Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

A friend at work has a Y-reg Picasso. There is a fault with the electrikery* bit of the ignition lock.
(*technical term)
He had the aerial replaced a while back as the car wouldn't start - wouldn't release the immobiliser, but now his air conditioning won't work.

A friend in Poland had taken it off and cleaned/re-bent the contacts and it worked...

Hi, I have a 2000 Hdi 90.

Recently I had a leaky pump. This was replaced about 1 month ago by myself from a similar scrapped Xantia, and lo, everything was perfect. For the first time I experienced the magic carpet ride, like driving on glass, I was really chuffed with it.

Well, took it to the garage and me and my friend reckon its got 2 flat accumulators, the rear spheres are nearly 100% rusted so maybe they have not been replaced, who knows? Also the clutch is going, although its not slipping yet it will need doing quite soon. Plus, we are not sure that the pump I put on is up to much even though it was fitted...

Oil filter will come off with bare hands if you're a tradesman. Otherwise, the hammer a long, thin, flat blade screwdriver through it and turn trick works.

The sump plug at the front is for manual cars; it's where the oil level (or is it temperature?) sensor goes.

First thing I suggest on the airbag warning light is to unplug the small yellow...

W reg. Xantia exclusive.

I am having great difficulty fitting a new pipe from the regulator to the security valve. It is such a small space to get your fingers in to apply enough forward pressure and turn at the same time to get it started. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Access is further hampered by a 1/8 rod that starts just above the port goes...

Managed to get the union into the port by slitting 1/4 copper tube about one and a half inches long to go around the pipe and splaying the end to wrap around the nut. this small extension allowed my fingers to be just clear of the offending rod ends.
The rod still hampered tightening up so I would advise anyone doing this job to try and remove the...

Well the good news is I found the latest leak, bad news is it's from the doseur valve. Good news is it looks like just a split hose on the top, it's just a short length that fits in turn to a thinner pipe which I assume is a return. Finally got the AC working on my C5, I didnt realise that it was US until a few weeks ago, when I checked it it was empty, got a refill can from halfrauds and put it in only for it to come out again, the high pressure line into the condensor had corroded right at the edge of the locking plate and had a tiny pinhole in it (way too small to...

Hi all, I have found another place where water is getting into my Xantia. :roll: Air vents in the boot.
There are water tracks as you can see in the pictures, but I have no idea how it is getting there. The sun roof drains are all good, as are the light clusters.

I have removed the vents to expose the area for inspection. In the second picture...

Yeah, i agree. Nothing to lose.
I wont close them up completely though, as the vents are the way out for stale air.
There are rubber 1 way flaps on the back of the vent panels that show no signs of water at all.

The flaps are designed to relieve air pressure so that the doors, tailgate etc can be shut properly.

My newly aquired 1999 Xantia exclusive has a full moulded liner in the rear os wheel arch and a small cut away bit of a liner in the ns rear arch. As a result lots of crud has got up into the upper rear box sections and caused significant rusting. Doesn't seem right to me. Should they be both the same or is this a bad design fault? Advice much...

yes XANT's did have a hend brale issue, but the XSARA's hand brake is on the rear wheels, and XANT's are on the front,

I seem to have misslaid my Bol.

There are two hoses connected to the heater matrix on the bulkhead of the citroen xantia Mk2 smilar to the Mk1.

on both models after exiting the bulk head one goes to the back of the engine head and the other runs across the bulkhead and along the side of the engines head over the gear box connecting to the...

I think I spotted that on the scrap yard on Monday, I sneakily went in for some switches and stripped down a car I didnt have to put back together
again call it practice Mode.

the pipe goes into the bottom of the cast section beneath the filter housing
and runs along the right side of the head and goes into the bulkhead.

Thanks to the Lexia, I've noticed the ECT sensor is reporting erratic temperatures, showing a huge range from as low as -34 to +145 when I guess the true temperature was about 20-90 as it warmed up on idle.

I think I made it worse by wiggling the wires close to the connector but is it usual (within the ECT sender spec) to show such a wide range...

Don't know if anyone else had this problem but over the weekend my Xantia decided it was going to throw up a fault.

Put key in ignition and the key symbol flashes on dashboard and bleeps, Obviously wont start, After a few mins it worked ok, Today i jumped in car to go to work, same thing but also some clicking from i think passenger side behind...

Did you manage to change the time? I tried to do that to my car, but when I looked in the BSI there was 7 or 8 digits in the field for time. I changed the number to 1500 if I remember that right.

hi all
Has anyone who lives near bolton got a lexia that can help with service light reset on my c5 2006 model. My car had front end bump and drivers airbag was deploide.
i have repaired front and replaced the airbag but belive the moduel needs the fault codes removing.
Any help or advice welcome and appreciated.

I think if one or more of the airbags deploy the ECU is toast too, it goes to LOCKED state and has to be replaced, thats what the info I have says.

hi
refitted a drivers airbag to the steering wheel, still get the fault Airbag/seatbelt fault on the info screen.
i have read that the airbag modual needs the fault removing, can this be done in situe with diagnostics.
also will this cause the service indicater to stay on.

Depends if airbags have been deployed, My C5 had a fault and it cleared as soon as the fault was fixed, Using a Lexia will tell you what faults there are though, might be on a different airbag.

Hi citroen mads!

I`ve encountered a strange behaviour which made me worry.

When I steer maximum to right or left and car start moving I can feel that the wheels are not syncronized like there is a play somewhere in front. also, it`s a bit unstable in curves...

What can induce this phenomena?

Worn track rod ends? Not uncommon on the C5, I believe.
Otherwise, one or more rubber bush on the suspension arms might have perished.

i will try to replace all bushes next week, i`ve heard this is an common failure over 100,000 kilometers on board.

