C5 lll Myway firmware upgrade questions

Post by Richard_C »

My 2010 C5 III, Myway satnav, sd card type, is running RNEG 27, I believe that 40 is the latest version. I am happy with it, but will need to buy a new phone soon so maybe an upgrade would be useful.

The 2 routes to upgrade seem to be dealer or download from a post on gpsunderground forum.

Has anyone upgraded using the 'unofficial' route? Was it OK?
Has anyone had a dealer do it, if so what did it/should it cost? Service due soon so maybe able to bundle it in
Apart from added phone compatibility, what else changes?
Do you lose any old features or older compatibility?

Thanks

I updated to ver 50 using the file from GPSunderground with no issues. I think most of the changes were bug fixes and tweaks rather than increased functionality. I haven't had any compatibility issues on v.50 and I've tried it with iPhones, Nokias and Sony's.

Cheers

Thanks Nev

My old Palm Centro works a treat, old Samsungs (E250 and J700i) also fine. My wife's Nokia 113, dead basic but newish, connects, disconnects, powers itself off, then on, then connects ...you get the picture ... on a 60 second cycle which is why I am worrying about what to buy. The Centro, vintage 2006, is past its peak and needs frequent percussive maintenance.

Will gather up the nerve to do the diy fix then, but if the firmware install fail I guess its goodbye satnav and radio. Worry, worry ....

I see you are in Cambridgeshire, me also, close to Duxford Citroen who seem to be a cut above the average dealership.

The main thing with the updates is to keep the engine running whilst you are updating so the car doesn't go into economy 'sleep' mode. You can do the updates whilst driving, but you won't have the benefit of radio or satnav during the upgrade process, and it's quite clear when the process has completed as everything comes back to life. The updates can be done via a CD or via an SD card - but make sure either only has the firmware update on it !
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

Good idea, the law of murphy the elder means a dire DPF blocked warning will probably arrive if I do it ticking over on the drive

Useful to know

Good point

I have a few critical big work trips in the next 2 weeks, will wait until that is done as I don't really want to clock up any 600 mile days in the C3 or Synergie, then give it a go.

Thanks.
