I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

It doesn't really matter where you blank it, If your blanking it at the manifold then it doesn't matter if its stuck open or not, if the exhaust gasses can't enter the inlet manifold then it won't cause any loss of power.

Following on from my topic about the 4hp20 gearbox, one of the gearbox specialist who I rang said that as part of their service they would update the software on the car to the latest versions....is there updates available to the ECU softwares? of was it just salesman bullshit? My 1994 xantia is getting past its sell by date and I was considering getting a fairly early C5 hdi but looking on the forum it seems to be the most problems on the forum are with the C5 not least of all the posting by HDI, my question is would I be better off looking for a late xantia 2.0 hdi I use my car for mostly short trips but also fairly...

The current unit has indicators, wipers and radio control stalk but I was wondering can I get a comms unit that also has cruise control stalk and if so can this be fitted which would then give me cruise control or is there more to it than that?

Lexia does not work on 64Bit OSes (XP, Vista or 7)! diagbox does but I assume your '05 C5 will use Lexia., so if your Win7 is 64bit, you'll either need to Dual Boot or use a VM. VM is simpler than dual booting, and isn't that difficult to set up.

initially failed for a broken cv gaiter clip and rear brake imbalance. Nice diy job and £34 (jub clip and 2 wheel cylinders) later its a pass =D>

a couple of advisories but nothing to worry about.

The waste gate is controlled by the ECU on the 2.0 TCT, so I'm assuming that error means that the ECU is not happy with the boost pressure reading its getting when trying to regulate the boost pressure...

Will the Lexia show you the measured boost pressure in the parameters measurement section ? Looking at that while revving or driving the car...

If they haven't been changes in that long and such low miles I bet they aren't happy and for the price a change is cheap enough.

The boost pressure could be the turbo over boosting. Drive the car gentle and off boost as best you can and see if the light stays off. If it stays as a permanent fault then the pressure sensor is possibly faulty....

failed it mot for this, whats the most likely cause?

it a 1.4 mk1 berlingo with drum brakes, drivers side side wheel freely, passenger side u can hear the shoes occasionally against the drum (not on the drivers side though) but rotates freely.

ive changed both the wheel cylinders since the mot, any other ideas?

I considering buying an automatic 3.0L C5 ( make year 2006-2008 )( keeping my Xantia ) any pros or cons for that car ? I heard that he steering may be problematic, is that true? Any problems with the gear ?

Stempy -I'm certain you'll have to remove the bumper to get at the washer reservoir, it's tucked up out of the way and is otherwise pretty inaccessible.
It's actually a fairly easy job but another pair of hands to help support the bumper is a good idea.

Another question! Looks like the differential pressure sensor is wrong. I tried to measure it, but I'm not sure which one is signal cable. I measured 3 different voltage 1 pink wire 0.54V, White wire 0.05V, red wire 3.9V. The engine been turned off.
Are they good measures or not?

Slight oil drip from centre of engine bay

Still got a very slight oil drip which seems to come from the centre of the engine bay onto my driveway. It is a dark brown oil so I guess it's engine oil. The car is going in to another workshop on Monday for a diagnosis. The drip seems to happen when the engine is started and as the car cools down when it is parked. It's not a big drip but...

Could be all kinds of things I'm afraid, best way to tell would be to pop under there with a torch and a can of brake cleaner to see if you can find the source.

Moving car on LOW

Can I hand push the car while it's on LOW and the pump and LHM tank are disconnected?

Just have to move it in my garage due to bad weather about 15 meters. Will be LHM squirting out of the disconnected pipes while steering?

Are you stripping the lot right back down and re-assembling as it could be worth while as it would mean you can paint up the block and other bits in some HT paint and possibly put some cheap heat webbing on the downpipe and exhaust manifold while your there and keep the engine bay in great nick as i always love spending the time cleaning bits up...

front wheel bearing/hub carrier fitment

when fitting a new front wheel bearing , is it fitted first to the hub carrier and then finally is the hub then fitted through the new bearing centre.

If so do i heat the hub carrier up and freeze the bearing which then leaves me with just the hub to fit through the bearing.
Since the hub is an interference fit ,do i just freeze it overnight...

I'm sure I remember CitroJim saying that the XM with ES9J4 has a 4HP20 with a different final drive ratio to the 4HP20 in a Xantia with the same ES9J4 engine. Not only that but the ECU is programmed differently to accept the different final drive ratio, so the final drive ratio of gearbox and ECU have to match otherwise the ECU throws up a fault...

