Citroen C4 Grand Picasso Eolys fluid fault

2013 C4GP After a fuel top up service light came on and warning message appeared and car went in to reduced power mode. Local garage plugged in diagnostics and fault said "multiplexed additive pump. Pump fault."
If new tank/pump fitted and topped up with fluid can the counter be reset using the Easydiagnostics kit recommended on this forum?

Can your local garage not reset it? Might be cheaper and easier to have them do it.

Thanks, yes I've spent too much time thinking about this and it's going to a local garage to be properly fixed and reset. Too many people I spoke to wanted to program it out but wouldn't entertain that. Still I would think about the diagnostic kit for my own interest. If anyone knows the answer to the question it would be appreciated.

Good, don't listen to them - it's illegal to do that and could leave you (or the next owner) with a huge bill.

As for the diagnostic kit, yes, a Lexia kit with Diagbox software is what the dealer uses, so yes the additive counter is reset using this system.

If the warning came on about low additive level, then the engine ECU thinks there is insufficient additive left in the tank. When you add fuel, it triggers the additive pump to dose out a quantity of additive into the fuel tank, which is why the message came on after adding fuel.

You haven't provided any fault codes nor the VIN, so I can't advise on the specific fault.

Thanks for the reply. I had an independent garage fix it for me. Turns out the additive tank was empty and the pump broken, they fitted a new tank and reset the ECU counter. I don't know why the warning light for low level in the tank didn't ever come on, maybe previous owner ignored it and had it switched off. All good now. I fitted a DPF regeneration LED indicator on the drivers side mirror when I got the car back as I had the mirror apart anyway to fit a new ambient temperature sensor - turned out it was a broken wire, the sensor was ok.
