Sphere Identification

Post by davetherave »

Picked up a load of spares recently and there were some spheres included.
Ive pressure tested them and most are the usual hydractive ones between 30 and 45 bar.
So they will get saved and the duds scrapped.
But one of them I dont recognise, this one pumps up to 70bar and then I can pump no further!
Any ideas??

Well, that's a corner sphere Dave as it has a damper element in it.. The hole looks bloody enormous though...

Is it really pressurised at 70 bar or is it ruptured... Miond you on my tester I can wind the pressure in a ruptured sphere off the end of the gauge although by then the pump is getting jolly hard to turn...

If it was ruptured the pressure wouldn't settle @ 70 Bar, it would continue to rise.

Is there a make shown on the sphere?

Many an example here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/thomasbeck ... 316509039/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
These "Loadrunners" were special versions of the Citroen CX that were designed for fast transportation purposes where planes were too expensive, trains to inflexible and trucks too slow.

They were built by companies like Pijpops and Tissier.

Whenever you see a CX like these then take a photo! Not too many have survived!
Such transportation includes newspapers through the night all over different countries...

Could be a 75 bar CX (maybe comfort) sphere.
