Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

Disruption to Parts Service

As you may be aware, the consolidation of the old PSA to the Stellantis Group systems has resulted in both a merge of data tools and a requirement to migrate PSA accounts to Stellantis Systems.

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

Peugeot 106

by mbunting » 20 Sep 2005, 17:30

First post

My previous Xantia's washer bottle/pump could easily be seen by looking under the front of the car, the pump is simply a pull out gently affair, not forgetting the leads and pipes.
Be careful with the pipes, if the plastic is brittle, sometimes the plastic bit on the pump will snap off - new pump, but they're only a few quid anyway.

Last post

The windscreen washer has packed up on my wife's R Reg 106. My immmediate thought was fuse ... but all fuses OK. All other electrical systems seem fine but there is no pump sound when operating the front or rear screen washer. Any ideas anyone?
The washer bottle and presumably the motor and pump are tucked inside the offside front wing. Has...

405 o/s Engine Mounting

by fastandfurryous » 19 Sep 2005, 19:00

Were the small square rubber buffer pieces refitted? Without these the engine mount flexes excessively, and would fail again in a very short time. Other than that, was it oil contaminated? There's not much else that can damage that mount. I'd have another new one fitted, and be sure that the square buffers are in place, as well as the large cast...

Noise when steering right

by fastandfurryous » 16 Sep 2005, 01:50

First post

It could be something stuck in the brakes. Try gently applying the brake when it makes the noise and see if it goes away (or just changes note)

Alloy Wheels PCDs (605 / xm)

by fastandfurryous » 16 Sep 2005, 01:54

First post

1) no, they won't.
2) no type of wheel bolt will make them fit. If the PCD doesn't match, then you cannot use them. If you do try to fit these wheels, you run the very real risk of loosing a wheel at speed, with possibly fatal consequenses.
As the PCD is different, there's a fairly good chance that the offset is different too, which would make the...

In theory the carb may be too big for the little 1.1 engine, but its maybe worth a try! I did it on my old 1.4, it lost a little at low engine speeds if both chokes opened as the gas velocity slowed, but gained quite a fair bit higher in the rev range.
You will have to drain the coolant if you are changing the manifolds

How much difference will a twin choke solex carburettor from a XS/Gt
make on 1.1 TU1 engine which has about 60bhp as standard?
What sort of price will I have to pay for the carb and inlet manifold?
Is it a bolt on job and can I do it without draining all the coolant?

406 slight vibration

by Quinny » 04 Sep 2005, 23:21

On my recent auction purchased 406,I have just done 1500 miles on a round trip into France, and unfortunately, the rear horizontal link bars had to be replaced while I was there,as the old ones had expired. The idea was to get back to Britain and have the bars replaced here.Anyhow.....
The car still has a slight vibration to it,insofar as it lasts...

Can anyone tell me if the rear brake flexible hoses on a 309 are standard across the range - or is there different makes of brakes used? If they are a standard fit, are they reasonably easy to replace or are there things I need to be aware of? It is a 1991 (J) 1392cc model.

Lowering springs for a 205

I have fitted Jamex front struts and springs from a gti to my xs and it is down at the front by about 35mm.
Don't just fit lower springs as they will kill the shocks in no time. If you can afford it, go for a spring/shock combo for the front.
The back is more difficult as it requires a lowering of the torsion bar. It is a possible DIY job, but if...

I am looking to lower my 205 1.1 by around 40mm to try and stop the body roll. What make of springs have people tried and recommend.
I do not want to destroy the ride quality just lessen the roll in corners. Has anyone any experience of ventura springs sold by ........................?

Yes, as the oil will be in the sump and not the crankcase...I think.

Is it possible to replace the front crankshaft oil seal on a 1992 1.1 205 without draining the oil?

Anyone had problems with 205 diesel rear brakes failing a 'computerised' MOT (being rolled out at the moment - see
for some of the issues..... ).
After new cylinders and shoes, ours reads '~50' at the rear vs '~180' at the front (which sounds OK to me as a front / rear bias, especially with the inbuilt 'compensator' (=pressure limiting) valve in...

306DT engine mounting

by bad driver » 04 Sep 2005, 19:23

First post

support the engine and its an easy enough swap, if you can try to support the engine in a mannr to avoid it tilting as well, they tend to swing out of place with the upper mount removed. If you really want to eliminate this problm get th group N mounts for a gti6 or MI16 engine.

Last post

My 306XTDT 1993 with 140,000 miles has started to rattle the body on start-up. Also occasionally on idle, I can feel the vibration. I notice that the rubber bungs on the engine mounting (timing belt side) are worn. Stuffing bits of rubber in the worn area has eliminated the start up rattle, and reduced engine vibration at idle. So it looks like...

Not got a 405 myself, however if its anything like my 306 the fan relays (3off) are behind the frt grill. Remove this and you'll see a triangular shaped cover plate the relays are under here One black and two green.I think it's unlikely the fault lies here to be honest.
Well worth checking the earthing to the rad. The quick connect/disconnect...

Hi, I have a phase 2 306 and require a replacement part.
Basically, it's the surround bit that goes around the boot switch (the button that opens the hatch).
It should be plastic and have the Peugeot Lion on it.
Any ideas on the part number and where I could get this from? I think I might also need the part number of the rubber backing (which...

Peug 306 Dturbo vibration

by grattsim » 31 Aug 2005, 18:21

Hi When I pull away in first gear I tend to get a big vibration throught the car, its only in this gear and under load. Would it be fair to say its the Clutch? Could it be just some dirt or the cable?
Its done roughly 85k without a clutch change.
Could it be an engine mount?
Thanks for your help in advance.
