I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

DON'T use the one off the old engine as they suffer badly if unused for any length of time.

Ditto any pump with an unknown provenance. Overhaul first. I might be able top do that for you.

Hi all, I'm making a pressure regulator tester and am after a few pointers on how to attach the pipe to the gauge, I've got a friend who's a welder. I've got plenty of Citroen pipe which have fittings on the end to screw into the pressure regulator. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

hi again because of all the trouble with the fobs for this car I would like to wire in a commando G50-c alarm but I was unsure if the cars wiring would be ok or if the lock and unlock wires that would be connected would damage the cars modules what do you think guys

I will not swear to this, but when I had a 54 Picasso (company car) the keyfob started playing up. Somebody in the company workshop found the 20MHz crystal was failing (at least, that is what I remember him saying), and replaced it. The keyfob stopped playing up after that.

I parked my car up. Head a niose when i put my hand break on. It went right up to the top.
Got back from work. Jacked the car up. The passenger side frunt handbreak cable snapped.
Do they still make the parts. Is it do able. Anyone got any break cable set. Or is it time to give in.

I can recall them going inside the car to take off the center trim. They might have took the part of the exhaust off.
All i saw was the car went up stright away. Saw the bloke at the frount wheel what needed doing to it. About 40 to 50 mins later. The car was down. Then they drove it out.

I don't have the full instructions but....if its the same as the C5 then you need a Lexia, do you have one ?. It gives the procedure for reactivating it.

You need about 5 gallons of fuel for the process as it seems to read a fuel increase during the process. Its a take off cap, wait, fuel, replace cap, wait 12 secs remove, replace ect..type of...

Hi, just received led bulbs from china, popped them in rear clusters and indicators are very good indeed the led's are clear but flash amber so result is nice. Put the brake double filament equivalent led again looks bright but when brakes applied it does get brighter but no where near the intensity of the normal double filament bulb, but still a...

Thanks for the advice, I swapped the stepper motor for the rev counter and it worked. For anyone about to do the same, the white plastic pins are extremely easy to break, however I broke a few but the connections have stayed together OK, if I was going to do it again I would be a lot more careful.

I have heard that the 2.5 XM has a water-to-air intercooler that uses engine coolant to cool the air charge entering the engine and that they are often bypassed due to leaks.

How easy would it be to fit a normal air to air intercooler behind the front bumper in place of the coolant fed example? I have read that it's difficult to do but...

Theres a second radiator infront of the larger one, which is needed ovbiously for what ever reason. However, other then that, you would have to engineer your own duct pipes, as the 2.5 inlet is to the side of the engine rather then in the centre like the 2.1 so...

Xantia HDI Estate - Rumbling at 1200rpm

Hi All

These days its like one problem after another :( :(

The citroen estate has just started to rumble/grumble/vibration from the front (more to the off side) when im in gear and moving forward at around 1200-1400rpm, At other speeds it is fine.

So i suspect the gear box and the wheel bearing is ok, so was wondering if its the O/S drive...

1. Try pulling the handbrake on a bit to see if it goes away - the pads can rattle on these (assuming it's a 110) making a right old noise.
2. If not already done so, unplug and blank the vac pipe to the EGR solenoid valve - mine runs much better at low engine speeds since doing this

OK, the Risk of Filter Blockage ....fault was shown as Cap Sensor, replaced. Tested Additive pump...works

So into Lexia.....can I find the Regen Filter command...../ Big No.

Ah, Hi SaabC5 just read your post, a little too late. I was worrying so much about this playing up later in the year I took the plunge and pulled out the injector. I must have been quite lucky, it slid out pretty easily. After a lot of cleaning of all the carbonny crud and checking the seal I put it all back again. Noted your comment re tightening...

Had a wheel bearing changed on a 2005 C3 1.1 and since then the ABS light has been on when the engine is running.
It makes three beeps when it comes on, not sure what this means?
I have connected it to Lexia 3 and it says it is the front LH sensor, which is the side that had the bearing fitted, it would appear that the diagnostics wont communicate...

How can you get fault codes from it if you cant communicate with the ABS ECU ??
My money is on either the wheel bearing has been fitted the wrong way round, a non ABS bearing has been fitted or the magnetic pickup has been damaged when it was pressed in. The pickup for the wheel speed is part of the wheel bearing & its just a magnetic track rather...

