Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Does anyone know the proper amount of coolant for a Xantia HDI 110 with aircon? According to the Citroen 2001 Xantia-XM-Synergie book, Revue Technique, and the BOL, it is 8.5 litres without aircon and 11 litres with aircon.

Seems clear enough, but that means an extra half gallon of coolant when there is aircon. Now as far as I can determine the...

Thanks Toby, I'll allow for 11 litres.

Its still not obvious where the extra half gallon is needed. The radiator end connections have minimal volume, and it is only the sump that has clearance for the aircon compressor (hence the reduced oil content).

I've got a 2.0HDI which has started having intermittent problems starting when hot. Always OK when cold and once started runs normally. Issue seems to arise after a longish run when everything is hot.

I'm assuming that the fuel pumps and rail pressure sensor are all OK because it does start fine from cold. So I'm wondering about an...

1. replace the coolant Temp Sensor .....

2. fit the Hot Start Fix resistor from a BMW/GM diesel engine

The poor hot starting is caused by internal wear in the injector pump,when it gets warm the internal clearances open up and the pump produces a smaller start...

Looking on ebay there are several performance chips offering more power and more economy. anyone had any experience of these? I find it hard to accept the claims on the basis of something for nothing is generally a bit of a con. Advice welcome please

hi, I have got a 2.0 hdi xantia x reg with 205,000 on the clock. Starts first time every tme but last few days I notice the temp and stop light both flashing together.I checked the coolant and topped up,It took roughly a pint of water,but it's still happening...Is this anything to worry about?? cheers......deano

I have got this a couple of times while over taking at high revs which was unnerving, but it flashes for a minute then goes out, or if I park up and switch the car on and off it is out.

I wonder if it should be doing that at any stage of its life or does something need replacing

Hi,

I have a problem on an S reg 1.9td LX Xantia, series two, colour coded bumpers.

The speedo records that I'm doing 150+ while at a stand still and the Rev counter is maxed out too.

It isn't counting any miles and hasn't done since about 2008, still stuck at 58K

I've read about the dry joints at 50mph and about the wire through the reset...

Guys all of a sudden about 4 days ago my Xantia TD decided to make it hard work starting it from cold :roll: . Once the engine has been run and has warmed up a touch it starts fine.

A good poke around led me to discover a split fuel leak off hose (the ones between each injector) which was found when using the priming bulb and hearing a leaking...

One for the punters and experts alike - some harmless speculation. I don't yet know the answer.

My Xantia suspension makes a tink noise when driven moderately to hard on rough surfaces. Perhaps akin to dropping a 3/16 ball bearing into a glass-lined sugar bowl. Sound appears to be on the driver's side.

Triangle bushes may be 10K miles old....

Got the 4 new tyres fitted yesterday - MICHELIN ENERGY SAVERS

Tyre widths do vary a lot between brands, so a 205 of one make will be a slightly different width to another make. So some brands appear chunky and have a bulbus sidewall and others look skinnier and sit more flush with the wheel rim. Others have rim protecting ribs and others dont. Tyres vary a lot even in the same size.

Indeed...especially when it's about -10°C and you have to sit in the back of a Picasso waiting for it not to happen (the battery is under the passenger seat - at least it's nice and clean :roll: ) so you can change the battery when it has decided enough is enough at -15°C.

I have a Citroen Xantia 2000 (W reg) 1.9TD auto, and the manufacturer's handbook gives the towing limit as 900KG, although all other models in this range have a towing limit of 1200KG.

This is considerably less than 85% of the unladen weight of the vehicle which is 1336KG. In fact the manufacturers handbook says that the towing limit in France...

I have one with such a light clutch its hard to believe, its almost worth taking it apart to find out why, I'm pretty sure it must be the wrong one but it grips perfectly. I have had six others that you need both feet to push it out. I certainly don't need a conversion for this one but maybe for another.

Hi Guys
I need some help,
I've brought a 1996 106 1.5D (same as a saxo) for my doughter's 18th with 66K on the clock,
It's got a smokey engine (blue smoke) and only runns on 3 on startup (with black smoke for a few seconds) which is probably glow plugs,
It's had a new rad so I thought it was head gasket after overheating,
so I pulled the head off...

With the wet weather today causing condensation on the windows of my HDi I turned on the air conditioning in order to remove it but within seconds of pushing the A/C button both the Stop and coolant temperature lights started flashing (the temperature gauge displayed normal operating temperature of just over 80°C), turning off the A/C stopped the...

Maybe the Bitron output I'm thinking about (Pin D1 of the earlier 30-pin socket?) comes up in other measurement tests, rather than diagnostic mode, as it's a voltage read only.
There's the harness tester for such tests, I don't know how you'd go about that on a Lexia 3, on my Lexia 2 the automatic harness tester is a box located under the Lexia...

I've been trying to get my Lexia working. It appears that it's loaded OK on the laptop but when I try to activate, it asks for an RRDI code. The pages I've printed off tell me that the RRDI code is 001 but when I enter that, I get an error message saying it's an invalid code. Where am I going wrong?

Xantia is s2 2.0 CT Exclusive (i still think citroen should have kept pallas) Estate.

Do swap the AS Sphere. Because it seems to do nothing, it is so often ignored and overlooked but it is there for a reason.

