Blocked heater matrix?

Post by batwad »

Right, I've had enough of misty windows on these ridiculously damp summer mornings, so it's time to find out why my heater isn't heating. I'm guessing the heater matrix is blocked, but I've got no problems with overheating in general. I think the flap mechanism is working alright because I can hear a change in the air coming through the vents and feel a change in the power when I switch from cold to hot.
So, any tips on how to unblock it, particularly how to get to the awkwardly placed connector on a 94 TD 306?

There is no way you will unblock it. Steamed up windows may indicate the presence of water in the car, and this may well be coming from the matrix - failure is not exactly unknown! Check the passenger side carpet for dampness.
Even if you think it is blocked, the best bet is probably to change it - they're cheap. Pity you have to take the dash out to get to it.....[:o)]

Is there any chance the stat is not working and stuck open causing underheating?
Or is there an airlock?
Just want you to check before the spanners get thrown about!
