Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I recently checked my LDS fluid levels and it would seem it is below minimum. Having read abs searches the forum, I’m confused as to what fluid I actually need. Halfords/Eurocarparts etc do not seem to have anything suitable.

When my wife returned home the morning she said 'the radio isn't working' . When I checked not only was the radio not working but the satnav screen was blank. There is a little button labelled 'SOS' to the bottom left of the radio and the light by it was permanently on,. Is this another case of operator error or do I have a fault?

Is this oil leaking from the turbo? Is it serious? Would an extended warranty cover this repair?

That will almost certainly be oil from the crankcase breather system, it returns from the rocker cover to be passed through the turbo and burned, it is normal as long as the pipework is not blocked up with gunge. neglecting oil changes can cause this, as can short journeys.

Hi guys working on my nephews 2008 xsara picasso 1.6hdi. I have now got the ignition to stay on but still have no crank. Be careful measuring resistance with no load ie continuity. You can get continuity from just one strand of copper whilst all the others have corrosion around it and get a low reading providing you hit that clean core. It is always better to test a wire with a small bulb in series as that will load the wire and give a more accurate idea of whether...

My car has developed an intermittent squeak (a sort of 'attempted' squeal) from the right-hand side. I THINK it's worse when I'm cornering so I'm assuming it's the power steering/belt.

What causes this?

I had the CV boot changed a few weeks ago, didn't drive it since, jacked it up today to change the bushing and saw the leak.

The outside sleeve looks pushed up, is this fixable or is it new strut time?
Also is something bent which could have caused it to push up?

Yes, it depressurises the front suspension only, fit a plastic pipe over the nipple to catch the fluid as it drains out. I used a 1/4 Deep Socket (10mm I think)to crack the seal and then a spanner to open it a little further.

Have the car supported prior to opening the nipple DON'T go under the car until suspension is in lowest position.

I have inherited a 2008 C3. The anti roll bar Bush has deteriorated so I've sourced another however the clip which holds the ARB, similar to the Xantias is clipped in at one end and held with a bolt at the other end.
The ARB clip has popped out and I'm unable to remove the bolt due to it having been crimped at the end. I don't have enough room to...

It's the least expensive option Stewart.. the car isn't worth much having spent almost all it's life sitting outside within 20 feet of the sea. It's a hard life up here being bathed in sea salt almost every day.
I'm expecting to have to pay out for extra drop links and a bottom ball on the wishbone if I'm lucky resulting from the subframe change....

Just about to have the Michelin Primacy 4's fitted to my Picasso, it currently has factory alloys and 16 tyres fitted but when I put the registration number into tyre websites it says they will most likely be 17 and offers 16 as an option so my questions, can I put 17 tyres straight onto factory alloys? I have one missing from the left rear cylinder and one about to rust through on the right rear. I was hoping someone would be able to tell me their size. Also does anyone refurb the cylinders?

It's the pin that sits in the side of the hydraulic cylinder. I managed to replace it with a 8mm dia. x 32mm long x 2.5mm thick spring pin but I suspect the original was 1.5mm thick.

Hello! Happy Easter!

Like some I guess, I used this long weekend to refresh the suspension on my C5 X7.

Surprisingly, the lower ball joint was easy to replace, but the upper one is completely stuck... I do have the good socket, tried with a 1 meter extension...and it even broke my extension! Any advise ? I am thinking of buying a powerful...

Finnally got it!! Such a hard thing to do ... I think what helped me was to cut the ball joint short, so the heat could reach the thread better.

Now, I feel like the screw going through the pivot holder, at the top, can move... The bushes are not holding the screw tight into the pivot holder:is it normal? Doesn't feel like, but I can't see any...

As per the title my 2005 C2 HDI 1.4 design beeps three times at me every time I start it up, it has no warning lamps lit and drives fine, its not the seatbelt warning, ideas from the collective please.

Hi Everyone,

We are just after a little advice. We have a 2014 C4 Picasso Grand E-HDI Airdream VTR which has nearly done 30k miles. We've had it since Jan 2018.
We noticed the engine seemed to rev too high when accelerating and if you back off on the accelerator and go through the gears gently it seemed OK. Anyway it was in the garage this Monday...

Also, if you are towing a braked trailer of any sort, try to manually back it up (if the brakes cannot be overridden). Reversing with a trailer when its' brakes engage really does not help the DMF at all!

my car runs in stiff mode at the back sometimes where it also rises after driving over speed bumps. Has changed the regulator valve and height sensor. Anyone have a solution?

If the height sensor was not put back correctly in the exact position (and I mean if the clamp that holds the sensor on the rear axle was moved) then this can result in incorrect height data being sent to the suspension ECU in the BHI.

The only other thing I can think of is the Hydraulic block or there is air in the system.

my 2019 Berlingo 1.5 hdi developed strange rattle / rubbing sound almost instantly i drove from the dealership. It was summer so sound wan't exactly pronounced. When it got cooler rubbing / creaking sound got louder. It seems like it's coming from the upperside of the dashboard. Sound like a rubbing plastic / rubber interface or something...

So the drivers seatbelt retracts normally until a certain point. Then it goes slow and just stops. You have to retract it back with hand. It's not much but it's enough for the belt to hang a little. I reckon it's the dirt and stuff that makes it do that? Or is it the roller inside.

Correct. There was a lot of debris in there which I cleaned and sprayed silicone spray on the belt. Works great now.

Hi there i have started to get a multitude of issues recently with the vehicle

When i start the car the blowers are on full whack and the climate control is illuminated can still control the temps but i cannot turn off with blower with the rotatory dial this...

Hi everyone, taking my C5 over to Germany next month and was thinking of using a waterless coolant by Evans:
However I am unsure as to how much I would need for a complete swap out? I'm quite impressed by this waterless coolant as it has a boiling point of 180c and a freeze up below -40c! Any thoughts?

I have a 2017 relay, 114k mikes, full main dealer history, it’s had speed limiter on it so not hammered, 1 owner etc and very nice condition

the motor does sounds to have more of a rattle than my old 2007, appreciate it’s a totally different motor but it does sound “harsher” than my old van

I have read threads on this topic but not sure if my problem is the same!

Filled with fuel from normal forecourt, next morning when cold it almost refused to start. Several turns of they key worked but when going it was lumpy, surging and ‘hunting’ as we used to say in the 60s/70s. Odd puffs of black smoke too – over-fuelling?