Recharged spheres should always be tested before fitting. I've had duff ones in the past and thankful I have a tester so that I can be sure of what I'm fitting. Otherwise I'd have ended up chasing red herrings all over the...

The reverse lights on my C5 are becoming intermittent, sometimes they are on when engaging reverse and other times they wont come on. I know if they are working or not becuase at the same time the reverse lights come on the C5 beep sounds to warn me ive just put it in reverse.

Does anyone know what might be the cause of my intermittent lights?...

On the rear height adjuster (in the middle just in front of the rear center sphere) there is a dollop of LHD liquid on the adjuster, there are no pipes that I can see, only the electric wires connecting it up, where on hell is this fluid coming from.
It came up on an advisory on the last MOT and I would like to sort it but don't know where to...

Hi Cachaciero, Think its a lot better since I put the thing back on the other way, thing is the short bar with a ball clip on either end that is attached to the susp bar and the electrical switch. Didn't remove the switch so hopefully it cured it. At least it goes up and down on its own accord now.

I would like to change my Xantia 90Hdi for another Xantia, this time a bit more 'exciting'.
Which model do people suggest?
I'd want it in estate form. And would like activa suspension. Or would Hydractive be a big improvement on my 'normal' set-up and with less potential problems than activa?

Just want to clarify, if my Googling is correct.

Understanding #1: The codes are available through any dealer without delay, as the database is accessed via their internet connection.

Understanding #2: This code is the one you enter when coding in new keys with Lexia.

Am I right?

It (Fauxia) wasn't needed, fortunately - one happy camper, despite his closest locksmith having to hand finish the key!

Examining some '95 era PSA keys here, I do think the one he has is not original. The blade retained with rollpins was what originally made me suspect a chipped key.

Hi All,

I am an ex peugeot 406 hdi 90 owner but sadly my 2001 406 died 2 days ago with a modest 290k miles on it ( fuel pressure regulator fault ), so I have bought myself a 52 plate C5 2.0 HDi 110 LX Estate with 90k miles for £1800. It is immaculately clean inside and out.

So I have a few questions i would be very grateful if you guys could...

Well after a spell with peugeot planet fixing a boost pressure problem on my wifes 307 I have decided to come back to adding cruise to my c5 and swapping the MFD for a 3 line model.

Makes sense seems i now have the PP2000 and Lexia kit.

I removed the offside engine mount (the metal engine mounting-to-body bracket) today, for cambelt access. The engine was supported on a trolley jack, with a piece of wood going between the sump and the rear engine mount. The engine mounting bracket came off easily with the engine obviously supported ok by the trolley jack. When I came to...

back along I had a problem on the V6 where the pressure regulator tick rate was very short when the suspension was in soft mode but normal when in hard mode.

It was covered rather extensively in this thread .

Recently, the problem returned and it was getting so bad, the car was ticking like a cheap watch :roll: Not good as it puts a strain on...

Hi

This is my first post.
Hope its not too silly a question, but my wife has a 2000 xantia 1.8i 16v
I checked the manual and it says coolant should be between min/max on radiator header box (which makes sense).
But having looked......its a black box with no visible min/max markings.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

Often, if you fill to this level, you may find it won't hold it and the level will drop to the bottom of the tube. This is fine as many Xantias seem to like to blow out what they don't want and establish a natural status-quo at the bottom of the tube.
Until I had the matrix replaced, I would have agreed 100% with this.

Well I went out at 6am this morning, started the 2.0 up, popped the hood, and... The coolant resovior was empty! And there was anti-freeze splattered all over the engine bay. And after more investigation the main radiator hose had been repaired some time by a mechanic (most probably a Kwik-Fit mechanic by the looks of it!!), with duct tape!! There...

I'm in need of some new autobox fluid and I'm after some advice. I've seen the following on Ebay -

I would like to know if this is suitable. From speaking to Jim a couple of months back I know he recommends the fluid you get directly from Citroen (part number 9736.22). Just thought I'd ask before heading to the dealer. Thanks everyone.

Any Ideas on this strange parts (CV joint) problem:

For my xantia II estate, year 2000, I ordered an ABS CV joint. They're meant to be the same , reagrdless of estate or saloon. Citroen tech list the driveshaft as per my VIN, as No. as 3273 9W

The CV joint for '93 to 2001 models, I received is 135 mm long, but the one I've taken off is 143mm...

Hi all, I've got a bit of a strange fault on my 52 reg Relay van 2.0 Hdi.

I noticed a few weeks ago a lack of power for a few seconds after just exiting the motorway.
Just after that, the speedometer was fluctuating in the speed it was showing, sometimes going back to zero whilst actually moving.

At first I thought it was some sort of fuel...

I am putting this down to some ropey diesel, as the problem is starting to clear itself after a few fill ups and a dose of Millers Ecomax diesel treatment.
Think I'll start to use the Millers again on every fill up, as I can definitely tell the difference in the way the vehicle runs when using it.

Am i right in thinking to disable the egr valve on a 2 lt diesel c5 i only have to remove the vacuum pipe and plug the pipe.

There is a proper tool (clic pliers) for it but you can remove & refit them without damaging them with normal side cutters.

So having replace the lower arms, ARB bushes, track rod ends and now finally the lower ball joints which I got a local garage to do, I find I have another knocking noise from the front which wasn't there before I started :cry:

I've had the front end off the ground with both wheels off and tried everything I can to find something loose but...
