Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I was trying to check out no blower fault this morning. The fact that the air con seems dead as well--no sound from aircon clutch kicking in-no nothing. I got as far as pulling a plug from heater motor. When I checked to see if any current from Red and Black wires, test light worked. So perhaps current going to motor. There were two...

And yes, that’s got the switch feel about it. :evil:
When my switch went, turning the key always cured it for a short while.
To confirm that, you could stick the lamp into the backs of the two thick wire terminals at the motor plug, and let the lamp dangle.

MY hatchback needed about 10 seconds after starting before the STOP light would go out (I know this is too long) but my estate goes out almost immediately. If I do not move the car settles long after the light has gone out. Is this right?

Ok so just got a pallet load of extras for my xantia
Full leather interior with all matching trim from a exclusive model
So I know the pre tension and side airbags will just be the same plugs as the original but what wires will I need the make all the motors work?
Also got the switch unit for the heaters but I would imagine that there will be...

Well the seats are in and after a bit of fiddling getting the pre-tensioners swapped all seems good the seats are a simple swap as expected. Haven’t even looked at the heated seat system but the rest is surprisingly simple
For anyone looking to do this as an upgrade …..Well worth it & didn’t even need to do anything with the motor wires just plug...

Hello All,
On my sons Xant Mk2, 90 HDi, NON Hydractive,
both rear rams have leaked out at some stage, because the boxes where they live, are covered in LHM.
I have had 7 Bx`s and 3 Xantias. There has never been any sign of a leak in all of them, all ram boxes being totally dry.
I wondered what could have caused BOTH rams to leak. We intend to...

So its an internal leak.
Then you should check if it really is the rear cylinders leaking - or something else reverse flowing the leak-off piping system IN-to the cylinder bellows. Thats the plastic pipe rearmost (to rear of car) in the bellows. Check while engine idle & suspension in normal height and loaded. I.e. jack on the rear arm and...

My C5 has a full colour navigation system.

There are 2 CDs with it.

1 is the operating system

2 is the Map info.

I have the Map info disc for UK/Ireland (detailed) plus major roads of europe. But, mine is for 2001/02. I can find updates of this map CD on Ebay for 2005/06 for around £60.

But, I can't find an update CD for the operating system...

Hi,

I had some problems with the tailgate lock so I disassembled the thing and figured out that the problem appears to be with the servo unit...

Does anyone here know how is this thing supposed to work? Particulary if the latch is supposed to move freely (it offers no resistance) or should it turn the motor inside when you move it?

Hi, it started as a work-dont't-work but after a few days turned into no operation for the drivers window switch (the one with the 4 buttons)
It did on accasion when i pressed up-full go up in increments rather than all the way. I noticed there is a bulb in this one (can't remember if it worked before) that is not illuminated.
Took out the switch...

Was in traffic yesterday and smoke started coming from the passenger seat, foul electric smoke :shock: Its a 3.0 V6 R reg Xantia Exclusive, it has electric seats, but not heated. Now the very front of the seat (where the back of the bottom leg are near when sitting on it was VERY warm.

Stopped the car, turned the power off, it stopped smoking....

Seems like a motor is working against an endstop. Bit weird as they should have thermal fuses build in. Could also be a low-ohm path in a faulty motor acting as a heating element - just barely NOT burning the fuse.
In any case check the fuse is as rated by Citroen. Too heavy fuses are potiential fire hazards - as you know now :?

I understand the older DS speheres could be split up so you can replace the membrane inside them, as well as topping up the nitrogen. This may save money in the long term if one buys a batch of membranes to replace old ones with and of course a gassing kit....

So is it possible to use DS spehere's on a Xantia if they had/have the same...

Can someone confirm that this drawing from PR-Net shows that the tail light can only be bought as a complete assembly, and if so, at what price ?
The main plastic part of ‘A’ is broken at the mountings, and the light fell off, and dangled by the wires.

The plastic cover is clipped to the 2 brackets on the roof.

Once the cover is removed the light is screwed to the roof using 2 x screws.

If you get a 406 light get the connector plug & a bit of the wiring at the same time :wink:

hi there

I have a 1984 LNA and would love to be able to drive it more- the problem is that the car pulls to the left when braking- sometimes it is very noticeable, sometimes you think it is just following the camber of the road. I have had both calipers off (not disconnected) and used a g-clamp to hold each piston in plae while pressing the brake...

Brief update- I have fitted new arms on both sides- the nearside ball joint cover had split and the one on the other side was on the way to splitting too, so they needed doing anyway.

However, it still pulls to the left under braking, so I will try the hoses next, and then maybe the calipers...

Just been clearing my garage up after disc/pad change on missus's Xsara and found a couple of new (about 1yr) spheres, two rear and antisink, which i'd not yet got round to fitting. Question is, would they still be ok to fit at 1yr old, they obviously 'look' like new and more than likely woill be mucho better than whats on the Xant but i've got...

If the LHM was in contact with the Nitrogen, I'd have no doubt about agreeing with you but there is a rubber membrane between the two. I'm not sure whether diffusion of gases through rubber membranes is quite covered by Boyle's writings

Are there any differences between the Citroen 1.9td starter motor and a Peugeot 1.9td used in ZX's and 306's of 1995-96.

