I am in the process of replacing the starter motor on a 207 1.6 HDI thus far I have located two 6mm M8 allen bolts almost accessible from underneath, I think there are three, has anyone done this job and lived to tell the tale, any pointers?

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!

I tried 3 times on my 307, but scrapped the car before I managed it!

There are 3 bolts - one is obvious from underneath. One is fitted from gearbox side and requires removal of the battery and support tray (which has a bolt fitted from inside the wheel arch) even then you can't see it, but it's gettable with a wobble bar. It's hex headed I think. The third is over the top of the starter and totally invisible. You can feed in an Allen bit over the top of the starter body, and get a ratchet on the end of your extensions are the right length. It was this one I never managed to get out...

Info here from when I was trying on the 307. The access from the top may be different for the 207, but the starter itself should be the same. It might be easier to remove the OS drive shaft....

Oh, and if you need a starter, I've still got the BNIB one here that I never fitted. It wasn't the cheapest, but nor was it really expensive, but it's doing a good impression of a paperweight here! PM me if interested....
