I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

So I've done the easy bit and got myself a new heater matrix. Have to go and fit it now. Any tips? Do I just start stripping everything from the centre of the dash till I find it or what?

Hi, I've a new foam on the way for Fiat Ulysse (C8 Pug 807 in disguise) as the old driver's side one is saggy. It's only the seat squab, not the backrest. I'm assuming that the foam is glued (or sprayed) onto the sear cloth. Has anyone any experience of doing this? TIA!

my friends P reg TD XANT sound like a bog of nails as reported in onther posts regarding the lift sensor,

the loom plug going to the sensor is two pin as we all know, but there are three wires in the loom plug, one being an earth, which pin dose this piggy back onto as its floating around not connected, pin No. 1 or 2 and could this cause the bag...

Xantia - replacing front brake flexi hoses

Hi guys, changed the front brake pads yesterday and noticed the front brake flexi hoses have started to crack. Have got new ones on order from AEP as local shop can't get them. Changed the rear suspension spheres too,thanks for the super guide!

The join to the caliper looks standard but where it joins onto the metal brake pipe looks a bit funny....

I want to change the fuel filter as the car is running rough at idle and I know its not been changed, but on looking at the filter I cannot see how you take the old one off without damaging the fuel pipe !!

Well still trying to turn off my tyre sensors but can not talk to the computer??? Malcolm kindly sent me the rpo number but when I connect the lexia it reads the vin number and the car model etc but then returns Data from Portal incorrect check your configuration ?? garage managed to do it without removing too much in the end and got the price right down!!

Well I can happily say that the inner track rod took no more than 10 mins to remove, got a nice big set of stilsons on it and out it came! The droplink took longer to remove as I had to cut the bolt off!

Hi All

Just spotted my front drive shaft gaiter has got a small hole about 4mm Dia at the small end of the drive shaft. It look like its been knawed at, but looks repairable as its on the small end that doesn't flex that much.

Does anybody know what type of repair patch i could use for this hole ? I suspect a cycle repair patch isn't man...

Normally, the quick and dirty fix is a vac-down, however while this detects stuff like torn O-rings and corrosion holes, it doesn't often detect failing rubber hoses or shaft seals as it pulls the damage tight, sealing it again. The dye - if they added it - will reveal the leaks occurring under pressure (you can buy a cheap UV torch from Fleabay...

Engine Temperature - erratic! (C8 2.2Hdi)

Ok, cold engine - after less than a mile the gauge shoots up to 130c - with accompanying warning beep and red light. After about a minute, gauge drops to the expected below 50c as engine not yet warmed up at all.

Park for an hour - gauge now remains stuck at bottom of range for 10 miles or more - but cabin heater working nicely. Switch off....

Sorry for the delay - the new sender cured the problem, and I suspect got the BSI fuelling the motor much better. Still having the occasional anti-pollution fault message, but thinks it's the EGR valve. New one sitting here in garage, but looks like a horrible job!

Ny mirror got knocked off on saturday night by hooligans and although I have managed to bodge it back on so I can use it the wiring in there is goosed and completely disconnected. I went out to check the oil level on my van yesterday morning and found the dipstick tube was flapping around the engine bay. It looks like the retaining bracket has snapped. I've managed to make a temporary repair using a couple of cable ties but obviously it will need replacing in the long term.

Went to go to work this morning and found this lovely modification..

Nothing taken by the looks of it but the door is wrecked. I've never seen another Xantia in this light green colour either, so it looks like paint will be needed on a new door. All in all quite an expensive morning thanks to some sticky fingered scum.

Hi all,

Citroen C5 is so rare here. I would love to see how your C5 look like, particularly, those who have spent sometimes beautifying their rides, whether interior or exterior.

I put up a few pics of my old C5 here for sharing. Note that I don't really like those chrome/slivery stuff (loud colours) hence I conceal them with stickers.

Locked out of my C4 !

Gone to unlock my 2005 C4 Hdi and the remote has failed (the unlock microswitch has fallen off again) gone for the passenger side lock and it doesn't work ! I have tried positioning the switch over the contacts but still it won't unlock. Is there any other way in?

I'm about to experiment with a cheap repair solution to the aluminium suspension cylinder corrosion problem... even cheaper than buying a second hand one!!
I'm going to file off the rim of the cylinder, which succumbs to the corrosion, salt I guess, and replace it with a dowty washer.
This washer has a bonded membrane to replace the rubber seal...

it was mentioned that a proposed temporary fix to his banjo with a copper washer would require the washer to be annealed by heating it up to cherry red then quenching it in cold water. I never even thought of doing that when I tried my adapted copper washer sphere to rear cylinder repair. Probably another...

c5 brake pedal not always consistent

Hi guys

Im hoping u can help as my mechanic can not seem to find the problem.....and this may not be his fault. So here is the problem
Sometimes when I press my brake pedal it seems to be a bit harder than other times and I seem to loose a bit of brake pressure. That is I have to press the pedal a bit harder to stop the car.

You dont give the year of your car, but there have been recalls due to brake assist problems on some C5's

Check number 10 specifically, although there could be more for different years.

Low oil level.

After a brisk 500+ miles earlier this week, the low oil warning and the service warning came on the following morning. I topped up the oil but the warning to check oil level and the service warning still come on when I start the engine. The oil level warning disappears but the service warning stays on. Any way of getting rid of these warnings...

Mine was definitely showing low on the dipstick. After topping up, the incorrect oil level and service warnings disappeared after a few engine starts. I'll mention the oil pump when I get it serviced, but the oil pump is also covered by my three year warranty so if it goes and takes anything with it, according to the small print, it's all covered.

Over the last few months, my grandmother has been mentioning a light coming up on my car . Unfortunately I don't speak geriatric and of course, she never thinks to memorise what the light looks like or what the screen says when it comes up!

I have just purchased a Connect2, which will give me an Aux Input instead of my CD Multi-Changer.

What I would like some more advice with is : Where should my new Aux Lead emerge from the Console?

I would like to have it emerge into the rear of the Ashtray which is positioned beneath the Climate Controls....

Door lock C5 mk1 question?

On a few occasions when unlocking the car the drivers door remains locked, a few presses of lock/unlock usually gets it to open or have to open from the inside. Get to my destination and all working.

Can be fine for week and then play up several times a week,
is this a common fault?
is a new lock needed?
does lock need some WD40?
could it be...

I've recently noticed this broken pushrod on the right hand side of my engine (2.2 HDi). Pics attached.
