Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I have a 2007 1.4 207 that has just started to hunt and misfire intermittently when warm, the car runs fine when cold but after about 15 minutes the misfire randomly appears. I have changed the spark plugs and I have also changed the lambda sensor as this was given as a possible cause.

Any ideas?

When you bump start its turning the engine over much faster so you don't lose as much compression heat. If it starts that easily I would do as you say and check that you actually have voltage on the glow plugs. You will need a fairly thick wire as the plugs draw 60-80 amps.

It has an injection pump so no pressure sensor.

Built in systems interface - permanent fault. Input + ACC short circuit to earth.

Posted this in the Peugeotforum, but haven't had any success yet.

Car is a 2004 307cc (van).

Replaced discs and pads all round, and checked over all sliders on the callipers.
Had to remove a couple of callipers to do the job right, and the fluid emptied.

Wasn't that worried about bleeding the ABS unit as i have just bought Lexia 3 kit from easy...

Hello the wipers have stopped working on my 306 hdi. I swapped the spare motor and spare relays I had to test and nothing.

So the wiper stalk must be at fault are they all the same wiper stalks even with different code numbers?

I'm not sure what the part number is on mine either.

My girlfriend has a 2002 Peugeot 206 2ltr HDI 90bhp.

While driving it last night a clonk suddenly developed when turning the steering wheel. No loud clonk to start off with and not gradually either.
Doesn't relate to particular places on the steering wheel
Occurs while stationary and moving
Occurs whether the engine is running or not

Someone tooted me yesterday and said that I had no brake lights on my '98 xud 306 estate - no abs.

Bulbs are OK so am suspecting the switch. According to Haynes I have to dismantle the facia to get at it. Is this the most likely cause, and is it an easy fix?

Well done. :)

Although you might think omg it has taken me six hours , that is *nothing* compared to removing and refitting the fascia... So you have saved time.

Mind you its recommended to remove the dash complete for a 405 heater matrix (and most people do) , its only recently that I've learned that you can sometimes get away without doing...

Being a Peugeot 307 newbie I have no idea what noises are normal or what is supposed to feel normal. It's a 57 plate 307 1.6 16v petrol S with FPSH and only 57k on the clock. I'm only just getting used to the characteristics of my 208.

2 things stand out with my 307. 1. When I'm cruising at 50-70mph I get a high pitched whistle... Christ knows...

I have a 407 1.6 hdi , i bought it with big end knocking and blown turbo (spares repair) , since then i've taken rocker/cam carrier off and cleaned the engine out replaced big end bearings ,turbo cartridge and injector seals

first it took a while to start , which i expected
it now idles rough, quite a bit of white fumes coming from exhaust ,...

Sounds OK Malc - the real risk is you get it overbraked, such that when it's unloaded the rear locks up and comes round to meet the front if you brake downhill (or rolls it over!). Less of a worry if it's got ABS :)

My PP2000 scanner says that there is no CAN communication to the power steering controller. I recently drove 3900 kilometers over pretty bad roads through Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil, at over 120 km/h. Would it be possible that the vibration has messed up the wiring harness or the power steering electronics? Would a blown fuse trigger that...

Check the main earth onto the gearbox casing, they are bad for rotting right at the eyelet, the cable can appear fine but when you give them a light tug they just crumble & break off. I I remember right it goes from the battery negative to the gearbox then from the gearbox to the body, the way it breaks leaves the actual gearbox lead in tact but...

Does anybody know the oe pugcit part number for the lucas fuel pump throttle shaft overhaul kit? I think there are 2 variants, one is just 2 orings and a gasket for the pump lid, and one is a whole new pump lid with shafts and everything.

My daughter's boyfriend has damaged the chrome trim that goes round the front grille ( the bit that looks like a large chrome smile). He has been quoted £230 to get a new one fitted as it has to be melted onto the bumper. Does anyone know if this is correct or is it held in place with trim clips?

I`ve replaced matrix`s on almost every Peugeot but surprisingly never done a 206.
This is a 1.1 TU 2003,what sort of job is it? anything to watch out for? Looks straight forward to me.

Actually (although slightly off topic) I only recently learned its possible to do a later 405 *without* taking the dash out, hmm.

BOL does not make any difficult noises about a 206. My thought was one with AC would need that evac'ing but it appears not as the heater box can stay still. Dash needs to come...

Does anyone know the correct coolant capacity for a 2005 Peugeot 206 1.1 sport. It's the HFX TU1JP but I'm getting conflicting results from entering the reg on various parts sites. According to autodata it's 5.5lts for the HFX and 7lts for the HFY & HFZ so thought I'd check. I've just done the headgasket (oil leak) and given the rad & heater...

Grrr, why is it that EVERYTHING with oldschool Peugeots have to be difficult?

So my buddy got a 205 with a 16v motor. Everything else is standard 205, just the motor has been swapped out.

It needs a new speedo cable cause at 35 the arrow is bouncing around between 40 and 30.

There seems to be NO speedo cables avaliable for these. I even asked a...

That's that 'questionable' listing, because as you can see, in the compatibility table it lists as fitting every 205 ever. Which is of course completely impossible, right, cause there are several variants of the 205 using different cables. If you look at the listing tho, it says its 890mm long, which is the 'shorter' style, 6123 C4.

Hi,

I recently bought a 2006 407 2.0HDI and I am working through its issues.
I finaly managed to get pp2000 running and that led me to the fault of a open circuit at the fuel cap sensor. Today I replaced that one but when I tried to clear the fault it just comes back instantly.
Any suggestions on what I should do next?

