I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

I need to top up break fluid on my 2007 Citroen C4 2lt Unleaded.
Which type of break fluid I should use. I noticed there are DOT4, DOT5.1 etc stuff but I am not sure which one to go with. Your help much appreciated.

DOT 4 and 5.1 are practically the same stuff and can be mixed, the only difference is that 5.1 has a higher boiling point than 4.

Unless you're regularly boiling your brake fluid DOT 4 is fine :lol:

I am sure this topic has been covered lots of times before but for me its first time. My indicator on right turn only is tick ticking! If I hold stalk up its ok and if I tap it down it also holds - but normal operation and its the fast ticking sound. Do I need a new switch or can I repair? Its working fine on left turn. Hazard lights all good....

C5 - can Lexia tell me which parking sensors are not working

I am getting an error telling me my parking assistance is not working properly.

If I hook it up to a lexia will it tell me which of the sensors is defective?

Also, i have a number of spare sensors. Is there a way of telling if they are working, eg measuring resistance or something across the contacts.

Hello all,

I am quite shaky with the electrical side of maintainence. Will have a go at most mechanical issues, but electrics are a minefield to me!

On my 2.7hdi C6 the twin cooling fan is not working. I it would likely be the same fan as on C5 and 407 2.7hdis, and I suppose cooling fan issues may be relatively universal.

Cars with 2 fans normally have one fan for radiator cooling and the other for the air con cooling. Its not unusual (Tom Jones) to have them both come on in extreme temp conditions when one fan isn't sufficient.

I need to get a new set of vented discs for my C5 and have had a look on the eurocarparts site and they list two brands - Pagid and Eicher - neither of which I have heard of.

Anybody know whether these are any good or if not, suggest where i can get some discs at a good price.

I would echo some of the sentiments above.
I think both makes are perfectly decent but would probably feel most comfortable in terms of longevity with Pagid.
Despite being a premium brand that is often marketed as having motorsport links I have found EBC to be awfully hit and miss, particularly in terms of brake pads.

Interesting, its just what my mot test station told me, he said because my car was so old it didnt need type approved parts (BS/EN) and it only meant the quality of the parts were garranteed to meet a set standard, also that post 20XX reg cars would fail without type approved systems due to the fact it was common knowledge they dont perform well...

Thing is the XUD is a quicker revving engine compared to the HDi but the HDi has more torque than the XUD.

The fuelling wins it for me at the moment in the battle although the smoothness of the HDi and its higher MPG is good as well :)

The temperature controls for the dual-zone climate have little effect in the C5. They blow cold if the temp is set to anything under 28c and will only blow warm air out if set to 28.

I guess the cabin temperature sender is duff, and the fact that the external temperature is being reported way high - 46c today when it was 13c - isn't helping.

You can gently prise out the mirror glass, if you get something as wide and flat as you can each side and lever it should come out fairly easily, you will see the sensor projecting through a hole in the bottom.

You can get the sensor from Citroen but they are not cheap, my last one cost £30+, I think someone else does do them cheaper but I can't...

Took my Xsara (non Picasso) switch apart in the hope to fix dead blower circuit. Unfortunately no success to get to reliably to work. Citroen quoted me £135 for new switch but with lock (probably no keys...) and they can't be sold separately. Clearly they must make a lot of spare part sales this way... I refused, needless to say.

When fitting a replacement auxiliary drive belt on a diesel, if the fuel injector pump sprocket were to be moved (ie. rotated), would that cause a timing problem.

If so, can that timing issue be resolved, by lining up the flywheel timing holes and injector sprocket holes?

The benefit of your experience on citroen diesels is highly valued by me!...

#its the Vaccum valve for the Pump Advance when the car is cold. It runs off a Vaccum controled by an Electro valve, rather then the Wax Stat that was perfectly good enough for years.

