HDI pressure pump

HDI pressure pump

I have got a pump for my Xantia but it is missing the electrical fitting at the end.
can anyone tell me what it does and would it not working stop diesel getting to
the common rail. or is it a just a sensor.

Probably the pressure regulator. They are usually available from auto factors.

It is the pressure regulator and they will if not finctioning properly stop fuel supply to the rail. Its a little like a gloryfied stop solinoid on an older xud engine pump.

They are available on their own at stupid money.. or like i did i got a whole second hand pump for 80 quid.

I got a secondhand one off ebay for not very much money, I fitted it but it turned out to be the pump so didn.t use it.

Is there any way to test it don't won't to take the pump off if
it's just this that's faulty.

Urrmmmm no not really. Theres two torx 30 screws that hold it on.. then theres a small rubber O ring that holds it . It needs levering away gently..
