They seem to be average main bandit prices - seek out a good independant or local garage you trust / has been recomended.
I expect it you would be qouted rughly half what the dealer wants to charge.

i have plip cases for sale for 306 to replace damaged or worn ones check it out on link below

we have just come across this board and wondered if any one could help, we have bought a sat nav system that has come out of a peugeot 406 year 51, does any one know if this will fit into our 1998(R reg) model and if so where could we get the wiring from. thanks to all that can help

Have you checked you havent blown any of the main fuses in the fuse box under the bonnet near the battery, That black box on the passenger side inner wing just in front of the battery.
Thats the main power supply feed for the car.

A Pug dealer is the last place you should go. He'll charge you an arm and a leg. There's no need to use synthetic, although it won't do any harm. Any good quality semi-synthetic will be fine. If you go to a GSF store, you'll get a top quality filter and a suitable oil at a fair price. Get a Haynes manual at the same time, and you'll find there's...

Is there any way of finding out what car a engine left the Peugeot factory in but its engine number? I'm interested to discover just where my engine came from, was it another 504 or as I suspect a 604.

check this topic from the citroen section
chances are its either a software problem or advance electrovalve.

Unsure, but if it has the same basic dimensions and the sensors can fit, I'm sure it will work. A common 205 upgrade is to change the throttle bodt from one from a VAG type car.

Could you not get one from a scrappy?

Hi
Pin no 5 on the ECU is the rev counter feed on this system

Hi
Remove the aerial base from the roof & use some sealant to seal it up when you stick the aerial back on.
Common problem on Peugeots with roof mounted aerials as they get older.

Airlock / Low fluid in the System?

Please help...
Just bought a 306 Hdi D-turbo (1999) as soon as I got it home I started having some problems with the alarm and locking the car.
Basically everything is fine, you turn the engine off, get out and press the button to lock the car...it locks, then unlocks straight away and the alarm beeps once. Sometimes you can try it 2 or 3 times...

April 1997 to April 1998 DHY 1.9 306 Turbo diesels are the cars to avoid.
Im sure someone will be along in a minute & still say theres nothing wrong with them.

Try cleaning the connections where it plugs on the back of the lamps themselves. Never done it on a 306 but I've found that to be the problem on loads of other cars.

Hi
This is an easy job.
The drivers side front wheel has to come off ( Use an axle stand! ) Then the plastic arch liner trim has to come off, A few clips & some screws for this, Cut the cable ties holding the coolant pipe to the liner & you MUST replace the cable ties when its put back together!
Do you have the automatic spring loaded tensioner or...

Great cars, at 154000 yours is just about run in! I've had a few but now jumped the fence to Citroen. Good points? A workhorse, very simple mechanically, DIY easy, low maintenance, very rust resistant, comfy, reliable, handles well and very few inherent weaknesses. Bad points? They leak in heavy rain, saloons badly need a rear wiper, rear...

If you remove the standard fans and cowling, you should be able to fit it in their place. Replace the standard fans with the slimmest ones you can find, so it all fits in!

Depends on the type of driving you do and driving style. I've just checked mine and averaged 37.2 for the last 5000 miles or so. I don't think thats bad for a petrol engined barge like a 406 estate but I bet that would be radically different if I had to commute into a city every rush hour.
I generally fill up roughly every 500 miles and never run...

It recirculates a small percentage of exhaust gasses back into the inlet manifold.
Best thing you can do is leave it off. I was advised by a Lucas engineer to leave it off as it clogs up the inlet manifold and sure enough when I removed the plastic part of the manifold (I had a 2.1td) it was full of black goo).
I kept removing mine and the garage...

Hi, a mate of mine got a copy of the Peugeot parts catalogue on ebay. They usually come on two Cd roms and are normally copied disks. They range from £1.50 to £4.99 depending on the seller. Hope this helps.

Hi
Replace the handbrake switch with the new moddified part from Peugeot & your problem will be solved.

The lads over on the 205 GTi forums swear by a product they call bumper snot but I've never been able to get them to elucidate precisely what it is. The term is used so much that I reckon if you go to a shop that majors in making cars look good they'll know wht you're after. You're right, these back to black products are pretty useless and damm...

Is your car a series 2 306.
The problem is the road salt rots the alloy pipes that run along the bottom of the radiator. Making them permiable to gas.
There are 2 of them and they will both be shot.
I have had to replace mine and wasnt impressed with the prices quoted either. So i brought the crimper.
email me on jameshughes@totalise.co.uk

if it needs the code try here they seem helpful and provided me with the code to my radio hope this helps

Have a look at the bottom engine mount.

is this any help???...

