Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

But the ES94J engine featured in the Xantia V6, as most of you know, it's a 24valve 3.0 engine with 194bhp.

I have a 2009 c5 tourer. I have blown the fuse to the boot 12v socket ( connected towing socket relay to it) and I cannot find it anywhere???? I have checked all the fuse units I can find. Anyone help please. Front and middle sockets still live!

I forgot my lads C4 had an exhaust blow and just passed the mot with an advisory on it.
As it is being sold i want it to be as right as it can be so i am looking at replacing the rear section.

The sinker has been laid up for about ten months whilst I sourced a NOS rear sphere cylinder. Now that's fitted the suspension works superb and not a leak in sight. Over that ten months I've kicked her up every week without a problem (whilst she's been sat on the floor). Now it comes to MOT time she wants to play silly buggers!

Been a long time since i last posted, but this is the best place for honest and reliable advice :-D

My newly purchased '09 C5 tourer has one issue. I cannot get the satnav to work, all it shows is 'navigation not available, please insert medium'. I have the SD card and that has been tested on a laptop to show it does have files on it - no idea if anything critical is missing.

On my Xantia Activa the rear drivers door panel that has the electric window button on sticks out.

When i looked closer i could see a screw showing where it should stick in.

Quite by chance discovered rear fog switch won't stay depressed, i.e. on but removing it appears to be impossible (despite what it says in b-o-l). First of all it entails removing instrument panel (all snap together plastic) which can't be done without destroying (most of) it - that is why the panel lights are slowly failing!

Hi.i have something funny goin on with my 03 hdi c5.the lights are on all the time unless the key is fully off.went to start the car early and not a geek.abs fault and immobiliser and passenger airbag warnings came up.i jump started it and everything was back to normal.any ideas of whats going on.thanks in advance.

I had a mot yesterday and was advised Front Pads needed changing. so I changed the front passenger side pads first, Pushed the pistons back
to fit new pads, then slipped new ones in and sorted.
I went and jacked the drivers side up and got covered in fluid (not sure what it was until I looked after i fitted pads)

Hi all, is there anyway to turn off the service warning message on my X7 without any diagnostic equipment?
I am on holiday and parked my car on a steep slope overnight, when I went to start it this morning the diesel had syphoned back to the tank and I had to crank the engine for about 20 seconds before it fired, also an error message appeared...

I have a year 2000 hdi synergie that I use as a camper but the rust is starting to take hold and now up to 170,000 miles, so thinking about something newer so the c8 would be the obvious choice, but I read many horror stories about them especially the diesel, so I was thinking about a petrol automatic which I expect to be very thirsty but I don't...

Glad I went for a few errands before setting out on a fishing trip. Brakes failed about two streets away!

I think a lot of them are pretty poor Steve and only built to last 2 or 3 years. That is why they are cheap.
Good ones are due the extra money they charge. The mechs seize because it is a plain bush with only brake fluid to lube it. Water in fluid,then rust. I think the worst thing for them is probably the hydrocarbons we spray in there to keep...

I'm, not sure I ever knew (or, at least, retained) the detail but I was only comparing the diesel with other Visas. I rather regretted not being able to change the gearbox when the new clutch was fitted, as that's what really lets the C15 down - & there's no emissions test (in any scientific sense) for diesels - ironically!

I have a minor defect on my c5s mot fail sheet, the rear fog lights. The tester said he couldn't see them on.

Yes, my previous MKII, had dual climate and it would automatically set the Passenger side to the same temp as the driver - until the passenger adjusted their own controls. There was an option in the menu to configure this as you say, but it's a completely different system on the later C5.

Greetings,

I have been a fan of this site for a long time and never had reason to post...until now...but I'm confident someone will have the answer....

1. The sat nav on my 2011 C5 VTR+Nav (My way system) appears to be about 20-30mtrs out...it will place me on the roads I am on, so laterally it is fine, but upon coming on a junction it appears...

I see seals listed on servicebox, is there much involved in rebuilding one of these suspension cylinders?

Waxing is quite good enough for pipework, which usually only suffers minor surface rusting.. Water can get trapped under additional paint, particularly if it's a thick coat.

I bought from a local garage strut tops 5271.E2 and 5271.E5 , later I found that these do not fit my car. My car strut tops
are 5271.F5 , 5271.F6. The 5271.E2 and 5271.E5 are for Activa and have a bigger bore pressure feed pipes.
Can the strut mounts be converted ? Is there an adapter to reduce the larger pipe bore ?