I have a 59 plate c5 vtr and its started hesitating at around 2000 rpm more noticeable in 4th and 5th once its over 2000 it seems fine and drives nicely.

I've also noticed that when it first starts its smells a big smokey but that could just be because its a bit colder now

Is it an actual hesitation - as in, the engine stumbles a little, or is it that the car's road speed doesn't accelerate at a constant rate through the 2000rpm band ? I only ask as, (assuming it's the 2.0L diesel) around the 2k rpm band is a favourite place for the clutch to slip when accelerating (realistically 1800-2000rpm -ish), with clutch bite...

c5 back windows - SX Hdi 2002

hi all.. easy one .. :twisted:
both back window glasses are now disconnected from whatever you call the mechanism that shunts them up and down...
Probably a common fault.. just took door cards off ...there is a hole in the glass, and a plastic 'thing' that goes each side of glass, but nothing connecting the two...
can anyone tell me what I need...

Synergie, driver's window won't go up!

My driver's side window has decided to stop going up. It began running slow and has now stopped completely. Tooday I took the door internals off. The relay in the door goes and there is power at the motor. The motor was about 100 Ohms initially. I unbolted the motor and then tried running it and the motor could go forwards and backwards a fraction...

Just occurred to me

Does the drivers window have anti pinch so it stops when it thinks it is obstructed? If so, drag in the channels and mechanism might be enough to convince it to stop. See a similar thread on synergie sunroof. Clean out the channels and try to lube the whole thing, see what happens.

The VSX has developed another, and rather alarming, trick: the first time the brake pedal is pressed after the VSX has been parked for some hours, nothing happens for a few seconds! Guy, I've had the same problem and resolved it by replacement of both accumulators. It's hard to explain what's happening and it might well be ABS.

Another test is to pull the Hydractive fuse and see if it happens when the suspension is in forced hard mode...

C3 Picasso headlamps

before I embark on my voyage of diascovery, has anyone changed a headlamp on a C3 Picasso before, if so, do I gain access to the lower mounting bolt via the wheel arch liner or do I have to remove the bumper/foglamp housing?

Job done, you do not need to totally remove the bumper, process as follows:-
Under the font of the car, remove the two bolts (10mm socket) at the centre and the two push in clips at each side.
Undo the two bolts in the engine bay that hold in the headlamp
Remove the wheel arch liner on the side you are changing. One Torx head screw and about 5...

if my Strut bearing went would I get knocks from it seems iam getting that noise coming from around them parts iam going to stick new anti roll bar sway bar bushes & links in ,,get no noise on smooth roads,,just when the road is uneven

The VSX has an irritating habit, worse until engine gets up to temperature, of the revs surging as I change gear. No, it's not an inability to co-ordinate both feet and left hand! Am I right in vaguely remembering reading something about a mechanical damper on this Lucas pump? Or is this something in the ECU mapping?

There's no damper on an EPIC Guy, it's all done electronically..

The throttle pot is under the airbox and is cable operated from the pedal!

The likely causes of surging are air ingress (the EPIC is unbelievably sensitive to it) or ESOS valves beginning to fail. The problem is most likely the former and leakoff pipes are a big suspect.

Has anyone got any tips on where's the cheapest place to get Lemforder drop links?

I am replacing the front pair and the cheapest I can see is £35.40 / pair which sounds reasonable but thought I'd ask.

Another point, its a shame the French Car Forum does not have an affiliation with a supplier who would provide a small

I'm constantly puzzled at the devotion to Lemförder. It's quite possible that some of their Xantia range has been relegated to a lesser facility (such as their Spanish plant) and may well have changed in quality. This could give rise to the idea of fakes.

These 2.0 16v diesels can be impossible to bleed, in the workshop we suck the fuel through the green tabbed return pipe with my suction oil machine, as repeated cranking with no fuel can damage the pump.
Start 1st time every time with this method.

My Wife's MK3 Dispatch failed its MOT on a front Wheel bearing, I've ordered a new bearing cause I'm not paying £200 for the garage to do it ! Is there a cheapish bearing removal kit out there which I can buy to do the job myself ?

Strut Tops

Hi all

I was wondering whether to worry about these strut tops?

I've always been under the impression that the part the strut gaiter mounts on should protrude down from the rest of the strut top by around 10mm, as seen on this picture of my VSX:

However not all strut tops are like this, as can be seen in this photo:

Should I be worried...
