As the weather gets colder I'm noticing that the push-button to undo the rear hatch is sticking 'in'. After being pressed, it takes up to a minute to return to fully 'out'.
Am I going to need to take off a panel inside the lid and get at the button that way (applying grease) or can I get away with some WD40 sprayed from outside? I'm always wary that, in time, WD40 can cause worse sticking than it originally cures.

I had same problem with the Xantia's rear hatch button a few years ago. IIRC, gave it a quick spray with WD40, and problem instantly solved. Problem has not returned, but if it does, I'll be happy to use a little more WD40.
Probably not relevant, but the key turns in the hatch's lock, but doesn't operate the lock the mechanism. No problem, as central locking locks it.
If you have to strip it, interested in how you get on