The reason of asking, my ZX turns over fairly fast and starts easily, but with my sons and daughters 306 one is a 1995 and the other a 1996 both are really slow when turning over and struggle to start in comparison to mine....

I believe you! Its just that I thought that the geared starter was the natural update for the direct drive type and that they were all like that now. Mind you, I dont think I have ever bought a new starter. You used to be able to get brush and bearing repair kits for for the old ones, so that was what I did.

Hello,

does anyone by chance have some close up pictures of the rotary connector?

After I put the steering wheel back on in my Xantia (93 with radio buttons on the wheel), the wire got stuck into the rotary connector (didn't notice that) and when I turned the wheel, the connector got opened...

It took me one hour and several tries to put all...

The Airbag warning light is always on in my Saxo VTR. When I cleaned it out the other day, it went off for a while and then came back on? I've been told it is something to do with the seat belt connector? Any ideas please?

Thanks for all the help. Got to the plugs and cleaned them. There's one under the seat and another by the seat belt anchor itself. Did both on both seats and now the light goes off as it should.

I would concur with Kowalski on the turbo. As the 2.1 td has hydraulic tappets I dont think that the camshafts break, probably only the rockers. And, yes, it is possible to remove the head without taking the engine out, I've done it, but its not easy. Probably took me about 20 hours to renew the head gasket on my XM, but I must say its run...

Well now ... the missus's Xsara went in for MOT today and duly failed - nearside CV boot insecurely mounted, ie not where it should be. Now we know what that 'tinkling' noise was which eventually disappeared. Must've been the original clip. Bl**dy hell i said, have i got to come back? Yup was the answer. Clean it, grease it and stiick a cable tie...

I have used cable ties with no probs.
I have also used tying wire. 2 circits of wire around the boot and ends nipped up , then cut short. Also called locking wire--used probably before Loctite came along

Used to use that in garages before Ligarex or cable ties were invented.
You can get it from a steel erector on a building site-the people...

It's always best to use a tool that's up to the job than one which is at the limit of its ability to do the job.

Its not a T reg one from Stoke on trent area is it? It was making me sick follow that car the other day, it was bouncing all over the place.

Could be your height correctors or linkage if it feels bouncy bumpy.

I had a similar experience, I spotted an Xantia in the rear view mirror, and it was bouncing in the outer lane of two lanes of traffic....

You might also be suffering from wear inside the actual wiper motor. The wiper on one of my XM's wouldn't park at all - it just stopped where you turned it off. I opened up the wiper motor gearbox and discovered that ther had been poor contact between the wiper arms and the circuit tracks stuck to the side of the nylon gear wheel. this had cuased...

For the sake of the warranty, I put my one year old C5 in to a main dealer for the first service. I haven't yet had an invoice listing what's been done, but since it cost me £255, I would expect all filters to have been changed. I've had the air filter out and clearly it hasn't been changed since it has autumn leaves in it, but how about this fuel...

Is it just my handbook that completly ignores the 3.0 V6 Xantia?

Under Mantinence it has every engine except the V6, under tyre presure at the back and fluid levels every engine except the V6, and on the sheet that lists MPG, 0-60 etc it has every engine except the V6.

BIL has just rang me to say that an orange light keeps flashing on occasion and wonders what it is.

I believe it may be the same one that on occasion flashed with myself which is the coolant lamp.

However, with not having the car for so long I couldnt really guess at what he's referring to, he says that the symbol looks like the top of a coat...

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me of a simple test to detect if and ABS sensor has died on the car.

The warning light on the dash came on yesterday and is on full time.
I am assuming a dodgy sensor but don't know how to check them.

Naturally, being a Xantia owner I own a multi-meter, will it help me this time?

I have a friend who works in a garage with access to diagnostic gubbins, but his wont work on cits or pugs as they change their software every year or so. Typical.

Hi all,
I left this forum last year as my Synergie ownership ended in favour of a Sedona. But recently my other car got shunted so I replaced it with a Xsara 52 plate HDI-110.
So far so good, but a few minor gremlins are creeping out of the woodwork as it approaches 100k miles

I'm getting wheel bearing growl in the morning when veering left but...

I literally held up an old bench vice up to the bolat joint and clamped it together.

Anyhow, I've manged to get both hubs off and carefully fed the ABS cables through the inner wings, so tomorrow its phase II of the plan, i.e. get someone to press out the knackered bearings and put the new ones in.
Then I'll reassemble over the weekend...in...

hi all i know i should check the forum for this, but just quickly, am I right?

Turn engine on, set car high, get assistant to depress brake, undo each bleed nipple in turn, starting at either back caliper, then do the front ones..

Return the fluid back into resevoir via a long tube

All, I have put my original clarion back in my xantia.. it was working perfectly when removed. It is one of the models fitted to Mark 2 xantias, with cd changer capability. It came straight up with the 4 central dashes. I pressed and held BAND and 4 more dashes joined those, underneath.

