The thick pipe is the input, so low pressure. If you can get the surfaces clean and dry with a suitable degreaser,then you have a good chance of effecting a durable repair. You may even get away with a silicone rubber compound, which will have some elasticity

I owned a 91 BX 17TD for just under a year, and have owned 3 ZX TD's.
Lets start with a few facts and figures. The XUD7TE 1769cc engine in the BX produced 90 BHP, whereas the XUD9TE is 1905cc in the ZX and produces 92BHP. So not a lot between them. The 1.9 version produces more torque but I do not have the exact figures to hand.

Sony make a 6 cd unit that is connected via an adapter to factory fitted car stereos. It available via Argos & you can ring 01384 286 160 to check compatibility. I think the unit is a cdx-t69.

Steam from vents is usually symptomatic of a leaking heater matrix. I had the same problem with my Peugeot 405 some time ago.
Is one of the lights for low coolant? This would be logical if you are losing coolant through the heater matrix. The 405 lost quite a lot.

From what you are saying, it sounds like the bottom of the rad may be silted up. The whole of the rad should get hot due to the fact that hot water would enter from the thermostat end at the top, and exit through the bottom hose to the water pump at the bottom.

What year is it and is it a keypad version.
Whats the mileage.
How long have you had it and was this problem there to begin with or has it developed and if so over what period of time.

they only have drain tubes at the front,drop the headcloth at the front corners and you should see them.check for possibility of water coming in through heater blower motor (drivers side underneath dash). you have to remove the scuttle panel & wiper linkages,remove the leaf gaurd at the blower intake,seal up half way with silicon or something...

AX Water Leak

I have got a water leak on my 1990 AX which results in the passenger footwell is filling up with water when it rains.
It appears to be coming from above the parcel shelf on the front pillar.
I have put silicon around the windscreen which makes no difference.
Anyone had a similar problem with their AX and cures if possible?

Definitely a case of fuel pump not running. Car has now decided to quit completely, so it's down to finding the cause.
Discovered that the fuel pump is controlled by one of two relays in a separate small box alongside the main Bosch ECU. Relay isn't being energised. Relay itself doesn't appear to be faulty, unfortunately.

Hi all, and Happy New Year.
I have a '93 Xantia SX TD, and the problem is that the rear electric windows work ok, but the glass comes out of the clip that holds the window glass to the running channel. The glass comes down slowly and goes up slowly on one side on the other the glass detaches from the clip.

Hm. For the start, check if the rear of the car is on the correct height anyway. It's 5 mm below the middle point between maximum and minimum height, with tolerance +/- 8 mm. Check if the correct height is maintained after the short journey also.
Since the car feels soft when pushed by hand, the problem can't be in fitting hydractive spheres...

To check if the starting problem is indeed caused by air entering the fuel, have you tried pumping the diesel primer bulb a few times before attempting to start the car? If doing this improves matters, then yes, air is getting into the fuel system.

Have you checked the fuel solenoid? If not, loosen off an injector union, have someone work the starter and see if fuel runs from where you've undone the union. If there's no fuel, it could be that the solenoid is sticking.

There seems to be so much trouble with cold starting of diesels but my problem is starting a hot or warm engine. Starting from cold is excellent, first time every time. I had exactly the same problem with one of my CX 2.5's (single sensor)and tried all sorts, checked connectors etc. and then a friend said change the flywheel sensor which I did and no more problems.
I'll have a look at one of the 3.0 12V I have here and measure the cold resistance and post it.

Yes - the intermediate bearing could be making the noise you have. In the past I've stopped it, at least for a short time by giving it a squirt with a liquid grease spray. Difficult to replace on the existing driveshaft unless you have access to a long puller.

Soak with loads of penetrating oil, plus gas is the best one, blunt nine inch chisel or other suitable heavy punch and a 4lb hammer, these things need alot of shock to get them moving, suport the arm with a block of wood or remove it and get it on a sturdy bench.

Use the socket to screw the new one back in, unless its extremely high quality it...

Hi Mike, unless I'm very much mistaken the failed bearing will be in the pulley of the magnetic clutch, and not in the actual pump its self, the only time these bearings aren't rolling while the engine is running is when the aircon is actualy being used, at all other times the pulley is just idleing on the bearings, with the compressor shaft...

The aircon pump on my 97 Xantia 1.9TD LX sounds like it has a bearing gone. If you remove the belt and spin the pump there is a lovely mettalic tnikling noise. Are any bearings replaceable? If not does anyone know of a good source for recon pumps (non Citroen dealer).

are you sure it ain't leaking in through the aerial base ? pop out the interior light & look for sings of water where it bolts on,its very common.if it is its just a matter of undoing the 8mm nut remove the base and applying some sealer then refit.if it is the sunroof seal then you could try sealing it back in place (it usually pops out)but it...

i just bought a saxo vtr and realised the sunroof is leaking rain around the indoor light. It does this especially when i hit the brakes hard when i am driving. I opened the sunroof and had a look if there were any blockages and couldnt see any. could it need a new sunroof seal?

Not had a problem on a Cit but have struck it often on Jap stuff I've owned.
You'll find something a return spring works on has started to seize up due to moisture getting into a plunger or something associated with it.
Normally, you have to remove door liner and try to operate manually whilst it's off, observing things that just move but appear...

Sounds like your starter or battery may be a bit suspect. Measure the voltage across the battery before you crank the engine - should be 12.5v or so. Less than 12 and it's knackered. Crank the engine and measure the voltage - it should go down, but not much below 10v. Measure the voltage with the engine running - should be about 14.5 v. Bad...

Do a search on sunroof postings if your car has one. I know from personal experience that the water gets to all sorts of strange places. It's always a good starting point.

Yes, my BX TD used to do this. I just ignored it, as it was nearly scrap anyway! The sensor for the rev counter is on the back of the block where it gets covered in all manner of oil and gunge. Taking it out and cleaning it, and resetting the clearance may clear the problem.

Swollen and leaking rubber gasket between intercooler and manifold may be.
Brake discs, the best Iv'e ever had were made by Brembo, got Bendix originals on my Xantia at the moment, buggers have only been on since August and done less than 5000 miles, but the toads are warping so I'm not impressed, going to fire the sods off and stick some more...

Hi Arry,
If you dont know its service history, or the services have been neglected in the past, do your engine flush.
After that if you are going to do between 3k and 5K oil and filter changes you should never need to flush it again.

Mileage is 78K and has been regularly serviced. Seems clean (for a diesel) inside, but engine oil is of course black.
I'll be doing 3K semi-synthetic changes and a genuine filter at each change from now on. It's my first diesel and I've always done this on my petrol cars....
