Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Since the new Database Server has been in operation, I've noticed a few short-duration outages on the ADSL link between the Web Server and the Database Server.

I apologise for the inconvenience this is causing and I'm investigating. At the moment I'm not sure if the modem or my ISP is at fault. Shortly, I'll be replacing the modem as a precaution...

I'm after some info on PSA diesel engines.
I know/played with the 1.9TD's but not the others.

So 1.9TD, 2.1TD, 2.5TD. What would you say is the best engine?
Are they a similar size (physically)
What sort of power/tourqe does each make?
What is each like to tune? (I know the 1.9TD can be played with,...

I've been trying to find a site that described the hydraulic drivetrain that Citroen were about to produce but have so far drawn a blank.

I've just had my car fail it's MOT this year due to a couple of holes in the sills, thankfully fairly small and easy to weld. When I took it to the garage to get the welds done I noticed a section of exhaust just before the silencer is missing, about the length of a bean tin.

They guy didn't pick this up on the MOT, is he likely to have only done...

I'm so impressed with this diesel engine that I want to identify which cars are powered by the same lump. I'm thinking something a little lighter and smaller, preferably with hydraulic suspension and similar comfort levels like A/C.

I cant find the supplier link i got the other day for a biodiesel stockist, who delivered nationally for free in large 250 litre drums
It worked out about 74p a litre, a friend at works interested in my new bio ways and wants some for his 206 hdi

Can anyone think who it may be?

The dash doesn't look right for a Xantia so it may all be trickery using
Photoshop although I can't really see why anyone would go to the bother

chaps, what can cause an internal carb fire ? mine has a melted float, and worse, melted areas around the jets... it's a V8 4-barrel single carb...

the only ignition is the plugs... I guess arcing at the distributor cap, or between leads in the most likely.. (in which case this problem would be prevalent on all older cars with carbs?)

A seller tells me they have an N reg xantia 1.9TD with a split hydraulic hose to which I queried and they replied nor sure where the hose starts or ends but it runs along the front of the engine/behind the rad Helpful eh? I also asked what symptoms it causes but that question appears to have been overlooked as was the one about the fuel pump make...

That hose Mike, could be the main feed from the pump to the pressure regulator, one of the Power Steering ram lines or the feed from the LHM reservior to the pump. All of these are vaugely in that area. If it were a VSX or Exclusive, you'd also have the Hydractive centre sphere piping there too..

Could be simple or difficult.

Does anyone know if -- how -- I can replace my C drive without reformatting my existing one?

Basically I need a bigger-faster drive as my C Drive, the one I have is old, slow, and 76% full.. It is a 20 gig.. But only runs at 25 (whatever) compared to speeds of D = 52 G = 55 (info obtained from running PC-Pitstop) but as it's the main drive it...

Still got my 406,all seems well since Dec when i had fuel problems.Just replaced rear disks,pads & handbrake shoes yesterday.What job :x took 5 hrs in the end,every thing rusted like hell,siezed solid.Still done now & much better.

On the way home I noticed the Activa was doing a bit of height correction, but as I had pulled up at the traffic lights, and the footbrake was being held down the correction did not take place.

Now, having experienced this before I knew it was probably going to do a small correction upwards.

So I held the brake on until the lights were about to...

hi all..

I was wondering whether I could remove any emmision components from this engine.. based partially on the fact that some of us on FCF remove EGR valves and so on..

I realise there is a moral issue to ponder... but I have definately heard of these controls strangling engines, when our emission laws are less stringent than either 49...

That's all the mods finally finished = all the bits I got from a scrapped Volcane and fitted into my Grey Avantage, (that in turn, got hit by a careless driver and wrecked last year :x ) have been swopped into my new Blue ZX Aura. Complete with a working radio and foglights as well now.. :) :D

The interior is the same now as my old grey one....

The Honda's bad enough. Only does 18 mpg ish on short local runs, but manages 32 mpg ish when running around doing long runs on holiday.

I recently bought a Garmin wide-screen Nuvi 200 sat-nav.. And it does what it sez on the tin. :D

Easy to use, clear voice info, sharp maps, and large, easy to see/understand onscreen icons to touch as required..

It has several usefull options, the one I like is, no matter where you are, you can look up local info such as, nearest garage,...

One tip, wipe away any rings left on the screen by the sucker. If low-lives see these rings they will know you have a satnav and break in to your car on the off-chance youve stashed it out of sight somewhere in the car.

Thats exactly why I run mine on a pda, I bought the one that wedges into the dashboard in front of the speedo perfectly to...

I need a car radio for my 1994 ZX Aura, but -- I don't know much about them :oops: So your advice would be much appreciated.. :D

I only need the traffic news fingy, (RDS?) anything else is a bonus - extra . :lol: I don't need blue teeth, ipods, blah blah.. :?

It would be nice to have some means of playing CD-mp3 music.. But NOT essential....

I normally either fill up my Xantia 2.1TD (220,000 miles) with Tesco (cheapest near home) or Shell (cheapest near work) diesel and never think any more of it. However, filled up with Shell, normal stuff at 105.9 per ltr last Monday and since then I’ve noticed the car seems to be running much better for no apparent reason.

Since Fcf came back online it has been really hard to use.

Chaps, i have a problem with a car I am trying to fix :(

its not French, but does begin with 'F' :evil: 1.8 Petrol, rail injection

It has sparks (2 brighter then than other two, a plug issue as i have tried swapping the leads),

fuel to/from the injection rail,

I've just tried to edit my signature to change the mileage from 100k to 110k. I'm told I can't because my signature is too long. The signature length is unchanged so does this mean I need to change to a lower mileage car?

I took my car to an exhaust fitter to fit the downpipe gasket kit as I've been told it's not a worthwhile DIY job without a ramp. Cost me £25 and the car was there just over 30 minutes. Poor guy's arms were covered in veg oil from hands to shoulders (for which I apologised) with a scorch mark on his inner elbow. He complained about his chubby arms...

It was indeed - genuine Citroen gasket kit. Whether chubby-chappy managed to fit all the cups, washers, gaskets, springs, bolts and nuts in the right order I cannot tell, but it sounds and feels good to me and I kept the receipt. 8)

I've recently inherited a PSI Powerbox, it was originally fitted to my fathers Xantia HDI (it came with his car on purchase). I've fitted it to my Xsara HDI.