Berlingo 1.9d died while driving

Hi to everyone :)
I have this Berlingo 1.9d that died while driving. I did a timing belt two months ago and had no issues until now. There is fuel to the injectors, I am nor sure how strong the pressure should be. I changed the glowplug relay - same thing. I was wondering if any of you have some advice for me :)

I have got a pump for my Xantia but it is missing the electrical fitting at the end.
can anyone tell me what it does and would it not working stop diesel getting to
the common rail. or is it a just a sensor.

Urrmmmm no not really. Theres two torx 30 screws that hold it on.. then theres a small rubber O ring that holds it . It needs levering away gently..

Well, I'm back in a C5. 2002, HDI, 168k miles.

2 things - where's the best place to get a new dash pod from with all the gauges - this has both water and oil temp, as well as amps. None of those 3 work. I believe that swapping the lot for a working unit solves this. So, is anyone breaking one, or can point me in the direction of someone who is?...

If it was Head gasket would the pressure not have leaked out when left it for the 14 hours?

The cars I have had that blew the head gasket would blow the water out when running but when they were left and cooled there would be no (or very little) pressure when the cap was removed, these were all waterway to cylinder as it would have to be to blow...

Radio woes C5

Currently missing Ken Bruce's dulcet tones of a morning. (Well come on, can't keep missing popmaster can I?) Radio's ok on long wave and medium wave but nothing on FM, just hiss, won't find a station. If I pull the power or aerial lead from the aerial base end even AM drops out (R4, LW), so the amp and coax appear ok. I've tried another aerial...

Well I'll try again, but those beeps are b@oo@Y loud!. I agree though, even if its beeping loudly it should still find a station. I did try the spare base unit with both radios though :? I'll buzz out the coax between radio and base unit as well.

mk1 berlingo 1.4 petrol, the juddering comes and goes, it could be at as low as 35mph or 50-60 or anything in between, if i put my hand on the gearstick you can feel it through that as well as through the steering wheel, if feels more violent through the stick, i dont just mean a bit of vibration i mean proper shaking, if i dip the clutch it gets...

I have a leak in my steering rack the leak is where the steering column meets the rack.I have been quoted £465 for the replacement ,can it be done any cheaper? I live in Lancashire.
The leak is not under pressure anyone know of thata method of sealing the leak , I have tried a leak stopper but it did not work. Citoen C5 2004 2.0 HDI 53,000...

You need to get the steering shaft well out your way first, even before you're done cleaning. Work inside the cab and from the wheelarch to release it and tie to one side. Once done cleaning, remove the hydraulic pipes and plug their threaded bores - you may find it easier to remove some completely. Then undo the pair of pinion fixing bolts and...

If the xsara has a bosch injection system then it is likely that it will communicate with an eobd (the system used in europe) or with an obd2 (USA) interface even though the vehicle isn't eobd compatible. MK2 Berlingo Airbag Warning Light Woes

Hi all
Airbag warning light on dash stays on. Always has since Ive owned it. Its a 03, 1.9 D van,( no passenger a/b) Believe now its an Mot fail.
Have checked and cleaned the under seat connectors so can pretty much rule that easy fix solution out. So really needs a
Lexia or similar fault diagnoses session on it. So just asking if anyone...

You're welcome. I've got the same problem, but I've got a passenger airbag so there is a way round it for MOT purposes, but you need a Lexia for that too.... My horn doesn't work either, and with the MOT coming up at the end of October, it's going to be interesting fixing it. I'll post here and on the Berlingoforum when I've sorted it ..

1998 Xantia Exclusive Estate - LHD

The passenger electric seat has uncoupled the drive shaft on one side. To repair it I need to remove the seat but am unable to reach the front Torx bolts as I am unable to move the seat back far enough to expose them.

I've tried pushing the seat back using it's power & brute force but it refuses to go back...

Possibly an EGR clean would help, you can get a can of cleaner off ebay, you spray it into the air intake as per instructions, if it doesn't effect a cure it will certainly clean out the EGR valve and inlet manifold. There is no DPF on the 8 valve 2.0. Hdi.
