Citroen C5 funny noise when you I turn steering wheels

Hello,
We recently opened the head of Citroen c5 2.0HD1, 2004 and replaced the valves and head gasket. Because the whole engine was removed
some LDS fluide poured out and we collected some in a container.
The car's suspension is working okay when you press the byton, though it takes longer to get to different heights
however, there is a strange noise which gets louder as you turn the steering wheel
When the steering wheel is straight, the noise is not as bad. Infact when we first put the engine on, the steering wheel was very light and it was moving by itself

The pump also makes excess noise as you turn the steering wheel.

My mechanic thinks it is because of less LDS fluide

Now the LDS fluid poured out through the pipes, and some were collected and returned to the tank
the reason being, the place where we are at the moment does not stock LDS fluide, we have asked all total petrol station
and there is none

If the problem is less hydraulic LDS fluid,
can we use ordinary synthetic ATF?
can we mix with what is in the tank or we have to drain the tank?
I have seen places where people say that Mercedes, Peugeot, BMW or Honda's ATF is similar to LDS, how true is this?
Is there any substitute for LDS and if it is what is it?
is LDS similar to LDAS?

I would only use LDS, having had experience of a C5 running on mixed fluids (not my doing!).

Some day that LHM can mix with LDS but really, not in my opinion it doesn't .

Stick with what it should have and reduce the possibility of increased work/costs later on.

Does sound like you have too low a fluid level and/or an air in the system.

Are there no Citroen or Peugeot dealers near you?

Total fuel stations generally are rather poor at selling Total products. Presumably they sell the products that they can sell most of.
Have you looked on eBay or motor spares outlets in your area.
