Classic for under £10K

Unread post by NewcastleFalcon »

Is it possible to get a nice tax-exempt historic vehicle (pre 1st January 1974 if my googling is up to scratch) for under £10,000?

Hopefully not a box of bits or a barn-find wreck but something which starts and goes and has an M.O.T. :)

Bearing in mind the fact that i spotted one of these today,

the Rover P5 may be an example (£8,450 as of today)

Can you find some other interesting examples under £10,000 and pre 1974? Could even be French is you like,

Regards Neil

Pre facelift Silver Shadow would be my pick. Ideally a '67 with hydraulic front struts.

Another advantage of the Traction Avant above would be that cars or motorbikes built before 1960 are also M.O.T. exempt.

Oops sorry - just noticed that that one is not tax exempt - but it will be next year or so.

Well, I for one am quite happy to see the "tax-exempt" pedantic condition blown out the water to get nice examples of affordable classics like this in the thread :)

very nice!

Friend of mine who is a good e-bay watcher for interesting stuff has just sent me this, North Shields as well!

Doesn't quite meet the full specification for the thread being 10 years away from Tax exempt status in the UK, but its well under the £10k, its French, its not grey and dare I say it an interesting head-turner if nothing else.

If you fancy a trip to Naples, this is on offer for £8,000

Image

Interesting turn of phrase in the advert
Officine Criscuolo, collectors and dealers of antique cars for over 50 years, are waiting for you at the structure of Agnano (NA) to let you touch their business reality, made up of: passion, competence and professionalism.

In addition:
Each customer will be able to come to Naples, flight plane or train, our staff will accompany you at our headquarters
Each car will be tested in the presence of our specialists so that you can see the actual condition.
The transfer of ownership will take place directly on site
If you have the confidence to do a deal in Naples, looks like a a very nice car for the money!

I'd be really keen on a Volvo Amazon. Lots of choice with 10k, could be very fussy.

Where to look? There's the usual suspects of e-bay and gumtree but also

carandclassic.co.uk like the red Volvo above

I also like to have a paddle around Leboncoin

Any other useful sites for searching for an interesting affordable classic?

just to keep it visual here's one from the Leboncoin search between 4500 and 12000 euros, for 1974 and before vehicles-there's hundreds on the list

Listed at 7500 euros
