Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi there

I've noticed since I bought my 2007 C5 1.6HDi VTR hatch a month or so ago that when I unlock it in the morning the suspension lowers and then by the time I'm in the driver's seat I can hear the pump (motor?) and the car raises again slightly.

Any idea why it does that? Seems a bit pointless and a drain on power unless it's a fault?...

yes, and everytime you open or close a door it checks the height (so if you have an estate, and use the button in the back to raise or lwoer the rear, it will return to its normal height just because you closed one of the rear doors, anoying)

I have heard is said that it checks the ride height every ten seconds also, but this must be when you are...

hi all i have a 2007 Berlingo that seems to be getting stuck in 5th gear, you can move up the box fine however when you try to come down from 5th you have to pull it right back towards revers then it will pop out,

any ideas ?

ok, getting stuff sorted with this picasso now......just something annoying me with the rear wash wipe. If i give it a quick flick,it goes about four time,stopping a bit further each time. Not a big problem but i would expect it to just wipe then finish at the same place each time,but it doesn't//why is this.??? cheers............dean......

It's because the S1 Xantia is an incredible piece of design. Subtle, understated yet very sleek. Not as sleek as an XM, mind!

Problem is that you can't improve on an excellent design.

I think it's the headlights on the S1 Xantia that are so attractive. They are long and low. Compare them to a 940 Volvo of the...

I have a Xantia HDI 2Ltr and noticed the other day that the steering seemed a bit heavy checked the tyre pressures and they were ok checked the fluid and it was ok whats next thanks

Hello, I need to remove the cylinder head on a 16 valve Grand Picasso Diesel engine. The engine code is: RHW. Does anyone know of the head bolt torque/angle figures. Also, is there an online engine service manual for it anywhere?
Has anyone out there done this job before?
Is there any problem with replacing the combined inlet manifold/cam bearing...

Haynes for the C5 covers this engine (well sort of - there were quite a few bits missing when we did the clutch on my mate's C5 2.0HDi 16V a couple of weeks ago). Not sure how much detail it goes into on the engine, but there's deffo a section on it!

yep all put together as it should be and i gave the small spring a bit of a stretch too, i will put the whole lot back together tomorrow and test it then, i think its because there just isnt any pressure being fed to the valve as its not connected, ive put air through it and it doesnt seem to leak and is opening and closing so it must be working,...

Trundling along the A26 today, when CLUNK-CLUNK, CLUNK-CLUNK: the doors locked and unlocked themselves twice as I was travelling at 40mph in the limit.

As the title says I had a new key cut to fit in a replacement remote. Key worked fine in the ignition barrel, but when I inserted it into the door to try, it got stuck!! Have tried pulling out with a pair of pliers but it wont move. Tried spraying WD40 in but no joy so have had to cut it off for now as anyone would mess with it and possibly damage...

My 607 doesn't have a lock on the passenger side at all, only on the drivers side.
I think it's a good thing as it's one less place for a thief to attack the car.
I'd swap the passenger lock to the drivers side and find a way to smoothly and securely blank off the hole.

In my 2002 C5 there is a small multi plug (type thing) sticking out from behind the trim of the rear passenger quarter window.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be for?

Citroen Xantia 2.0 HTDi W Reg

Suddenly over the last 2 weeks my gears have become very stiff. It is very hard to change gears and have to use all my strength to force it in. It gets a bit easier when the car warms up. Any help much appreciated, thanks.

As per title.I ask as come spring I wish to have a go at renewing the timing belt and associated bits,but.....is it a viable option to do it yourself as I've noticed that side of the engine is dam close to that inner wing.There dont seem to be much space to swing a spanner.I've renewed the timing belt on my old Xantia 1.9TD,but there was slightly...

Hi, again appolagies for it not being a Citroen, but the cavalier website is being a bit vague in recommending checking a relay with no explannation
in how to test the relay.
the fault lies within the ABS system on a 1995 vauxhaul cavalier mk 3 saloon. they say check the surge arrestor relay. but any further info isnt forthcomming.

I was thinking dremel, or jig saw, but what would be the best way to make a clean cut?

