peugeot 406 hdi new high pressure fuel pump

A few months ago car broke down and I took it to a main dealer, after working on the car all day to find out what was wrong with it they decided it was the high pressure fuel pump so they fitted a new one, bill was over £1000 a few weeks later exactly the same symptoms started again, firstly speedo dropped to 0 and car felt like there was no power for a few seconds, on stopping engine it reamained going for a few seconds even after removing ingition key,engine management light came on then car broke down, Back to main dealer garage where they fitted another high pressure fuel pump plus new sensor, car ran for about 3 months and exactly the same thing happened again today, I was towed back by the aa, I am worried now it is or maybe even was not the fuel pump in the first place. Please does anyone have any idea what coulod be causing this as even garage does not seem to know.

was the connector on the fuel pressure sensor repaced at the same time ?
