Faulty speedo

Hi.i drive a peugeot 306 1.8 16v 2000 model.Sometimes the speedo goes dead but all of the other meters still work.It will start to work by itself again.any ideas.

Have a look here as it looks like the same problem on a Xantia - more traffic on the Citroen forum