That was my thoughts too, it'd require Loctite/epoxy or similar to seal the threads anyhow so it'd probably be quicker/easier to make an adaptor from scratch (unless one used the idea of brazing to a section of Activa 10mm pipe of course)

These bits were under the seat of the C5 estate, anyone know what they are? I know about the screen but wonder if it's been used somewhere on the car or if it's just junk left in, like the riding boots, work shoes, coke bottles etc. :)

Speaking of blown 100amp fuses I dare you all to turn on everything in your house.
It should pop the fuse, always wanted to see it happen but never dared even though I have a massive box full of spare fuses.

It would pop in a very undramatic way James... That's how they're designed to be... If it went in spectacular way it could cause more...

The alternator on beryl is only putting out 11.7 volts, therefore not charging the battery properly, so it hasnt enough kick to start it. There appears to be 4 or maybe even 5 types of alternator. I wonder if any of you kind gents can look up service citroen for a check of what mine has fitted. 94260507 last 8 of chassis number, SB06 EWN...

The lower dash and center console with the grainy plastic on my recently purchased C5 has been sticky since I bought it. It seems that the surface layer if the plastic has melted by UV or caused by the previous owner using improper cleaning solvents. Does anyone know what products or methods to use to repair this issue? Thanks.

Hi, Try this stuff, I use on on anywhere that is sticky or has something stuck to it, I originally bought it to remove tar spot from my paintwork.

My automotive guru (mechanic) has several clients with Peugeot/ Citroen vehicles as well as my ZX & Xantia, he wants to get the proper diagnosis tool for his jobs.
We tried buying the Chinese kit - it didn't seem to work. Our IT guru puts it down to a faulty disc supplied with the gear.

As some of you will already know, daughter has moved into the realms of 'moderns' with a 2005 Cit C3 1.1 Petrol....

...which is a world away from my Pug 405, and additionally its got Spark Plugs, not Glow Plugs!
(pleased and a little surprised to note its still cable operated throttle though).

not the most pressing of issues, but a small (and surprising) irritation....

The CD Tuner in daughter's new C3 (2005 1.1 Desire) isn't fed on the usual 'Aux position' ignition feed, so when you turn the ignition off, it doesn't go off !!

I was half expecting to find a mess of butchered wirring & scotchblocks when I pulled out the unit, but no,...

Hi. Any one out there clever with air bag systems..

Ive got a car. Air bag light is on. Lexia says trigger level 2 drivers module.. now.. the car has had a steering wheel air bag.. (got two now) .. an air bag ecu.. and also a comms 2000 unit. Ive double checked continuity and used a know working comms 2000 and still have it. The harness runs off...

On a com2000 unit with & without front fog lamps the only difference is the little fog lamp symbol printed on the stalk. They are electrically identical if they have front fogs or not.

especially in clutch or throttle and brake control.

I don't want to get to deep into the illness side of things and concentrate more on the costs of getting

No, it needs to come off, along with the steering wheel airbag module and connectors, so you should ensure that the battery is disconnected and and the car has been left for 10 minutes to discharge the air bag systems before working on it. Once you do this you will have to be very careful with the clock spring / ribbon cable reel / steering wheel...

Just 3 weeks ago I went to a mechanic to get my timing belt changed on my 2009 Citroen C5 X7 1.6Hdi. Car had no error codes at all (a have a lexia3)

The only reason for the reminder about the C720 tool was that, if you are going to go in for regassing, you will find that the regassing tool does testing too. If you're just going to test, but then buy new/acquire used, then a sphere tester is quite sufficient.

The Bosch engine ECU in my 1996 2.0i turbo petrol XM seems to be faulty. The Citroen part number is 96 206 231 80.
Cold starts suddenly became difficult.
The engine cranked over but would not catch without using the throttle. It drove OK after about 2 minutes.

I have replaced the crank sensor, battery, battery terminal clamps, spark plugs,...

Have you tried changing the coolant temp sensor yet? that would be my prime suspect in hard cold starting situations. Even if a second different ECU appeared to cure the fault, it may just have been down to different operating parameters.

Hopefully that is all it turns out to be as I've not heard much of ECU partial failures, in my experience...

Hello, I wasn't too far from home this evening when the accelerator hit the floor and stayed there.

Popped cable? I stopped and looked under the bonnet to find it still fully in place there so a look at the pedal end revealed the truth! The white nylon end link had come out of the pedal end and when refitted lasted another 3 miles before it came...
