Talbot Express

Post by vana »

Hi There
Can any one help us we are travelling to France in a few weeks
My Kontiki motorhome has just had a new clutch fitted.
It changed gear fine before it went in the garage for the new clutch
to be fitted. We drove a few miles,it won't go in reverse,it goes in
when it is cold with no problem. I wonder if it could be something
to do with the support engine mountings.
Many Thanks Vana

by "won't go in" what do you actually mean? Does it crunch? can you not find the gear?
The Talbox express gear linkage is an utter utter bast@rd, and needs careful adjustment to be sure that you can get all gears. Is yours a 4-speed or a 5-speed, and if it's a 5, can you get 5th? if you can get 5th, can you move smartly from 5th to reverse? (when stationary of course!!)
One of the small link bars on the gearbox is fairly critical to get the correct side-to-side relationship between the lever and the gearbox. If you need more guideance I will see if I can find a schematic, or just take a pic of mine.
