I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Sylv's car has a tiny but, what is considered to be acceptable, voltage drain. Approx 50mA at rest with everything off.

I have traced it, i believe, to the alarm led that sits below the clock.

The drain is occurring on F8 (ZX) which services, Clock, Interior Lighting, Boot lighting, central locking, alarm and siren.

There is a voltage of 60mV...

I have a car with a leaky gearbox and i am going to try one of the highly recommended American
addatives called Tri-seal gearbox seal reconditioner.

2004 Picasso Auto Brake pedal switch

Hi,
Ive a 2004 Auto Picasso. My brake light is stuck on and I know its the switch as when I raise the pedal back up, only a few mm of play, the lights go out. From searching this is a common fault with Picassos.

Ive removed the felt buf can't see any switch? As this is an Auto, ie no clutch, I suspect the set up may be a bit different down...

Some of you might have seen me mention about some different wheels before but I thought I'd pop a poll up on here...

At the moment my C4 is running it's original 17 Pastenague alloys finished in a sort of matt/off Black colour...

What I've been tempted with are the 19 Cairns alloys from the DS4 and DS5 which are also finished in a matt/off...

Probably for the best as your C4 is a beast anyway! As regards the poll a man just hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest Paul Simon said that, but I've found it to be profoundly true in most cases.

.... what is this Back Box hidden behind the drivers wing with sealed wires connection going to it???

I have rescued it and the COMPLETE full harness right from the massive connector in the scuttle to the fuse box etc...

I hadn't spotted at first but when the Windows were misted up a mile down the road I noted the blower wasn't running and the heater rear window wasn't responding to the switch. All other worked so spotted to check fuses and switched off. Ignition back on fora second and suddenly both are working again.

Is this likely to be the ignition switch on...

My 2.2 Hdi has done 160k miles and the tick over is a bit rough so, I'm thinking of having something done to the injectors.

There are 3 options as far as I can tell:-

1. Ultrasonic cleaning, but this won't have any effect on worn parts of the injector.

Decided to try the local Citroen dealer as there was a particular repair that my trusty indy would not touch (front strout leaking) as the car is a C5 Exclusive 2008- with Hydractive suspension.
I got a quote for £550 (including VAT and labor) for replacing the strout, 2xfront disk pads, 2xfront disks and 1xfront antiroll bar linkage.

one strout (these are quite expensive for hydractive suspension citroens), 2xfront disk pads, 2xfront disks and replaced both front antiroll bar linkages as one was a bit wobbly and didn't want to have advisories.
£560 and generaly satisfied from the service as the guy seemed to know what he was doing

Thinking of buying from a private seller. Last MOT earlier this year mentions light misting at passengers side front suspension. It has the hydractive III suspension so not sure what to make as if I saw that sort of leak on a conventional absorber I would most likely replace it. Was quoted £190+VAT only for the part from Citroen plus around £150...

I would like to try a Twizy, Looks like an intriguing concept. Though I dont think it would fit in with my car use, most of my journeys are on roads with a 70mph minimum speed limit.

Hi folks

Odd one here. I have noticed that when driving the Xant, I get this wind howl sound, especially around 50-60 mph. You can also hear gusts of wind hitting the car by the change in tone.Hard to say where its coming from but it appears to be worse when there are other people in the car! Maybe its just psychological! I assume maybe door...

went away for my birthday to venice - the `bus` was parked up for 5 days at southend longstay - came back and great , she started first time BUT , accelerating up the A road , I was laying down a smoke screen! power was still there , but my gosh it was smokey!

My daughter's C3 appears to have blown a headlight bulb.
Scheduled replacement is Saturday or Sunday (car doesn't stand still for very long :( )

Anyone know if this is a bumper-off job? Old model (56 plate). Done all the other cars but this is the first on the C3.

Is there anyway to adjust the level of them? Can't find the manual. They seem to be too low. It's like driving an XM series 1 on unlit roads. Positively dangerous when oncoming traffic takes all my light away and I can't see the road edges..

What type of headlight bulbs does the C5 take? In the past I have seen Aldi/Lidl do pairs of Tesla bulbs for around £4 (either high powered or blue tint) and I have used the high powered ones and liked them. Although Aldi are doing car bits this Thursday they are not doing light bulbs.

