The VSX has an irritating habit, worse until engine gets up to temperature, of the revs surging as I change gear. No, it's not an inability to co-ordinate both feet and left hand! Am I right in vaguely remembering reading something about a mechanical damper on this Lucas pump? Or is this something in the ECU mapping?

There's no damper on an EPIC Guy, it's all done electronically..

The throttle pot is under the airbox and is cable operated from the pedal!

The likely causes of surging are air ingress (the EPIC is unbelievably sensitive to it) or ESOS valves beginning to fail. The problem is most likely the former and leakoff pipes are a big suspect.

These 2.0 16v diesels can be impossible to bleed, in the workshop we suck the fuel through the green tabbed return pipe with my suction oil machine, as repeated cranking with no fuel can damage the pump.

My Wife's MK3 Dispatch failed its MOT on a front Wheel bearing, I've ordered a new bearing cause I'm not paying £200 for the garage to do it ! Is there a cheapish bearing removal kit out there which I can buy to do the job myself ?

I've always been under the impression that the part the strut gaiter mounts on should protrude down from the rest of the strut top by around 10mm, as seen on this picture of my VSX:

However not all strut tops are like this, as can be seen in this photo:

For the last couple of winters, my wifes runaround, ZX N reg dt. The heater dosnt blow hot. There is a very slight difference between adjusting the temp control knob from, cold to hot. As far as I am aware 195/65/15 was never a standard fit on a Xantia. It was either 185/65/15 if on steels or smaller petrol engines and 205/60/15 on the cars with alloys and larger engines.

195/65/15 is a common size on the XM and earlier C5s but not on Xantias.

Another look at the blower tonight in total darkness. We originally assumed the ignition lock as the problem and so did I because it appeared the blower once came to life after moving the key. Anyway, took the lock switch to bits, cleaned it, re-assembled it and blower never worked since. BUT:

Hi all my xantia estate hdi has just failed its mot on both front suspension arm rubber bush deteriated and a split drive shaft gaiter. Not bad for a car with 205k on th clock

Make sure to disconnect the battery first, and wait at least 10 minutes before doing anything to the connectors. You don't want an airbag going off while you are working on them. If you have access to a Lexia then this would help pinpoint the fault.

As I was parking at work this morning I noticed the spanner symbol on the odometer, apparently it thinks I am 50 miles overdue for a service despite the fact that I could have sworn it was telling me I had nearly 8000 miles to go last time I looked.

Hi, I was cleaning the car and noticed that from under the front wheel arches the mounts seemed in good shape but realised that all hell could be breaking loose where I cant see in between, now would it be a good idea to un bolt the strut mounts/top mounts and either paint with a good quality anti rust paint and cover it in thick grease and...

i personally belive the metal only starts to rust after the bonded rubber coating starts to break down/perish/crack,
this in turn allows the wet to get to the metal, and also wet gets trapped between the metal parts and the rubber

I've just done this on my Xantia - the Haynes manual is very vague on this job. I ended up uncliping the front of the fascia :oops: which is a nightmare to replace correctly without it repeatedly spitting out the rubber baffles on the slider controls.

When you get access to the unit there is a black cover on the top part which clips off 2 large...

Hello. I live in Hemsedal, one of the largest ski resorts in the Norwegian mountains.
I have been driving a 2006 C5 break for almost 5years now.
Have had the common Depolution system faulty error coming a few times a year.

Does anyone know if the front calliper slider seals and rubber boot for the calliper handbrake lever are available as a separate part and/or where might I obtain such?

Thanks, had seen the link, but seems they only do rebuilt etc. Other kits don't show the handbrake lever seal; curious unless it's a generic which applies to all vehicles.

The Plastic Pin holding rear door glass to window regulator come adrift, resulting in window going up, but only coming down with some help. Also when closing window with window control switch on door, the glass does not stop at the top, it continued moving by changing direction at the top, and goes down about 100mm before stopping.

Anyone know what's behind this rubber boot on the rear suspension?

Noticed after mot when car let down on the ramp jacks.

The trick to re-pressurising is to loosen the cap with the suspension on its highest setting then re-tighten, then lower it.

It should only need doing with a pump to force fluid into the pump to prime it if it has been run dry.

C5 lll Myway firmware upgrade questions

My 2010 C5 III, Myway satnav, sd card type, is running RNEG 27, I believe that 40 is the latest version. I am happy with it, but will need to buy a new phone soon so maybe an upgrade would be useful.

The 2 routes to upgrade seem to be dealer or download from a post on gpsunderground forum.

Citroen C3vtr 1.4 +hdi conrod has come through the engine block at 36000 miles 3 year old and 37 days outwith warranty. The car was recalled 8 months ago to replace the conrod shells due to premature deterioration which could lead to engine failure; the work was done by the dealership.

Hi, Would I cause any damage to the suspension/hydraulics if i was to drive off Straight after the STOP light in red has switched off, only that the car still seems to be going up slighlty from front then rear. Or should i wait for the car to be fully on its ride height before driving regardless if the STOP light is off, only when I drop the kids...

Driveshaft intermediate bearing

Is there a secret to getting the driveshaft intermediate bearing out? The one I have seems 'reluctant'. It's a Xantia XUD9TF (now mounted in a peugeot expert).
Is it OK to unbolt the engine mount, (and lever it off the spigots putting it a few mm out of line) before pulling the driveshaft out of the gearbox so I can then worry about separating...

So today I got around to spending a little fettling time on the old C5. First job, drained and refilled the autobox. I measured the out coming which was 4.2 litres so refilled with the same amount plus a little extra for losses in the draining and measuring process. Hopefully the level will be correct as getting to that level check plug is too...

I think the Alternator on my Xantia is on the way out. Has been a whining noise from the engine bay since I bought it, that sounds electrical/bearing related as its a higher pitch than everything else.
Engine revs not speed related.

Anyhoo today had a motorway run to make and the battery warning light started to flicker a few times. Soon...

Is there a fuel filter in C5 II Petrol? If there is one, where is the location?

I changed cabin filter and air filter today but couldn't find/see fuel filter under the car.
I checked about the same area as in Xantia, front of rear tire.
