Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

Disruption to Parts Service

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

For a few weeks I’ve been hearing what sounds like a loose belt and a squealing cam belt tensioner. However I only determined this really was the case when yesterday my car wouldn't start because the cam belt was skipping. But what I need to determine is, are any of the valves bent. As I’ve already said the engine has been running with a loose...

intermittent power loss - 106 1.5d

by rotodiesel » 29 Jul 2004, 03:22

Start by draining the fuel filter housing with the tap on the bottom. This is easier if you remove the air cleaner box. To drain properly, you need to open the bleed screw on the housing above the filter. Close bleed screw and vent fuel filter by squeezing the primer bulb repeatedly.
If this cures the problem, replace the fuel filter using an OE...

Any hints as to what might be happening?

97 306 D'Turbo Intercooler / Inlet manifold seal

you may have to go back there unfortunatly, or a citroen dealer, the seal should only be a couple of quid but at least you can fit it yourself.
they start small when new but swell up when it gets oil on it.

Hi All,
The seal between the intercooler and the inlet manifold has grown on my engine. This came to light after someone changed my glow plugs and fitted the enlarged seal back incorrectly. This lead to loss of boost and a bit of oil spraying out!
As a temporary fix I have cut a section out of the seal, added wsome grease and it now fits again....

Can you test if the HT current is getting to the distributor?
eg can you take the lead out from coil to cap and rest on engine. Then turn over engine & ask assistant to look for spark. Don't let them hold it!
If sparking then the problem may be your cap, rotor arm, spring loaded contact (cap to arm), or points.
My info may be a bit dated however!...

106 Timing Belt

Blocked heater matrix?

by RichardW » 16 Jul 2004, 17:24

First post

There is no way you will unblock it. Steamed up windows may indicate the presence of water in the car, and this may well be coming from the matrix - failure is not exactly unknown! Check the passenger side carpet for dampness.
Even if you think it is blocked, the best bet is probably to change it - they're cheap. Pity you have to take the dash out...

Hi,
I own a post Irish(all the required bits swapped over to British standards via DVLA by previous owner) '94 Peugeot 306 XNd, 3 door with PAS and 102k+ on the clock, when bought used in 2002. Its currently on 145K and running smoothly as ever.
I didn't get a car handbook with it. Therefore a list of problems which i'm trying to indentify are...

205 rear wheel bearings

by silverline » 13 Jul 2004, 18:17

First post

you made need access to a press to get the bearings out of the drum as they probably get corroded in.

Last post

Anyone replaced a rear wheel bearing on a 205? Is it straightforward or do you need special tools to remove/replace the bearing in the drum?
Any advice gratefully received as pug want £141 for a new drum/bearing assembly and GSF can supply the drum and bearing separately for £50.
Cheers,
Antony

1.9 GTi alloys on a XS

by macaroni » 14 Jul 2004, 03:28

First post

I have fitted 14 alloys to my xs with no problem. As far as I know there are no problems with 15 wheels as long as the car isn't lowered. People more expert than I recommend against 15 wheels for performance reasons though.

Last post

I,ve got a 90' 205 XS, i want to fit 1.9 GTi alloys, which are 15'' in size, i have heard of problems with rubbing after fitting these, does anyone know a way round this, or is it an not a problem. Has anypne experienced problems with other 15'' rims??

406 parking door mirrors

by jet_andy » 10 Jul 2004, 23:41

406 SE coupe - mirros same as saloon though I think.
When I switch to park the mirrors, the drivers side does not seem to have any stops, it just comes in until it pushes up against the drivers window. It is then forced to stop, and if I listen carefully I can here the current trip cut out. The same happens when it goes back out, it groans a bit...

Pug 405 GLX 1.8 - Engine cutting out

by fastandfurryous » 12 Jul 2004, 20:55

First post

more information is needed:
Is it carb or fuel injection? does it have a distributor or is it fully programmed electronic ignition?
I'm assuming the idle is actually 750 to 1200 (!)
does the engine still have full power when driving? have you checked for the obvious things such as fouled/overly wide plug gaps
does it splutter and then die, or just...

Can anyone offer me any advice.
Got a Pug 405 GLX 1.8. All of a sudden yesterday the engine cut out whils idling at traffic lights. It restarted fine but cuts out every time I slow down. I've had no problems starting it but if I even dab the accelerator and let go the engine stops.
Iding is sporadic, between 7500 and 12000 revs at best and the...

Try the factory default code of 1111 because most people dont bother changing it, or if they do the next favourite to try is 1234
What keypad do you have? A D/N button or an S button?
You can remove the stop valve on the pump, When you can get to it!
Spend some time & try & get hold of the code FIRST, Or look on the internet, there are people who...

Ignition timing on a 205xs

by rossd » 07 Jul 2004, 13:32

First post

You are advancing it if its running at 12 - 14 degrees!!
Did the prblem start when you fitted the new components? One or more could be faulty, in particular check the dizzy cap and arm, somme pattern parts for the TU engine are shockingly bad, my 205 is testament to this!
NExt check for any airleaks, eg the vac advance line from the back of the...

Last post

If I set the timing on my 1989 205xs to 8 degrees before TDC as recommended, it runs like a dog. To get it to tick over at all nicely, I have to retard it way back to 12 or 14 deg. What could be wrong?
I have fitted new plugs, rotor arm, dizzy cap and ignition module.
Thanks in advance.

Help - I've rekon I've got alignment problems after replacing the front suspension arms on my 205 diesel.
To replace the arms, I had to slacken off the clamps holding the anti-roll bar.
Now after it's all back together, my nearside front tyre is scrubbing on its outer edge.
My girlfriend took the car to get the tracking done - apparently this...

These claim to have all wiring diagrams / harness id's etc for all peugeot models. I bought one, haven't got it yet - but will let you know how useful it is...

I have a 2000 W plate 306 meridian, the whole heater blower demister and air con unit has stopped working. No heat, no cold, no blowing at all!
We know that there are no leaks, and that the gas doesn’t need refilling. Also the circuit board (that Peugeot reckoned it was) has been checked by someone who actually works with circuit boards, and its...

306 twin headlight problems

You can those little trim sections from the scrap yard, or goto the main dealer & ask how much they are, you might find they are cheap enough to get new.

Does your keypad have a D/N button or a S button.
I have the instructions for both keypads & would email them to you, but if the keypad has been bypassed ( Unplugged ) you might need help getting it working again.
