Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

i have a dispatch 1.9 td(1999) van with 108k on the clock with service upto 96k(2yrs ago) it has only done 12k in the last 2 yrs.
having only owned the van for 6 weeks i thought i would get a full service done. all was ok until the engineer saw paste/cream in the oil filler cap, he told me that this is the sign of head gasket trouble....

I have a problem with my wife's car.

It is a C3. with the 1.4 HDI engine, and more and more frequently, there just seems to be no power at low revs. It is as if the Turbo has dissapeared. Then as the revs rise (normally about 2000 to 2500 rpm), the turbo comes in with a wallop.

I am assuming, there is a sensor gone a bit amiss, but the engine...

How fast is it?

I read on carsurvey.org that u gotta take the engine out to change the spark plugs, surely this is just a silly exagrration?

It will be thirsty, but how much?

I am about to embark on changing the timing belt on my overdue XUD. I want to do the idlers as well, but the haynes says you need to make up a tool to hold the plunger in.

Is this really necessary, or is there an alternative?

I want to replace my Lower track control ball joints (base of strut), which one side is worn.

Can't see them listed on GSF 'Online Shop' as a single or as a kit for both sides. These have previously been changed as they have nuts and bolts, fixing them to the arm.

If they don't do them any suggestions who might in the Cardiff area.

The V6 needs an aux belt tensioner, looks fairly straightforward to change but does anyone know if this is a V6 specific part or if one is available from anywhere else other than Citroen, as I'd like to try and avoid paying Citroen prices?

Anyone changed one already that can offer any pointers before I delve in?

Changed the belt, tensioner and jockey wheel today. Bearings were shot on the tensioner and jockey wheel and the tensioner had partially seized which would explain the squealing belt. £170 of parts altogether.

It runs much quieter now though, you don't really notice how noisy the bearings are getting until you fit new ones. I hope I got it all...

Can anyone confirm whether my gearbox engine mount is on my ZX TD estate is duff or not. on removal I was surprised to find that the steel tube in the centre of the mount wasnt bonded to the rubber and that the center of the mount that the steel tube fits in was very slack and tapered from top to bottom. The cable release for my park brake has failed on my S2 TD. The local citroen dealer is trying to tell me that this part is different to the cable release on a V6 XM. As the diesel was never officially imported into Australia he won't get the part for the diesel, only the part for the V6.

Hi,

I'd highly recommend the Dunlop SP Sport 200E on the Xantia's, i got them for the front today £50 each from local National Tyres.

Initial thoughts are: they are super quiet, and drive really well over puddles and surface water, grip the corners quite well in the wet too, but as they are new things may change, but for the price, you can't go...

Its not a resistor pack its a transistor regulator. The symptoms depend on how the unit goes faulty. Very often the transistors go short circuit whic causes the motor to run flat out. If its not working at all, check that you have 12v across the thick red and black wires on the plug. No voltage on an XM usually is usually caused by a poor...

Hi,

my tailgate lock servo (actuator) was (and still is) VERY noisy - people hear from hundred meters that I'm coming :shock:.
Few months ago I changed it (got another one from scrapyard) and it didn't really help - only the pitch is now higher. Here is a recording... To me it sounds like a cat is trapped in there and gets struck by a hammer...

Replacing the belt, tensioner and roller on my 1.9TD, and having dificulty taking the roller off.

I've undone the three bolts, but can't get it off.
There seems to be a large brass torx head which fits in the hole which I've ringed in this pic:

Anyone know if it needs to be screwed in to remove the roller, if so what size torx is it, or am I...

We put the new one on no trouble, tightened up the engine mount, went to fit the new tensioner, and found that the dowel that it pivots on was bent.
So off to citroen tomorrow to order a replacement.

Chaps I know this vehicle is miles off what we are used to..

Someone I know was wondering if her vehicle could be given more 'go'.

I suggested a possible easy option was to upgrade to 1.9TD..
intercooler and turbo locations allowing.

Can anyone else help with this? 2.1TD ? 2.5 TD ?

Is the car Petrol or Diesel, If it is Petrol, the problems could be caused by a variety of reasons, dirty fuel, bad plugs, or plug leads. carburettor problems, or engine timing. If it is Diesel that's a totally different problem, possibly air getting into the fuel...

Hi All,
Is the changing of the cambelt on HDi 110 a DIY job, by that I mean have you got to have any special tools?. It looks a bit of a messy job, with all the bits and bobs hiding where one wants to be at. :D. Will have to do my sons's too, as he has an HDi 90 ( he can get his hands dirty, Dad will watch, lol)

The rear accessory (cigarette lighter) sockets (one in the boot - one at the back of the centre console) seem to have stopped working. The front one works OK.

