306 xsi 16v losing power (intermittent)

Hi,
I've got a 97 306 xsi 16v that has just started an intermittent fault where the engine will lose power under acceleration. It will sit at idle quite happily but when pulling away it feels as if i've lost a cylinder or 2 as the power is not there and it sometimes judders a bit. Its seems to happen quite randomly. I'm pretty sure its not the idle control valve as i've had that fault before and this is totally different. Could it possibly be coil pack breaking down or fuel starvation perhaps?

I'd go for the coil pack thingy. It might be worth getting it 'on the Psychiatrist's couch' and having it scanned before replacing bits at random.