I recently bought a Citroen C5 1.6Hdi mk2, after 3000 miles i got an antipollution fault. I have a elm327 scanner and i got 2 different pending fault. One of them is P0470 and a second is P1351. I know the P0470 fault is an exhaust back sensor, but my question is where to locate this sensor?

Hey guys

So far we have ~40kg stripped from its natural weight including spare wheel and tools, airbag covers, trim from inside the doors, everything from the boot and more.

What metalwork is there that's not structural?

Don't know what's behind the door cards but they'll be coming off in a couple of days to see.

What would you remove or cut...

hi guys need a bit of help,my td conked out the over night,seems as if air getting in fuel system,ive changed all fuel pipe under bonnet starts but lumpy and smokey,tried running it out of a fuel can rigged up under bonnet still same primer bulb goes very soft,just notice that every no and again i get fuel injector light come on,shes got 168,000...

The sat nav system is currently on version rneg_D_R20h_R20.16 - is it worth updating to the latest version (50?) or just leave it as it is?

Hi, I bought leather seats from KP on the forum they are in great condition and everything works except the heaters which I am sure is a problem with the car, I have checked the fuse and that is OK, there is no power at the plugs just in front of the gear lever is there a relay and if so where is it please.

C5 exhaust heat shield - do i need it????

Hi

Am fitting a towbar on my C5 and the heat shield above the rear exhaust box is just floating around as all the fixings have corroded.

Do I actually need to have this above the rear box. I wouldn't have thought it gets hot and I can't see what it would protect anyway if it did.

Well, given my auto gearbox predicament :roll: , what sort of dosh are we looking at for something half decent?

I suppose it's a case of, how long's a piece of string?

The best price guide is Ebay, as you watch an auction you can see what price it actually sells for - that's what it worth. Its also generally the cheapest place to buy, especially if you don't mind doing a bit of work. I wouldn't have an auto, largely because of your problem.

Laptop for Lexia

I'm thinking of buying a dedicated laptop for my Lexia clone, as it won't install on one of mine, and turns off the display for any other application on the other!
Can anyone recommend a cheap model which has been successfully been tried and tested with the Lexia, please?

Lately, I was greeted by “Check Engine Oil Level” when I turned on the engine. I thought may be it is a norm for an old year 2007 engine to consume some oil. The most common cause of engine oil use in the petrol 16v engines is hardening of the valve stem seals, causing oil to be consumed b the engine. Quite a large job Iam afraid
With my Xantia I did engine flush each time I changed oil and it helped a lot the condition of seals. The oil consumption was almost nothing considering the age of the car...

C5 Mark 2, what happens when you unlock the doors?

Went to my C5 (2007 173BHP 2.2) pressed the unlock door button on the remote and this very loud ticking/catching noise came from the engine bay and lasts about 5 seconds. At first i thought it was something to do with suspension pump as C5s start rising from when you unlock the doors unlike the Xantia etc, but making the suspension go up and down...

- the mirrors unfold,
- ECU wakes up (interesting technical sounds from some where in engine bay)
- I guess also the air condition flaps arrange their positions,
- Instrument panel wakes up

Not I, but despite that the interior foam padding on the drivers seat of my 2001 C5 LX estate is beginning to break up.
The seat is staring to display a strange lumpy appearance on the side bolsters and base cushion.

I'm assuming the easiest option would be to find a complete seat unit rather than trying to get hold of just the cushions?

While working on the car I noticed that the negative battery clamp didn't seem to want to clamp properly, looking underneath I found this: #-o

What's the best way to repair it ? I assume it requires some special tool to crimp a new terminal on the cable properly, or do I need to buy a whole lead complete with pre-crimped terminal ? :?...

If you look at that link posted up theres a block you can get that has many holes for wires or you can get a block like that then have one main wire back to pos terminal.
check the wire out from terminal as gets hard and cracks.
Chop terminal off with pair of side cutters etc and if you have a captive...

The caliper , when replacing, only usually comes with the piston, which you then bolt onto the caliper mount with two 13mm bolts (spanner size) . It is the sliders that these bolts go into that seize, and not the caliper itself.
Usually the only way to repair is to remove these sliders and clean them meticulously, or replace the caliper mount...

Okay,

having sorted most of the niggling problems on my recently acquired C5 2.0hdI I'd like to get the tyre pressure fault code taken off (as the tyre pressure sensors have been!).

I'll be over in the UK for a week in October staying with the in-laws so can anybody recommend a good Indy near Loughborough please?

The deflection in the belt is reasonably normal when revving the engine, it is caused by the different speeds of each pulley fighting against each other at certain revs.