Wondering if it will be a fuse or a loose connection somewhere.

Probably blew a fuse from blowing up footballs with a compressor!

Can anyone confirm that it's a blown fuse?

In most cases, fuses are rated by their holding current, not rupture current: not always appreciated by users when deciding what spec they need.

Hi All,

I have some bodywork dents to sort out on my Xsara estate.
The front wing has had a bash and the rear quarter panel has a crease that has dented the metal.
So far I have removed the front wing and bashed it back to shape and also bashed the crease from within the rear wheel arch. Its all back together now and the metal is within 2 or 3mm...

I have a '92 ZX with the remote central locking, but with a problem which is when using the remote the drivers door will not lock/unlock. All the other doors lock/unlock, but when the drivers door doesn't do it's thing the rest do the opposite.

Everything works when using the key and working the button up and down from inside the car.

guys,

changed my top engine mounting recently and after exposing it found the top part had broken off.To my surprise I found the mounting dripping lots of oil.......Anyway the sensation of engine smoothness came back....sigh :D

Is it just a simple job of removing the top screw then the ones located with in the Air ducts?

Need to remove the ABS bulb and check the fuel level bulb as it doesn't light up very much at night if at all, not going to have enough money to sort that out before the MOT, as i need to sort out the battery and the Front tires plus the exhaust back...

I just came across a sphere removal tool on ebay...

They look a little different to the design of the ones that I have seen before, but also a little cheaper than the pleiades ones.

Does anyone have a tool like this one, and is it any good? As I've got 10 spheres to change on my Activa, I would like a decent tool to do it with!

Hi all

A friend's TD has lost its compression on all cylinders; I suspect a belt slip...

Have removed timing belt covers and crankshaft pulley.
The injection pump sprocket is aligned with the 2 bolt holes that lock it, and the camshaft sprocket is aligned with its bolt holes similarly.

Hands on experience from my local gang here suggests that you simply have lost fuel supply.
Can happen abruptly if a brittle rubber hose cracks, or debree suddenly cloggs the fuel line internally.

Also water in fuel is a possibility.

For some strange reasons the engine may start spin like a B&D when no fuel is admitted.

I also had them on one of my XM's and was most impressed, did not have a problem when loaded.
I mentioned it now as I found my C5 (Hydractive) had a very hard ride in comparison to the XM's and CX that I once had.
Mind you I also have leather seats which are hard, not through choice. These sphere have brought back that level of 'comfort' again.

Hello I have a 2-1 diesel 1997 (august) the radio plays audio cassetts but does not apear to support a CD multi changer.
I have a Xantia radio that does support a cd changer But I dont know which model changer I need.

Windscreen washer failure over Easter, fortunately a dry one. Advice is required, the fuse I believe is a 10a No 14. I know where it is but could not withdraw it whilst away, it looks like a spade fuse but is smaller and in tighter. assuming the fuse is OK I would then go for the washer motor, the question is, where is it? After my better half complained that the brakes in our Xantia were too spongy and less responsive than those in the C3, I finally worked up the courage to suggest the spring replacement mod (She is a working environment safety ingeneer, so mods are rather hard to get approved :wink: )

I have changed wishbones twice on ZX now, each time for genuine Cit parts. Both times the tracking has been a mile out afterwards.

Managed to renew the rear arm beriang (offside - nearside today)
Thanks for all the advice - just goes to prove what a good forum this is.
However can anyone advise what the front (on car ) clipp do - does it hold the cylinder arm in ? does it hold the rubber gaiter in place ?
One other thing I just couldnt shift the ABS sensor and so lost it at...

In truth I followed the advice cleaned the arm up well and drifted them out with a large screwdriver and club hammer through the tube without to much problem - I would say however there wasnt much left to keep them in place so I reckon I was lucky

my front driver side e/window has packed up.

Ordered a second hand one but it turned up to be a different one. The one I have has a 6 pin plug (with 4 wires) and the one he sent has a simple 2 pin plug and 2 wires.

can I somehow modify that to suit?

i've had a bit of a water leak on my 2.1td xantia for a few months now and have never been able to spot were it's coming from, today when changing the oil i noticed some water on the floor and it appears to have come down from the back of the engine somewhere and was dripping onto the drive shaft but i still can't find were it's coming from, the...