Sounds very much like a faulty rad fan switch. When you manually bypass the rad fan it works (shorting pins 1&2), so thats pretty much conclusive.
Have a replacement ready, and do a quick swap without losing too much water. Should be a quick fix.

Hi
I have a new one with Peugeot part number 0242.49 on the bag, Is that the one you are after?
Heres a picture of it

Having pulled the rad on the 1.5 AX (same engine) its a reasonably straightforward job - I can list all the bits you need to do if you want, but its quicker (for me) if you just plump for the Haynes Book of Lies and follow the instuctions in that.
Space is a little tight under the AX bonnet, and I immagine that the 106 is not much different. I...

by won't go in what do you actually mean? Does it crunch? can you not find the gear?
The Talbox express gear linkage is an utter utter bast@rd, and needs careful adjustment to be sure that you can get all gears. Is yours a 4-speed or a 5-speed, and if it's a 5, can you get 5th? if you can get 5th, can you move smartly from 5th to reverse? (when...

It catches drops of oil being blown out of the crankcase, and allows them to dribble back down into the engine rather than being blown into the air filter. The XUD one is fairly effective if it is mounted correctly (inlet at bottom, and outlet horizontal). It needs no maintainence.

I was wandering is any PU Bushes avalaible for 405SRi?How much it would cost and where to get them?

Hi
Do you know which ABS system this 306 has?
Have a look under the bonnet on the ABS unit, Is it a Bosch or someone else?
If its a Bosch unit can you please post the 10 digit ID number of the small blue metal plate, Thanks.
The number will be something like X XXX XXX XXX

Hello, my friends mass air flow meter wire has burnt out in his 1998 Peugeot 406 desiel. Peug quoted £250+ for a replacement, whats the p/n and cost from gsf?

How do you release the brake shoes to allow removal of the rear drum on a 1985 405. I can see through the inspection hole a lever but this only moves a small amount and doesn't seem to realse the shoes enough to allow removal of the drum. I have slackend the handbrake cable but still the shoes are preventing drum removal. Can any help please?

I cant remember what type it is but i can tell you that you can remove speedo cluster in under 15 minutes

Have a look here as it looks like the same problem on a Xantia - more traffic on the Citroen forum

Look at your rear wheels from behind the car a distance.
Are they like this |------| <-OK
Or leant in at the top /------\ <-Trailing arm bearings gone

Do the pins have a torx head?
My Xsara has ATE Teves calipers, and I'm amazed the pins would bend, they look to be made of a cro-mo type metal. Can the caliper slide on these bent pins?
If these pins are having an effect, I think you'd notice uneven pad wear.
If the pads are wearing normally, I rekon the disks have warped due to heat soak - caused...

Hi
The rear locking rods are a bit of a pain sometimes & taking it apart can be a right swine.
Take the door trim off again, Theres a kind of round rachet assy inside the door this is part of the lock rod that can give problems.
Are you sure you havent trapped the linkage behind the trim when you put it back together?
Are you sure the door isnt...

I had a similar problem on the girlfriends car, the rear washer hadn't been used for a while and the screen wash that was in the pipes seemed to turn to jelly.
I just had to trace the water pipe from the pump to the rear jet and clean it out.
Have you tried using the pump with the pipe disconnected from the rear washer jet?
As I know that on my...

Hi
STOP light on & cooling fan running points to the BROWN temperature sensor or the connection to it.
Check the terminals in the plug are nice & clean & making good contact, If not then its a new BROWN sensor, About £13 from Peugeot.
You said you have aircon, The Brown sensor works the Bitron control unit.
The Bitron control unit looks after the...

Still got an ongoing problem with a juddering when decelerating and going from first to second. I had the MAP sensor changed which seemed to stop the problem for a while but it has come back, I have also noticed increased engine noise and slight fluctuation in the idle.
Any ideas?
EZ

Do you need to change/top-up gear box oil? Could this be the cause?
EZ

Hi
Yes it is just a bolt at each end of the link, Im not sure if its possible with the wheel still on the car though.
A simple job for once on a Peugeot.

If it's similar to the IR type on the 306 you can re-program them yourself (the instructions are in the owners handbook for my 306).
I have seen loads of these IR remote keys for peugeot's on ebay.
Do a search on there for peugeot remotes or peugeot plips.

The HDi pump sprocket doesn't need timing as the pump only supplies pressure to the fuel rail. Check all the wiring on the injectors and any sensors etc to see if anything come loose.

Well you won't get an automatic with the diesel engine for starters!
From the knowledge of a 94 1.8 auto the first thing is the engine management software. I'm not sure about later models but the version of software on this one was buggy and should have been upgraded by a Pug dealer but never was - what a surprise. The resultant problems are that...

My daughter's 306 has the ball joints bolted with three bolts. Presumably, you can drill the rivets and replace with suitable bolts.
