Could be air leaking into the pump intake, the rubber pipe can crack where its connected to the pump, a slipping pump belt can also cause this but unlikely if it has a ribbed belt, or it could of course be a defective pump.

Hi
Thanx for the swift reply. is it possible to connect a manometer to the pump's out in order to measure if it provides enough pressure, and if so - how much pressure should the pump provide?

Lubricate the lower steering UJ before you do anything else - better than 9 times out of ten this will fix it:

Steering UJ thread

Full left lock with the suspension on high and you can do it from behind the wheel. Might need to rotate the steering half a turn to get onto the other side of the UJ.

That's the cure =D> and when I also had the same problem long ago, I applied a handful of grease.
Use rubber gloves, it' a bit messy
The universal joint is behind the metal heat shield. You can reach it without removing the shield.
If you remove air filter box you'll have more space to work.
(- Edit: Air filter box tip was for the LHD Xantias  )