I also agree. If you use Dremel at first step you might have molten bumper material due to heat created by the cutting tool.
It would give an untidy cutting line. If you try to cut a plastic pipe you'll see what I mean.

I just noticed a loose Blue live wire hanging down below the fuse box at drivers knee! Does anybody know what this is for?

No the Blower Motor has been broken for a while. Also the electric windows work intermmitently. I traced the blue wire back and it was joined to a wire behind Fuses 1,2 and 3.

When i start the car and pull off the brakes dont work, when i say they dont work what they do is. On the first breaking i perform after pulling off there are no brakes after that they are fine??

I am still trying to chase all my gremlins in my car (1997 1.9TD with 130K)

I keep losing loads of coolant. It seems to go through the whole lot in about 2 weeks. I cant see where it is going. I have noticed a few drips underneath but with the wet weather it is hard to find.

I am also find that the cooling system is massively pressured. Earlier...

Hi,

Might only be a short term temporary solution but have seen claims that
K Seal can fix head gasket failures.

Cost about £10-12 and might just buy you time till you can fix the head gasket properly. I believe its avalable over the web and at GFS etc.

Could be worth a try.

got a puncture repaired and now the car is flashing Suspension Fault, max speed 55mph . The suspension will no longer raise or lower the car.

Having looked up a few things recently on service.citroen I have found out that early Picassos (pre about 2004) are NOT multiplexed 8-) So no COMS2000, BSI etc to worry about! The change over can be ID by the stalks going from squared off similar to Xantia to rounded (of COMS2000) like Xsara MK2s.

As the title says really. Went to leave for work this morning and turned my blower on whilst I attempted to scrape the window. Nothing. Didn't matter which setting it was on the fan was not willing to co-operate. Then went to turn on the heated rear window. Nothing. Pressed the button and the light wouldn't come on. So I can't see forwards or...

The air bag light is permanently on on my 2001 Picasso.
I've been told today by a mobile mechanic that it's probably the steering wheel 'squib' that's faulty/broken. Common problem so he says
Approx £200 for a new one apparently, so breakers yard or e bay beckon.

I've been warned however that there are several different ones with their own built...

If it's anything like the 306's and the Xantia that I just had to fix last week it'll be a dirty connection under one of the front seats.

The 306's used to need the connection under the seat on the orange wire for the seat belt pretensioner cleaning.

The Xantia I did needed the side airbag connection on the passengers side cleaning.

I nipped out from work today and on my industrial estate is a scrap yard and i was gutted to see a good looking XM on a recovery truck on its way in :( :evil: .
this scrap yard does nt break the car it just crushes them,what a waste :bigcry:

they do, ive just fitted some from the same manufacturer to my brother Honda prelude, only £220 inc vat and shipping direct from china even though on the ebay add it said they were from florida, America :?

i noticed when i depress the brakes while stopping i keep hearing the front sphere clicking continuously and it goes away when i release it. any ideas what could that be?

Hi Deanxm the sphere i use on the front both suspension as the seller himself not sure either for front or rear strut!!And the sphere itself don't had any indication of how many bar.

End of last November I replaced all 4 wheel spheres and the accumulator.
Initially the ride quality was lush, totally superb compared to the state it was in with 5 mucked spheres !!
Since then though, I'm sure the ride as become a little harsher, it is quite knobbly over transverse ridges, the nastier potholes and rough road surfaces. It's not...

With hydractive suspension the corner spheres are stiff and the two centre spheres are there for the soft ride.
When you throw the car about, the centre spheres are excluded, so the suspension stiffens giving a more stable firmer ride.
The sport button on Xantias just changes how soon the firm ride kicks in rather than putting the car into...

I have a 57 plate berlingo enterprise van 1.6hdi engine. the van was running fine and then just died on me . no warnings or noises. its a fuel supply problem. if you squirt a bit of easystart down the filter pipe it fires.
can anyone give me part numbers of the fuel pump( pumps ?) and any ideas where to start. would the pump just stop ? is there...

Hello,
Couple of questions.
Is it ok to use ethylene glycol coolant? need to change the coolant asap.

My fanbelt is very noisy with the squeal not stopping until over 2K revs. Is it possible to re-tension and how straightforward is replacing it?

