Xantia steering rack

Unread post by KennyW »

Hi Guys & Gals,

First of all, a Happy new year to all members.

Does anyone have diagrams of the various Xantia steering racks :?:

I obtained a rack which is from a 99 Xantia which has a different Pinion valve and rack design.
My rack has the power ram bolted onto the rack which i believe is the option for several years poss btn 93 - 98, therefater there were changes
depending on the engine.
The reason behind my question/s are can i fit the new rack obtained once i change the Universal Joint from the steering column.

Hi Kenny,

Happy New Year Image

But it’s off to a bad start.
The Citroën site is all ‘error on page’, and ‘log back in’.
Here are a few racks from the collection, hoping they’re of some use:

Thanks Cloggz,

Yes they are very useful and it would appear my rack is a late mk1 fitted to my mk2.

I have a later mk 2 rack in my garage which is different in design again.

Typical Citroen.

Kenny

P.S. Happy New Year to you. :)

Good evenings folks,

And there's more!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just got another rack which is the same as mine but the pinion rack design is different :?

My question now is how many different pinion valves were there design and used by Citroen ( let alone racks).

I currently can't access the citroen service site to check what type was fitted to mine.

Maybe this is a question which can be answered by Martin (Pleiades).

Hi Gang,

I managed to access service citroen and it would appear to be the same Pinion valve for all mk 2 1.9 TD & SD but different Pinion valves for the 2.0 hdi, 2.1TD.

The mk 1 D & TD 1.9 would appear to have a modified to make the mk 2.

Does anyone out there have any photos or diagrams of these valves and others fitted to the petrol variants.

All the above pinions have some form of power steering.
