Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

309 Diesel Cam Belt: noise after change

by fastandfurryous » 30 Aug 2005, 03:27

Sounds like it's a tensioner roller that should have been changed, or possibly a water pump that is on it's way out. Could also be something as benign as a loose belt cover. Either way, it needs taking apart again, and the source of the noise found, as you are right that if it is a dead tensioner, and it gives up, it could be terminal.

Sounds like your tank breather is blocked, so as you use fuel it creates a vacuum in the tank and this tries to stop the fuel reaching the engine. Hence the loss of power.

by PowerLee » 21 Aug 2005, 21:28

No need to drop the lump on these, The gearbox slides nicely to the side & leaves you enough room to change the clutch.
The aircon pipes run near the top of the gearbox & under the battery tray.
Stick new driveshaft oil seals in & change the mounting rubber on top of the box too while its in bits.

Black sooty build-up around 306hdi injectors

its like a kind of carbon build up,your injector seals are leaking, replace the copper seal at the bottom & the plastic sleves that sit in the cylinder head around the injectors, they should cost pennies from a main dealer.if you leave this for too long the injectors will become very hard to remove so do it sooner rather than later.

Hi
The climate control panel lowest setting is 14 degs, So thats normal.
The keys have a transponder immobiliser chip inside them, You need the dealer or an autolocksmith to programe new keys.
Without the transponder the car wont start!
You can do the remote part yourself, Its easy, The transponder part you cant!

Exploded Diagrams of the Bosch Diesel pump

by rotodiesel » 16 Aug 2005, 02:27

First post

As an introduction to the workings of the Bosch distributor type rotary pump (type VE) I would recommend the yellow Bosch technical instruction booklet. The one you need is VDT-U 2/2 En. There are more than 16 of these booklets, covering various topics and all are good.
As an ex diesel engineer I have to say having a fiddle will probably end in...

Hi Newbie here , my 405 Diesel pump has been played with in the past and its running like a tractor and has no power.
Ive been having a fiddle and have managed to get alot more torque by adjusting a few thing hear in there ;) but i would love to find some good pictures with explanations on what does what or what what is.

Just to let peeps know... the torx setting on a 106 xnd 1995 1.5
stage one - 40NW
stage 2 - 260 degrees
since the gasket was changed all is fine.

Last post

Hi
Just ordered a new gasket set.
Was wondering anyone knows if the 106xnd's are prone to the cylinder head cracking when the gasket has gone??
Also if you could tell me if new bolts are required when replacing gasket or can I use the old ones, And also what is the Tork setting for the 106 Xnd 1995...
Many thanks in advance
Alex...

Stuck fuel guage

by demag » 15 Aug 2005, 05:12

First post

The usual test is to take the cable of the sender unit on the fuel tank. Make sure it's not touching any thing and turn on the ignition. Is the gauge reading full or empty?
If full the problem is probably the gauge or the cable has shorted somewhere.
If it reads empty its probably the sender unit in the tank either packed up or sticking.

Last post

filled the tank up all the way and now ive done 170 miles and still the needle has not moved
ive opened the cap to release the pressure but nothing
any ideas?

rear electrics windows (405)

by PowerLee » 14 Aug 2005, 00:26

First post

Hi
You also need all the wiring that goes with them as well as the hassle of fitting them.
Peugeot used a lot of different looms on the 405, You would need to find a GTX/ GTDT or MI16 of similar vintage & borrow the parts of the loom you need of that.
The 405 never got the standard one loom fits all untill August 1994.
It IS possible to do this...

405 ABS sensor?

by PowerLee » 11 Aug 2005, 22:53

Hi
What ABS system does your 405 have then? It will be either Bendix or Bosch.
Have a look & report back which system is under your bonnet.

Hi,
I need a new rear ABS sensor on my 405. It's a 1992 pre-facelift model - a GTDT so disks all around. I have a Peugeot parts CD (from Ebay) but am not sure which sensor I have on the car. They list 2 for the early models - 4545-05 and 4545-14. Anyone know which one it should be?
And if you do know - has anyone got one *kocking about* that they...

I have a 106 1.5d with a strange starting problem.
Generally the car is fine and starts almost immediately but on occasions it has trouble starting. The engine will crank as normal but just won't fire. Usually after a short wait it starts as if nothing was wrong. Sometimes taking the key out and then putting it back in seems to fix it. It can...

How to get a better handling on the 406

by macaroni » 11 Aug 2005, 18:18

Tyres is a good place to start. Mine had Continental EcoContacts and the handling was so bad I repeatedly had the geometry and shocks checked. When I replaced them with trusted p6000s, the handling was transformed and felt really planted and confidence inspiring.
Check the dampers are in good nick. I doubt aftermarket dampers would improve things,...

HDi idle problem...

by rossd » 11 Aug 2005, 20:12

First post

Are all the air connections from the air filter through to the manifolds tight? Could be a huge number of things, might be worth trying to get the fault codes read to give you any clues. Try giving the MAF a blast with some carb cleaner aerosol or similar.

I have a 2001 306 DTurbo (HDi). A few days ago it started idleing unevenly. It basically goes up and down rhythmically from 750rpm to 1000rpm. It only seems to do it when hot after a long run. Nothing else seems affected, mpg, power etc seems normal.
Does anyone have any suggestions ??

405 heater control

by PowerLee » 08 Aug 2005, 23:03

Hi
With the ignition on but the engine not running, Move the temp slider from hot to cold slowly & can you hear any nasty clicking noises coming from the area next to the clutch pedal?
Theres a small servo motor that is for the heater water valve that controls the water flow through the heater matrix.
Also above & to the right of the glovebox is a...

I have an M Reg with aircon. It was a bit cold last night so moved the heater control for a bit of warmth. I moved it back to cold today but am still getting hot air! Lets hope we don't have that heatwave because I don't seem to be able to get cool air now. Turning on the aircon doesn't seem to help either.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated....

advice about 306 needed

by solara » 08 Aug 2005, 14:17

You will need a fully charged battery to start it.
Just prime the diesel fuel system using the grenade style hand pump next to the timing belt cover. Pump until it goes hard, then start it up (after waiting for orange glow plug light to go out).

Re Alarm

I couldn't imagine that you would cause a problem doing this other than stopping the ultrasonic sensors working (not that they are working properly if they are giving you false alarms).

I thought i would try my own solution.!! I have put black electrical tape over both sensors on the windsceen pillars and the alarm hasn't gone off YET.!! What i need to know is, are there any other problems i...
