Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Just casting my my mind around the various films in which I've see French-built cars. Comes to mind:

2 CV in Pink Panther with old Peter Sellers

Then only vaguely are the cars in the Day of the Jackal, but there have to be some in Manon des Source, Les Regles du Jeu (sp?), but I don't recall any in The Duellists.

To send a Xantia radio, which is just a bit too large to be a Royal Mail 'small' parcel, the cheapest my local Post Office (very obliging) could do it for was £8 :shock: second class parcel post.

I decided to start a new thread for this post on the OTCL as I think it may get more contributions than a personal blog in the members area!!
Today I ran out of excuses to avoid the last job on my to do list (There will be another soon no doubt as they are entered by SWMBO :-D ) and had to knuckle down and get on with it. 'Rotting shed floorboards...

I went down to Elstree yesterday to start refurbishing the decking. Having got the deck cleared and then cleaned with cleaner and the power washer I ran out of time to put on the preservative so I have just been down to do that before the rain comes later!! This one picture shows the three stages of the job!! :-D

The FCF used to liken itself to the friendly atmosphere of a good pub, and there's none better than The Pickled Egg which appears once a month in a Magazine called Cheers which is distributed free in North-East Pubs. Its the work of Cluff (John Longstaff) and consistently makes me chuckle.

With identikit car design de rigueur the only unleashing of creativity appears to be in the design and appearance of lighting. Yes, and there are probably many which fall into the category...awful.

My encounter today with a Toyota Prius seemed to reach the ultimate of the current crop of rear lighting with this.....

When Mike (xantia_V6) was in the UK last year, and we met at a car show, we came up with a plan for Jim and I, and possibly Bob, to visit Mike in France and go round some museums and then go on to Hamburg, via my daughter's...

Have a good trip and don't let the emissions police get you! I think that they mostly use cameras and plate recognition, so a UK plate won't mean much to the computers.

Maybe you can make it to France next year.

I certainly hope so Mike, the way things have turned out I am having two trips to my daughter's within 4 weeks. I will be repeating...

Just called in to see what is happening in here. Still going in my '01 Xsara. Mustn't be many of us left on the road at this stage. Just hit 215k. Engine still going strong, but the body is a different story.

Sills are continually a headache at MOT time and rear arches are bubbling rust too. Looks like the end is nigh for it if it needs major...

I'd avoid the Audi - money pits. The 508 has more or less what most PSA vehicles have now equipment wise and coming from a Xsara will take some time to get used to, but the 1.5 diesel is very nice. I have one but a little less power and it's very economical and nippy.

Depending on where you are, try and find a similar one near on a forecourt near...

Yesterdays POTD on Geograph was The former Rootes Group Garage Mill Lane Maidstone Kent. Its listed so thankfully as far as I know hasn't been turned into flats.
