Retro Fit electric seats in a C5

Unread post by Xantic »

I am looking for a manual C5 diesel but want electric leather if possible seats.

Would the wiring be there for them
If not is it an easy task
Would it have to be hooked up to a lexia after fitting etc.

Of course buying the car with them fitted would be the best but as we all know finding one yet alone a good one is the hardest part.

Any info would be great
Thanks

I bought a full leather electric seating set for mine ('03) and it was a doddle to fit, all connections present.
The only thing I needed to do was fit a Maxi-fuse to the under bonnet fusebox - I think all the 30A fuses in the 'b' or 'c' box were present.
Also had to get Mr Steve Trainman to tell the system that the CD changer (under the driver's seat) was present before it would work.
Other than that it was deadly simple - biggest job was cleaning it all prior to fitting, covered in mud and dog hair - from a farm vehicle.
Still, it was very cheap - £120 from an eBay seller in Ware - very decent chap.
Everything works and works well.

Is there the dreaded DPF or dual mass flywheel on the 2.0 hdi

No DPF on either of mine - 2005 were the first ones IIRC - the 'facelift' model.
I do have the DMF - had one replaced on the estate - a misdiagnosis as it happened but was pretty well on it's way though.

I couldn't say if the current one has been done - no service history whatsoever but it is on >216,000 miles and seems fine, not treated with any kind of respect either.
I only bought the leather seats as my driver's seat fell to pieces and the whole interior was a better buy than a single seat.

I fitted electric leather seats in my Mk1 C5 and it was as previously stated a fairly simple affair, all the connectors are under the carpet. You do though have to fit the aforementioned maxi fuse, its on the underside of the engine compartment fuse box so you may have to disconnect a few bits to get to it.

I have now bought a 54 plate 2.0 hid manual exclusive. Have not collected it yet as I am now on my way to Hull in the truck. When i get it home I will update on the purchase etc. If it is ok then happy days if not I got leather seats . I will explain more in detail later on a new post.