As jim and a few others will know I have been borrowing my Fathers P-Reg Xantia VSX for a while since my cambelt went on my Xantia S2 and broke its camshaft.
The other day I was doing the aerobics bit with the VSX and after about three complete cycles up and down the nose and the rear end acting independantly (one end at a time) on the way...

I think I'm going to need to replace the pads. Is it a straight forward job like the front pads? I know on older cars that it was a real PITA when you had druns and you had to wind the brake back, because of the handbrake.

Hi Guys,

Got back from Austria fine in Sylv's car but returned to a call from a friend whose C5 is sinking at the rear when switched off within 15 minutes so it loos as though his anti-sink valve may have gone but I haven't gone into it and checked elsewhere on the forum as yet and will do later.

It sounds like it could be a strut thats failing around the sphere to strut interface.

My advice if it is,

Get some small metal saw blades and gently cut the metal around the interface with the flat of the blade right up against the sphere. This will then cut away the soft corroded metal and allow you to get the sphere off. Otherwise the only...

engine noise

My 91 reg C5 has developed an engine noise I can only describe as the sound of a fly wheel spinning when I apply the gas when I reach the desired speed and come of the gas slightly the noise disappears. A garage said it could be cam problems. Any advice on what it could be

I've got a Mk1 1.9TD Xantia with a fast idle that stays on when the engine is hot. I've checked out the vacuum diaphragm and it works because when I rev up by pulling the throttle lever I can see the diaphragm pull the fast idle lever back. The problem is that it doesn't do it when the car is at normal operating temperature, as I believe it should...

I had this problem for a long time with My S2 xantia but it turned out to be a tiny split in the vacumn pipes that connect
the the elctrovalves on the bulkhead inbetween the Vacumn pump on the end of the camshaft and the LHM tank.
the split was in the smallest lenght of tube and hardly visable being at the back against the bulkhead...

Anybody know where I could get cross-sectional blueprints of a front suspension cylinder for Xantia?. It's possible to try to fix a leaking cylinder?? Any expert in this forum has tried?
As you possibly know,.. soon it will not be possible to find either new or second hand :( :(

Rev counter playing up!!

My synergie 1.9 tdsx 1997, rev counter is fine till the engine revs get to 2000 and over, then it drops (needle) down to about 1200 and flickers, bring the engine back down to 2000 and the rev counter comes back up. The meter just doesnt seem to want to pass 2000, its as if its over whelemed and gives up.

High guys,
Finally got a replacement rear height corrector, courtesy of citroenxm, first class service, have had it fitted and the ride is now at least consistent but still feels a little too hard. After the old, bearing broken, cradle was lubricated the car would occasionally ride beautifully softly, not feeling any minor surface irregularities...

Thanks for that Simon. Once again you've given me a headache with information overload LOL.
Fortunately the corrector that came from citroenxm was a good clean one and was given a professional clean up and liberal greasing by the indy which fitted it, so working as well as it can.
With the best will in the world I don't think that for 1/2 hours...

Wheel Bearing

Getting a roar (no vibration) on a right hand corner, like tire roar but more...suspect wheel bearing on the way out. (Just changed the disks as well :( )

Can you suggest, 1st, it looks like a home job, is it ? (I don't have a press but I do have a hammer), 2nd any tips or special tools I will need. Pains say joint splitter, hub puller

Hi

Checked disks and calipers, new disks and pads about a month ago, Wheel spins free & no drag marks on the disk, caliper works OK and even, handbrake is fine on 5 clicks and retracts really well (considering the stupid design). It is not a drag type noise, more like increased tire rumble. (yes I have checked the pressures)

Its in for a garage...

Can't get a c5 for decent money up here so have decided to get a picasso as a second car. Thing is should I avoid a FAP model of engine. Likely 1.6 110bhp but also maybe 90bhp.

Most driving will be 70 mph type driving but also a bit around town but not sitting in traffic.

You will only get a 92bhp 2.0 in a Picasso, but IMO it is well worth it over the 1.6.

The 1.6HDi is a very good engine . . . when it's right . . . but if anything is just slightly out of kilter it's a pain in the arse to sort. The oil has to be fully synthetic 5w/30 and changed every 3k miles ( you can go to 5k/6k if you wish but you've been...