I've known the shouldered Allen bolt to be exceedingly tight in the casting thread. If after undoing the pulley bolts it is still reluctant to move, remove the whole frame it sits on and get some heat and penetrating oil on the bolt threads and work it carefully until it is free.

Have a 59 plate C5 exclussive 2.0L HDi with the Hydro suspension, just had it serviced at 12000 miles and been toldby a Citroen dealer that the front tyres need replacing as they have 5mm on the inside of the wheel an 1.6 on the outside. Got to work this morning, and was greeted by steam emanating from under the bonnet :? Seems the bleed screw on the stat housing has worked loose - it must be just hanging in there - lucky I didn't lose it and all the coolant! I guess you're asking about the supplementary brake light (?). Most probably it will not fit :(

Supplementary brake light product codes are different as seen below:

Just spent the afternoon cleaning the hydraulic system and replacing the ageing LHM fluid with Hydraflush. The old oil was terrible, when I bled the brakes it came out like runny gravy! Bled over half a litre from the back till fresh oil came through.

The car now feels great! The steering is lighter and quicker. The brakes are now much sharper...

I'd say its worthwhile as they are dead ends, also i'm unsure if hydraflush would mix all that much with the old lhm, so i'd purge out all the crap in the brakes until hydraflush comes out, then do the same when you put nice new lhm in once you've finished with the hydraflush.

What i also did, was empty out the hydraflush, re-filtered it to...

Last year I aquired a 2.1 SEd Manual XM, which had what looked like poor strut tops.

This is a start to proove and show that strut top condition on the TOP is NOT important what so ever, and its the underside that needs checking...

My 2.1 has been sitting...

Hello, I am currently working on a 2005 (older shape) Suzuki Grand Vitara with the PSA HDi engine, code DWW 16v.
It was run low on oil (very) after a faulty turbocharger. It was repaired at the Suzuki main dealers. After the repair (£1000+), they helpfully informed him that the engine has probably sustained damage owing to the low oil level.

I cannot get my rear door to shut, push the door to and it does not click. The latch does not seem to stick when you push it with your finger.

Its done this twice now, and both times i had to sit there for 20 minutes just playing with it and it eventually stuck, but i went into auto mode today and opened the door :( . No joy this time, been...

Had this on an Activa I bought from a forum member here and ultimately,
the cassette of the door mechanism needs complete replacement:

bit of a PITA but you need to do it to get the door to close and lock securely.

Having a C5 that goes through front tyres was wondering about renewing the front ones (budget tyres start at £40/each fitted) or partworn with about 5mm of tread for £30 the pair fitted.

Any thoughts on the pro's and cons of fitting part worn?

I don't know what model of Uniroyals they were, other than being Euro part-worns and German made. A basic non-directional tread of smallish blocks.

One advantage of driving a lot of miles, is tyres aren't on for that long so a bad choice disappears soon enough. I chew through front tyres, and always shift the rears forward.

Yep, you pull the gaiters down. They can be a bugger to get back. Clean and lubricate with LHM and kind of screw them back on.

I'm not sure about white grease, I've never had good experiences with it. Either use LHM (although it won't last hugely long) or use thin normal oil/lithium-based grease like Castrol LM. Don't use any more than a smear...

Hi all, It's not really painful only the thought of splitting the first internal diaphragm is and the cost of replacing a whole corrector.

Currently got car in bits. All the mechanism is working like a dream with each level on the rear corrector rotating under its own weight - HEAVEN!

Problem is I have removed rubber cover, first nut and metal...

They did become damaged in removal. Judicious use of the angle grinder proved their downfall.

Found new nuts in my mate's stores but only after struggling with a vice, allen key and 19mm spanner.

Interesting point with the damaged threads for same part from ECP. I wonder if they are buying in 2nd...

Hi,

This question is really regarding the 1.9d dw8 engine fitted to both the berlingo and Peugeot partner. The car in question is a peugeot partner.

My mothers car, just completed re-shimming the inlet valve's because it wouldn't start. Now it starts ok. However, its so slow. Have I timed it wrong? or are they just really crap?