I have put my fingers and felt all the way around the spring and its all in one piece. I jacked the car up to do this. So the spring has not snapped so it must be the shock?

When I stop harsh the front end of the car passenger side goes up and down but driver side stays solid?

After trying to install a virtual WinXP to run it with on my current laptop I bought a old one for £20 with a clean XP installation.

I found the fault is within the OBD2 plug. the pins appear to be too thin , they don't establish a proper connection.
Found it out by chance , during the global test of pp2000 it kept asking to connect, as soon as I wriggled the plug about it connected .
I started to bend the pins inside to get a proper connection . It is better...

two separate problems on this wagon

it sometimes will not start, i plugged my DIS-LEXIA/PLANET up it and it comes up with fault code U1600, do i just run it through the key reprogram section,

the other thing is the gear selector is very very tight, question is can the cables be rejuvenated/freed off

Hello to all.

went to diy store, parked up 406.

Wouldn't start when we came out and we got a friend to trailer it home.

We checked all fuses under the dash and in the BSI. We disconnected the fuel pipes to the diesel filter, no fuel.

Disconnected the block to the pump in the tank - 12 volts when ignition first turned on - dropping to 2.9...

I remember the 504 (or 505?) where they tachy lived on the steering column. straight down the middle (the three wires) to bypass, not safe though but an emergency get you home thing (with care)

That's roughly where it was on the 205 Andy and the same applied for getting you home!!!

Found it, it was the roll bar bushes :oops: I couldn't get them to move with a crow bar, but I noticed I could replicate the clonk by pushing the car side to side, so I had someone do that while I was under the car. I could see immediately that the roll bar had excessive movement. I'd replaced these already 55,000 miles ago with pattern parts, so...

So the car is a 14 plate 308 1.6hdi. It was bought 1 week ago on 4k and has broken down 3 times with dpf fault. I noticed when it was shown to me that the coolant, which is blue stuff, is very grey. Like old abused car grey. The cars gone back to Peugeot who say the dpf only is regenerating 75% causing the problems and have manually cleaned it....

Hi
The high pressure fuel pump on my 2005 2.0 hdi expert is leaking, leading to cut out.I told the local garage who refused to work on it saying the fuel pump will need timing, i've since found out it won't.
Two questions, can it be removed without the cam belt being changed? and if i only replace the fuel pump with a like for like part will that...

Need some advice please, 407 fuel tank held by two straps and bolts, had to drop the tank to change the rear ABS sensors that part went well my problem now is on fitting the tank back into place one of the bolt holes did not line up exactly resulting in me fast running out of day light to force the bolt and of course cross threaded it. it might be possible, what you might find is the nut it spot welded into the box section/body, so if/when you try tapping it out it might rip off its spot welds, as these are usually only lightly spotted into place

with thanks for help on previous posts, anyone give me a bit of guidance re Alternator top mount on a 1527cc TUD in a Mk2 Pug 106 'R' plate.

The BoL tells me to prize out the cover shield fastener to allow the cover to be lifted slightly to improve access to the upper bolt and gives me two illustrations, neither of which are very helpful

I agree,that TU engine has to be the easiest cambelt change in the motor trade.Mind you if your a DIY with limited knowledge (no offense) ,one false move and you have bent valves??
The fact its a simple job a small Peugeot/Citroen indi` should only charge about 2hrs labour.?? and supply an O/E kit including a water pump.

It feels like it is coming from the drivers side and I suspect this is the drivers side cv joint. It's unlikely to be inner joint - this hardly moves on lock, more flex is taken up here as the suspension rises and falls. If you jack it up and rotate the wheel on lock you may well hear / see the joint complaining. Recently did one on my 307 for the same reason - had a bit of difficulty getting the joint back on.... do the windows mist up, if so it could be the heater matrix has leaked into the heater box and the fan it moving it about,

as an aside it pays to switch all/any high current draw items off before switching the ignition on or off,
as this i believe is the main cause of the ignition switch contacts burning out

Ok the garage says the resistor has failed. Ordinarily a simple job and I've replaced several on my old fraud mundeo over the years but because this car has aircon it is part of the motor so both items have to be replaced as one complete unit. They have quoted £168 including VAT to do the job. Does this sound about right?

I have an issue with my 405 2.0 GTX Auto cruise control which I don't know if anyone can help me with (cruise is very important as I get a lot of back and leg trouble).

The indicator light on the switch in the centre console now goes out as soon as it comes on, and with this light inoperative the stalk activator will of course not...

I know on previous visits to the factors I've noticed head gasket 'pour it in and we guarantee it'll do the trick' type applications available, the one I have in mind comes in a yellow / green dayglo colour bottle (couldn't tell you what its called)

Car : 53 307 2.0 Petrol

So my car started to run erratic on idle for some time now but was not noticed in accelleration, until now.

The car feels like it is jerking with power on/off all the way through the powerband.

The engine is making a loud tappet noise , oil and coolant levels are good and run OBDII test highlighted no error codes but...

Does the 406 V6 suffer the same gearbox maladies as the Xantia V6 can? I know they're the same engine and box, but I believe from tireless research done by Simon and KP, among others that it's oil cooler issues that is the big worry. I imagine it gets full of external crud and stops cooling so well? Is the cooler in a similar place on the 406 and...

We have a Peugeot 206 which got a little damp !!! and we have started to work on it.

Its a 1.4 hdi.

We bought a scrapped 1.4 hdi and used the BSI , key , ignition and ECU and are getting various items to come back to life.

However, the car has now adopted the Kilometres of the crashed...