This seems to have gone on mine. When driving you can hear a knocking when quickly letting your foot on or off the accelerator and also sometimes going over bumps etc.

I took it into a local garage as I didn't really fancy changing it cos it looks like a pain in the arse to get out - no doubt totally seized. They diagnosed virtually non-existant...

It's a shame they didnt stick with the balljoint designs used in the GS and CX where the balljoints mounted to the hub with two small bolts and a peg. *so* much easier to remove and fit

I have another problem with my 1999 HDI sx Xantia I replaced the front and rear spheres which did wonders for the ride also did the rear antisink sphere and I’m currently still running the Hydraflush. I did say the front anti-sink _valve_ :) There is no front anti-sink sphere. It's the valves (one front, one rear) which provide the anti-sink behaviour. The rear anti-sink sphere is mainly just a rear brake accumulator, although it can affect the efficiency of the anti-sinkvalve at the rear. (Long story....)

everytime I fit a standard unit back in a Xantia it never quite goes in correctly. I always thought wires etc were getting in the way of the back of the unit. But it seems that there are two silly little plastic things you need to line up.!

So, you have two (silver) torx bolts that hold radio to plastic cage, and 4 screws that hold cage to car....

After disconnecting my battery yesterday,my alarm keeps going off every time you open the door or start the ignition. I've turned of the siren, so it's quiet, but the headlights keep flashing.

My plip doesn't work either :(

Is it possible to manually deactivate the alarm, or will I need to sort out my plip first?

Open the door, press and hold down the alarm button (on my car, the furthest right of three buttons to the right of the steering wheel), put the key in the ignition and turn it fully.
Once you have turned the key, continue to hold the button down until both 'turn' lights stop flashing.

The car in question is an XM 2.5 TD Break, 1998 - but I imagine from other forums that the fault is typical of Cits fitted with HA II. I have an LHM leak which appers to be coming from the hydractiv control unit that is bolted to the middle of rear axle crossbeam. Guys.. this is bothering me..
I keep loosing one or both Dipped beams.
The quick remedy is to touch/move the bulb.

So yesterday I tried to get more involved.. I HATE working on the back of these lights as you get cut (especially on drivers side)

Anyway, sanded bulb contact (which meets headllight) and spade for 12V +

Hi there... for a fix that will not only cure the intermittent fault but give better lighting, you could upgrade the lighting circuit with heavier grade wiring and a 30 amp relay with an extra fuse. I did this recently and I'm impressed with the result

Guys, how long does it take for your suspension the stiffen up after pressing the button, likewise doing the opposite?

Does the system pressurise all four corners? on mine the back end is still soft after pressing the button, and also, once the front is firm it seems difficult to get it back to soft again, after depressing button one more...

Just a thought, but if you remove the fuse that supplies the HA ECU then the car will be permanently stuck in hard mode, even at a standstill, as there will be no current to energise the solenoids into soft.

As well as disabling the HA2 circuit, the fuse also powers the central locking/alarm and interior lights

Hi - I need to replace the drivers side hand brake cable on my Xsara TD Estate (drums at rear). Is this a fairly easyish job or a bit of a pig - given that my DIY skills are limited!? Any tips would be much appreciated! I have the Haynes manual, but this doesn't give much detail.
I have looked at the GSF parts list - I presume this would be the RH...

I just want to know if anybody has ideas on how to improve the performance of a ZX 2.0 8v petrol.

I was thinking maybe installing the inlet manifold of the ZX 16v.

I agree the 8v has better torque but around 6k the engine dies. I would love to rev it to the 6.5k redline :D

i have got a set of xantia turbo alloys from a friend now my question is am i ok using the same bolts from my steel wheels for my alloys or do i need different bolts ?

i have checked the bolt and it is tapered like the holes in the alloys and seats ok ?...

I think you need matching bolts for alloy wheels. If I use the steel spare on mine, there is a flat washer to be removed from the bolts before fitting the steel rim.

hi!

is there any connection between air in brake lines and the fact the rear of my car is going all the way up in cold starts?

when i cold start the car, the rear end tends to go all the way up, i did citaerobics, but did not help, could it be air in the rear brakes?

Just a thought,
Maybe your height corrector has siezed in the high position? Power wash under neath the car, let it dry, then coat the height corrector with WD40 to loosen up the linkage, wipe everthing down then coat the linkages with grease or waxoyl.

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put in another receiver (third one since I bought the car at Christmas) and it worked at the first attempt.

i have a 2000 model hdi with a rattle between 2000-3000 rpm when accelerating, seems to quieten as the engine gets warmer, someone has suggested the crank pulley, can this cause a rattling sound under load?

Another possibility to explore is worn brake pads! Changing the pads cured similar symptoms on mine which sounded like vibration/chattering from bearings. The pads were only about half worn, but it seems some calipers/hubs can be prone to this (I have heard previously that there was some sort of Citroen fix for the same problem on some...

folks i am being very silly here.. I am assuming my relays are above my fuses, after opening panel under dashboard?

The fuse board has a small red tag at one end, i thought if i pulled the the board would drop down to reveal the relays, but its not :(

what do i do?
