Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

If your car has ESP the steering angle sensor in the com2000 will need to be programmed with Lexia, if not then its plug & play.
And yes best to confirm power supplies & earth before jumping in & replacing the unit, the problems described can also be a short or open circuit in the data wires between the com2000 & the under bonnet fusebox.

Hi guys I have a 2005 citroen c5 design estate. Since january I have been having a funny tick coming from the front passenger side wheel. I have had the cv joints checked the suspension seems fine so I am stumped to know what it is. The ticking only happens if I am on hard lock right and at pulling away speed. I've just bought off ebay a 'shark type' car aerial as I want to use the roof bars on my C5 estate but the original black wire one was getting in the way. I would agree, disconnect the alternator and put an amp meter between the disconnected end and what it was connected to, check, more than a few milliamps and the alternator is faulty. If its not that could be a difficult one to find.

I just bought my Citroen #2 today, a Xsara 2003, and on the way home I noticed that the engine is not getting to 90 degree.

This is the nature of the car's temperature - when I drive in the 30 zone, I get 90 degree, in 45-60 I get 80-82 degree, in the 90+ zone I get 75-80. When it run idle it can get up to 90, then the fan kicks in and...

Well, I had the same problem with my Saxo. Trying to change the thermostat, it wasn't even there :) putting a new one inside, the car overheated.
Then either the thermostat you fitted was faulty or the wrong one, or something else was wrong with the cooling system, like a failed pump impeller or blocked radiator...

I have a 51 plate C5 2.0 HDi. It's done 160,000 miles now, bought it at 100,000 miles 18 months ago for £1200 (I do a lot of mileage). It's been a little diamond with very little being spent on it apart from servicing, brakes, alernator belt and drop links, and flew through the MOT back in April. Now it's getting close to needing a new cam...

Are you planning to do some of the work yourself or get it all done at a garage ? That can be a big deciding factor as a timing belt change is labour intensive but not that expensive parts wise, certainly for a simple (single cam ?) engine like that. Do it yourself and it wouldn't cost much at all.

After running my current car for a long time and not being happy with the suspension, I've found the following:
Before I set off on a journey I push the up button on the suspension, then after it has gone up, I set it back down again.

We have a bit of a problem with our DS3 at the moment. The Stop/Start doesn't work. Have had it in to the dealers hoping it would be covered under warranty but, apparently not :(

Can you still use the bulbs/leds that have resistor in them on non canbus car's? one's for likes of new cars BMW etc that have a paddy if use non one's.

I replaced the spheres on my VSX thats stuck on hard mode. I also
reset the HA2 ECU and it seems to be dead.

Car is barely drivable, but at least is not rock solid now.

Only thing left to try, before replacing HA2 ECU, is to see if the diode is bad on the valves. Valves work when supplied with 12 volts but ECU wont activate them.,

Can anyone advise me on how to remove and replace the front sidelight on a Citroen C8.

Hi,
Has anyone changed the Radius arm bearings on a C5 lately? How much of a job is it please, how difficult & how long did it take please etc? Any special tools?

Hi All,
Just two quick questions please.

How do I remove the painted back of the door mirror to re-spray it?

Has anyone actually removed the seat covers to repair/wash? I have the ones with the alacantra which has not survived 17 years, if I can get the covers off I can insert new material but I'm concerned as to how the cover is fixed around...

Had a go at the door mirror cover this afternoon without much success. Managed to unclip two clips, another was already broken but couldn't get the others to move, in the process one of the ones I had succeeded with broke :x So had a look on the internet to see how much a new one would cost, just out of interest, and...

Need some advice....Before repair....my Xantia give a very soft ride front & rear it was nice to drive.
After repair & Change
1.Anti Roll bar Bush
2.Top & G.Box Mounting
3. Change LHM oil & clean filter
After the above was done the ride was not the same
After reading more on this forum...I Regas the accumulator sphere still same...
Front & Rear...

Kumar, did you disconnect the feed hose from the top of the hydraulic tank to the hydraulic pump when you cleaned the filter and replaced the LHM ?

If so its possible that you no longer have an air tight seal between the hose and the tank, which is allowing air bubbles to be drawn into the oil flowing into the hydraulic pump. This air can cause...

Just a quickie, got the old girl through another MOT, had to fit new front discs and pads. I knew they needed done.
Interestingly the brake efficiency again was low but a pass.

I must try and find out why :?:

Hello all its D-Day tomorrow i will be fitting a new rear height sensor to my c52.2hdi 2002 plate, if after ive fitted it it still wont go up,, its scrapyard time!! iv put 0.5 thru the system to try and bleed the rear but no go!! the front will raise perfect and if i force the back up with a jack with the front on full height the rear will raise...

I have a problem that I think is not unusual with C5s (HDi 2002)

AC working and fans working but most days I get HOT air blowing from the left hand vents and cold from the right (Control set to 18C both sides)

I think the problem is the Heater box has two motors that control the internal flaps and these drive plastic cogs; cogs which wear...

