94 Peugeot 405 Cental Locking

Post by crazyquiff »

Central locking works on key into door. Key fob lights up when pressed but no alarm or central lock - beleive it is an Infra red type. Any clues to start looking?

Are you close enough to the car for it to receive signal?
I think pointing it close to the windscreen near inside mirror may help. I also have a '92 405 - mines crap - I never bother using.
Also check battery strengh in key fob.

Have you had the roof console apart? (this is where the IR reciever is). The electrical connector on it can fall off irritatingly easily.

I made major improvements by doing the following to my key.
Having replaced the battery couldn't understand why I still had such a poor range, took battery out and found that on the circuit board where the battery lays against was covered in muck, cleaned off with meths re-inserted battery and very much improved range and action.
Hope it helps

I had the same problem when i had a 405, it turned out to be a faulty c/locking relay just which is just above the glove box
