Would £49 be a fair price for a brake fluid change?

Depends if it's just siphon and replace or a full bleed. You could dye the old fluid to show them up.

Cheers, I'd certainly ask before, but I suspect I would notice the difference more with a full bleed. If I knew where the bleed nipples were, I could mark them or paint them.
