v6 rear brakes

Post by lexi »

Just having a goosey about car I had a look at rear discs. These look very small.

I remember on last HDI Estate someone had put tiny discs on the front. The pads then only made contact with half of their swept area. That
resulted in about 20 per cent braking on Mot test (50 allowed).

Will strip out to look but my 1.9td estate has bigger rear discs than these!

I assume the fronts will be the big disc same as HDI? Any info on proper rear disc dia on Mk1 V6.?

That's the right discs Lexi. I know they appear small but that's how it is. The estates have much bigger rear discs than the hatches.

The fronts are indeed the big ones.

Strip and clean the rears and they'll be OK. They always look a bit sad after a layup and it takes a time for them to bed back in again.

I actually discovered, that the HDi 110bhp cars use the SAME brakes as the V6, and the same callipers!

As 85% of braking occurs on the FRONT of all Hydraulic Citroens, theres no need for MASSIVE disks at the rear, just at the front...
