Hi, a friends mk 1 Xantia suffered the dreaded blower fan failure. After checking the points in the very good sticky, it turned out to be the electric motor itself. When I removed the fan unit I was suprised at the similarilarity to the fan unit on the one on the XM (of which i have a few). So I tried one out and it slotted in perfectly, just the electrical connector which was square instead of straight. Fixed that an marked the sudden improvement in sound level, i.e. the blower was actually working and resopnding to the fan control.
BUT no air output!
To cut a long story short, I turns out that the only difference between the XM and Xanti blower fans is the FAN WHEEL which has its tangential wings in the reverse direction!
SO how do you get the fan whell OFF?

Hi Clogzz
Nice hear from you again!
Thanks for the tip but I have actually already deduced the fault, my problem is knowing if it is possible to remove the fanwheel from the motor shaft or not. It appears to be moulded onto the shaft, in which case I will have to find an original Xantia one from the scrappy. Just wondered if I could modify one of the old XM fan units I have lying around.... (which have the fanwheel wings facing the other direction!)