As Wayne said, glove box out and you can see the motor in question, one electrical connecter and 3 screws and you've changed it out. Any mechanic can do it pdq, revised motor was about £80 from memory.

Hi guys
As per usual, having climbed a big hill with the HDI the last few weeks, today a new problem surfaces to keep me on my toes and no doubt empty my wallet.
This morning I could hear a sort of whining noise which I first thought was the fan bearing gone. However, it seems to be related to engine speed and starts and stops a few seconds...

Has been a while since I lasted posted, the car has been going well, am still impressed with my £560 car 4 years later.

I replaced my pads today with some Delphi pads, which involved taking the calipers apart and winding the piston head back in. I have fitted...

My C5, Year 2007 has this problem of foggy windscreen. I never had such problem with my ex-cars of various brands. I’m wondering whether I’m not used to the way Citroen build its aircon system so I wanted to ask the experts here.

I agree with what Mandrake (Simon) says. It is a very good idea to make sure the glass is spotless inside and out, as any dirt is a condensation seed point. I also use Rain-X on the windscreen to help keep it clear when it is raining.

Just recently my gearshift has become very stiff,there is no problem engaging the gears and it engages all gears and runs fine.
Is there a problem with the gear linkages.

Dear guys,

on my Mk2 Xantia Break the roof vibrates in a specific RPM range. The roof is probably glued to a carrier leading between the B-columns and the bonding does not hold any more. When a rear passenger supports the roof, the vibrations are gone.

Is it a typical illness of Mk2 Xantias?
As the interior lining on the roof is glued as well,...

yesterday I was able to squeeze some 4 mm thin sponge sheet (5 x 10 cm) in between the transverse frame and the roof. To do that, I removed the rear-passenger handles and cautiously pulled away but not un-bonded the roof lining. Then I moved the sponges towards the middle of the roof by just a couple of centimeters. Hi all
Had front strut go replaced it and also got new drivers side drive shaft, gave my reg when ordering, anyway fitted it all and found out I had no gears, on checking the new drive shaft against the old one, it's was shorter, I was gutted as i gave reg and they said it fits, not sure what they sent but it's not for my 2000 X reg sx petrol....

Mike,

Use a large bladed screwdriver and gently lever it out. It's not the usual brittle plastic that's used all over the car. It may help slightly if you push down in the centre of the cover while working the screwdriver blade around the edge.

If you have strong finger nails you don't even need a screwdriver :)

Anyone know if those stud extractor thingys are any good? I've got 4 broken bolts now :(

My experience with these extractor things is that unless they are extremely expensive items, they're s**t, and your better off with a set of decent drill bits to drill them almost out then the outer bit usually collapses...

You only need to kill psaagent.exe if you're trying to install Sedre/Docbackup and you already have Diagbox/Lexia installed - in which case you kill the process from task manager just before launching the docbackup/sedre installer.

Sorry, me again. MOT on my S1 Xantia hatchback is next week, so thought it was sensible to do a quick bulb test. All good - apart from the fact that the rear fog light switch isn't switching the rear fog light on - its putting the reverse lights on instead. Which explains why putting the car in reverse was putting the fog lamp warning light on the...

I wouldnt of looked at any of that.. I would of looked at the wiring between the hatch and the roof for broken wires and cross touching.. pop the grommet out of its fixing and try sliding it up and check the wires on the drivers side of the hatch by the hinge.. my guess there is wire insulation broken away and they are touching..

I had a frontal collision with my 1999 Xantia. I need new bumpers, bonnet, grill, fans and maybe radiator.

These parts are rarer to find here from the new design xantias. Can i replace all these parts from a mark 1 xantia more easily and cheaply availble from the scrapyard?

It'll fit fine. You must use the slam panel though as the front end is of different design.

Thought some of you guys may like to see these pics I took. We have just had a 1.6HDI in with a low oil pressure warning on the dash.
The car has had a turbo fitted recently, but the garage didn't remove the sump. Fortunately they did remove the turbo feed pipe strainer, otherwise we would be looking at another new turbo as well. It is remarkable...

After pressing out the recess around the plug, I can now fill 4litres instead of around 3,75.

I also overfill the engine 0,1-0,2L without any problem so far. I've heard there is a replacement oil dipstick with higher marks. Do anyone know more about that?

Hi,

2002 Picasso. Randomly, the left rear wheel's brake doesn't release after braking.

It has drum brakes on the rear. To get it to release, it is necessary to pull over and open the bleed nipple briefly to relieve the pressure.

As it has ABS, there is no load compensator valve for the rear brakes.

Replaced (to no avail):

- ABS unit.
- Drum...

oh yeah when i did it i filed down the two ridges on the bulb holder that orientate the hole it slides into, it is now much easier to put them in and pull them out when needed.
