I read somewhere in the forum that after tightening the valve on the accumulator and re-pressurising the system and working the suspension from top to bottom, the pressure valve should be loosened again until any further air has been released.
Can anyone confirm that this is necessary and if so what it achieves..
thanks

Only necessary to do that when air has been given a chance to enter the system, changeing accumulator sphere and replacing the LHM are the most usual reasons.
I do it because I know air gets in during these operations and can't be helped, I can prevent most, if not all of it getting any further, its allways best to take steps to exclude it in the first instance.
This is what I do and the resons for doing it:

It's probably low on the pressure. But, the system may be loosing pressure somewere else. Usual problem is the brake valve internaly leaking (first slide valve inside it, for front brakes). It can't be repaired, it have to be replaced (the price is around 100 EUR). But don't worry, breaking power is not affected.
