Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

As I am sure we are all aware, the engine in the above car uses oil at the rate of around 1 litre per 1500 miles. The same engine is found in minis and I believe some citroens. Hi everyone,
ABS warning light on, ABS fault displayed and diagnostic check showed near side rear sensor problem. Simple fix you might think - wrong !! I have had the sensor changed, visually inspected and cleaned the ABS ring, checked the wiring continuity, resistance and voltage at pins 8 & 9. All reads and appears normal but still the fault...

On the last MOT I was advised that the reading for the handbrake only just passed the test, as its the good new electronic type any one got any idea how you adjust these things, I haven't ventured under the car yet, its winter!!!

Could anybody recommend the best place to obtain the camshaft locking tool for a 308 1.6VTi - 07 plate - I have the new gears but need the tool to fit them?

Have been searching but not really sure of the best place/site to buy it from.

I originally purchased a cheap,one from eBay, but it is not machined correctly & hence totally useless.
I recently bought one from my parts suppliers, I think it's made by Laser from memory, it was quite expensive, nearly £200 for both parts, but at least it works.
The Sealy kit is also good, I have borrowed one of these previously.

Hi everyone,
My aged leather/alloy gear knob needs replacing BUT I cannot find one that suits. My 406 has the lift up reverse (top left) type knob which requires a 90 degree anti clockwise twist and an almighty heave to remove from the shaft. Anyone know of a suitable new knob or how to refurbish the old one? Many thanks, John.

Hello

The egr valve is causing problems on my 306 hdi. The small metal pipe that joints the inlet part passenger side got blocked on the small bend. So I cleaned this out but if you rev past 3k a puff of smoke comes from the egr valve.

The car feels like being held back sometimes pointing towards egr.

I have checked again and the smoke comes from the egr area. You rev to 3k you can see it coming out to the top of the engine. There a slight blow I can hear now as well.

The egr solenoid if that was stuck on open or closed could this cause the egr valve to smoke?

I have a 508 SW 2.0 Diesel 61 reg, I have just gone over 74k miles and have suddenly lost 10mpg off my average (54.8-44.7). I am not driving any differently and using the same fuel company, nothing sounds out of the ordinary from the engine bay throttle response etc is the same as well. Is there something I need to be looking out for?

The correct gear box oil on the 306 hdi is 75w80 and it takes 2 litres.

So does this have to be fully or semi synthetic or no difference?

Hi I have a Peugeot 307 2.0 hdi xsi and I got in it and drove about 3 miles and it drove fine. Then when I went to drive it again 30 mins later it starts fine then I go to pull away and it keeps cutting out! Anyone have this problem before or know what this problem could be? hi, i have just bought a 2005 807 zenith which has the sat nav in but someone has removed the radio headunit and put a sony radio cd player in it so therefore no sat nav. if i can source a second hand unit will i be able to install it and get it to work in my car with a lexia which i already have or will it have to be decoded somewhere first...

Most likely an RT3 unit. Yes you need to have the cars VIN programmed into the radio unit for it to work, this can be done with Planet/Lexia.
Do yourself a favour though & get a Tom Tom, it will be far superior to the 2001 technology in the RT3 unit & yes I don't believe it has full postcode search. The hands free phone function is a faf to use as...

I have a problem on Robyn's 207...

The driver's side stop light is out. It's not the bulb or the holder as there's no voltage reaching it...

The Passenger side and high-level are good...

Looks like a wiring fault or the bulb failure sensor is duff as the sensor does give odd misleading indications sometimes.

Can anyone supply a wiring...

I went and had a look at a 'Y' reg executive estate today, its about the same age is my present one but a lot less miles. The speedo display is permanently lit showing 0000 even with the key out, if you turn the ignition on it reverts to normal operation and it starts OK. Everything seems to work alright but of course it will run the battery flat...

Evening all.

We've finally replaced my grandmother's C4 HDi Coupe after ten years, with a lovely 2009 Peugeot 308 1.6 VTi S Auto.

Just 24k miles with full Peugeot history. It's superb in every way, except the heater.

There IS heat, it's just pretty pathetic. The car gets to temperature fine and stays there. Plenty of coolant and its...

So I've been building all the parts for my 405 secret project for a while now. The only thing holding me back is the shell, mine is seriously rotten. Have a friend with a 307SW 2.0HDi on an 02 plate. The car worked fine but the key fob remote control buttons wouldn't work so she changed the battery. Now the car is stuck in Economy Mode and won't start.

I have reprogrammed the key fob and reset the BSI. The engine cranks fine but won't fire. The is plenty of fuel.

Any suggestions gratefully...

Not 100% certain, I didnt experiance a lack of power. Be aware that an AL4 or ZFHP20 at anything over 100k is on borrowed time, and a box rebuild would be expected in the future. Nature of the box being a claimed Sealed for Life rubbish. NOTHING is sealed for life.

I bought a lexia tool from ebay about a year ago for the 807, not much success with either really although I could read some faults and correct them.

I now have an 806 with the EML light on, car is running fine but would like to check it and see why it's on. However my lexia won't plug into the socket on the 806, it seems to be a completely...

All four of the injectors are reading 15.8 ohms (they were still warm, so I would expect them to come down as they cool - 1 & 4 came down from 16.3 shortly after stopping to 15.8 about 20 minutes later).

2001 will be the multipoint so whip the coilpack off and check the plug boots are still in good condition - i had one that left the boots stuck in the head :shock:

If i was to have a guess id say its for a bonnet switch, on most modern PSA cars the bonnet switch is a 2 pin black plug. May only be fitted to models with factory alarm system. Cant think where the switch is located on a 407 though.

I have a acquaintance who has a 407 sw hdi 136bhp with 160k mls (261000km) on the clock

the dual mass flywheel has failed.

I was thinking of the KIT4P that valeo sells to make it single mass flywheel again.

do you really need to remove the engine to gain access to the gearbox or is gearbox hoist easier?

Go easy though.. the lower part of the clamp bolts are a stupidly small 8mm size thread diamiter.. ie too small and can snap easilly.. incidentally what is the clamp head bolt size? Is it a 7mm allen key size?

I seem to have a fairly early 405 Series II, it's an STI 2.0 Automatic 1993 flavour.

A lot of things seem to be different on this to the later Series II models, have already discovered heater fan assembly and air conditioning unit/pressure switch (and the fact it's an R12 system) is completely different.

Does anyone know about the alarm though....

Thanks all, was indeed the fan resistor!

Fan assembly easy to get out, but typically mine had no screws holding it together as in all the manuals, and had to be prized gradually apart to get to the resistor. Once changed proved to be the culprit.

Thanks for replies chaps,have sprayed all bushes/ link's around clutch pedal under dash with grease and still the same,when pressing by hand it is almost certainly the spring itself, when pressing pedal slowly it must be designed like it, a French querk .

the clutch should be manual adjuster, just under the battery. Slacken off a few turns and see how it is. The geachange is operated by a series of rods, so load of places to wear. Pretty easy to work out where is moving about too much. The 205 was quite a modern car in it's day (106 is not much different)
