2011 Citroen C5 Exclusive Electronic Parking Brake

Unread post by wcroghan »

Three days after its MOT the EPB on my C5 started playing up, auto handbrake and hill start both failing. Diagnostics came up with a permanent fault on the EPB cables. Attempting to re-tension/calibrate failed. I've removed the unit from the car and have been looking for a used replacement given the ridiculous amount Citroen want for a new one, £902 +VAT.

What I need to know is if the EPB module off an earlier year, 2009 in this case will fit.

The one I've removed has on the label...

PSA 9674099780
HW F08/4 SW F08/4
10.2202-0128.4

The 2009 one...

PSA 9687473180
HW F08 SW F08
10.2202-0115.4

Although older, will it work? Anyone?

Cheers

Wayne.

What's your VIN? I'll see of there was a replacement part. There may be different software contained in the EPB ECU, so it might mean that the car's BSI software might need an update.

Wayne, there was a replacement part for 4702 10 (earlier X7s) to part 4702 14. Your car has 4702 14 listed as the original part without any replacement part, so must of been changed sometime after 2009. So they are compatible.

It does note that the parking brake cables and the unlock cable cannot be separated from the electronically controlled parking brake unit (FSE) though. If you need the removal / fitting procedure let me know.

So I'm safe to buy the one off the 2009 car and fit it to my 2011 one. I've got the procedure for removing/re-fitting, I've already removed the one from my 2011 car, I just need the replacement now.

Cheers

I have the 2009 X7 and the 4702 10 is my part, with the replacement part shown as 4702 14, so that's what I would be getting if I had to replace it. Once they do this, they no longer list the older part - as in your case as it was fitted as standard.

I can't tell you what the modifications were - but it might be worth a call to Citroen to see if there are any backward compatible issues - I know I've had a BSI update for another issue - but not all BSIs should be upgraded for the sake of it. So what I'm saying is that being a 2011 model, you may have a different BSI software level and it wouldn't hurt to check Wayne.
