405,1.9 GRI AUTO ENGINE PINKING

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY MY 405 SHOULD SUDDENLY START PINKING ON LIGHT THROTTLE? EMISSIONS FOR MOT ARE SPOT ON, PLUGS ARE RIGHT COLOUR, WHERE THE HELL IS THE ANTI-KNOCK SENSOR 'COS THE PUG GARAGE DON'T KNOW. DON'T BOTHER SUGGESTING I BACK OFF THE TIMING 'COS THERE AIN'T NO DIZZY. EXPERIENCED SUGGESTIONS PLEASE, TA.

A faulty knock sensor should have triggered the fault light on the dash & a Pug garage SHOULD know where the sensor is,
Its screwed into the block, Down the front, aboult half way down, in the middle, You cant really miss it.

ITS A BIT CRAMPED UNDER THE FI MANIFOLD BUT I'LL HAVE A DIG ROUND.O/MANUAL SUGGESTS ITS ON THE BACK WHICH IS WHY I'M STRUGGLING.

I never knew the 1.9 8 valve had a knock sensor fitted to it myself.
what year is the pug then?