Hi All , Any help ...My xsara 2.0hdi Estate of a MK1 flavour (2000reg) is randomly cutting out ,it wont happen every day but at least 1 /2 times a week .

I will roll up to a junction or slow down for a bend and the engine will die .
Stop restart after 5 seconds all ok can drive normal .it only happens when revs are dropping ..

How long should a clutch last? Talking here of gentle usage, rather than massive clutch slip when off from the lights, or towing. Pose this question following broken cable clip earlier today.

Car's on it's second clutch. First one (Valeo) lasted 79k and I changed it after 7 yrs because it was heavy, though I found minimal wear of the clutch...

I just found a set of over 50 new photos and a first video over at . The Citroen Metropolis is just a concept. Hopefully, it will keep its styling for the production version but it will be somewhat more...humane. I hope it will be about 30-40 centimeters shorter and 20 centimeters taller. Beautiful car anyway.

Hi,

I know this has probably been answered before but the search isn't working for me, just hangs on waiting for page (might be the internet connection here in spain).

Got the car up on axle stands and have tried removing rear spheres with system pressurised using my homemade tool, and banging the tool's arm with a mallet. Trouble is each whack...

Jim you thought STALEY because i said it looks like my STANLEY pipe wrench,

the only trouble with the 900mm one is the chain might be have thicker links, which will sometimes be to much and foul on things, the type in the link is by fare heavyer than the average filter wrench,

hi all i have amk 1 xsara hatch on an x plate and the side airbag warning light comes on then goes of as it should , but about 30 secs later comes back on but somtimes it doesn,t can anyone help thnx :?

It could be one of the wiring connectors. Check under the passenger seat the connectors for the seat. Check the driver's as well.

Hi All
Well had an airbag fault on my C5 since I bought it, had a look with my LEXIA3 and it is telling me the fault is with the LEVEL 1 Drivers side, Im thinking that its the main wheel airbag now, did think thw fault was with the wiring to the drivers seat side one but now not sure, any idea on what one that is, very confusing......

I did wonder if it was to do with the passenger side, sometimes the fault would clear them come back, it was always when i had a passenger that it came back!!!!

Lexia reads them the right way around as it knows the car is RHD. Although those connectors are in the passangers footwell they are actually the wires for the drivers side airbag...

Hi All

Does anyone know of any ECU unlockers, who are reasonably cheap??

Im considering having a HDi 110 ECU unlocked so I do not have to bother messing with the Transponder wireing via a Body Computer..

Any ideas / people??

I've got a quick question about the LHM reservoir..

I read somewhere that someone had enough LHM in their reservoir to be able to cover their index fingertip when they put it in the reservoir on service high, but I can't reach the LHM with my finger, and my guage says my LHM is full. So is it wrong??

Does anyone know if these will work on C4 Picasso's with EGS using the Citroen plugs supplied. One option am looking at when sorted the C5 is maybe one of these. Can the EGS box be tweaked when it goes wobbly with these Lexias.

As long as it has the 16 or 30 pin sockest it should do, C4 is listed as one of the cars.

....the Xantia's going home on a truck :cry: Driving along the coast near Juno Beach this morning I noticed the stop light flickering, checked the LHM level and it was low, looked under the car to see another stream of LHM, this time coming from the front in the vicinity of the height corrector. Anyone who has been there, done that and dropped a clip from the pipes?

What I'm after is places they tend to get lodged? I'm missing one and for the life of me cannot see it. I've been in with a magnetic tool and nothing.

Where do they hide? Need to find it and sort this job else I will start to seriously question my having the Activa :evil:

I am considering purchasing a flat plate heat exchanger to heat veg oil before it enters my Bosch fuel pump on my citroen xantia Mk2 1,9 TD 1998.

does anyone know what the internal diameter of the fuel hose is between the filter housing and the Bosch pump banjo please. if not then the outside diameter of the pump banjo would be helpful if...

if Mike says the outside diameter of the clear plastic fuel line from the filter to pump is 7.69mm surely the internal measurement is going to be much smaller although the end does look as though it is streched larger than the rest of the pipe. so...

Summary: I want to reactivate the feature :)

The hazards on under heavy braking was coded off upon import check, as the function was illegal hereby back in 2002. There is a stamp in cars service book indicating this deactivation job done. The car is my'02, RPO 9433.

I've set the feature on in BSI with my Lexia, and it now reads back as it would...

Hi All,

After ages of trouble free running with the ZX it's developed a slight squeak from the off side rear drum. I am going to have a look in the drum but I want to have a set of shoes standing by.
However, there seems to be a large choice of shoes/pads with an equally wide price range.
Does anyone have a recommendation for the best compromise...

a leaking of oil and burning smell from under the bonnet led me to think I needed a new gasket.

Just learnt from Citroen service that the 'engine cam cover' is cracked and
needs replacing. cost £397.50 + vat !! can anyone tell me if I have any
cheaper options .

Have become a dab hand at removing the top half of the inlet manifold :wink: ive done the leakoffs and also replaced the fuel line and both times the manifold cover was removed :lol:

Not a good idea to use a deep 12mm socket then :roll:

Driving along through Stoke this afternoon, change down for traffic lights and bang - clutch cable goes. Drove back home avoiding traffic wherever possible, clutchless changes up and down, starting in gear, usual thing, we've all done it, found when I looked that the cable had actually snapped just before the pedal. Hello all, I have recently bought a P reg Xantia 1.9td and have found it generally to be a great car. The only annoying problem I have with it is that the suspension is too bouncy, when I go over speed bumps the car gives more one bounce than it should and when driving at speed the bounce can be quite alarming, it's like driving a boat.
