I don't have access to the car at the moment but a call to NavTech and they will tell you the last update.... http://www.navteq.com/company_locations.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As the car is dead now and the satnav cannot be transferred to my present car...I see no reason why I cannot just send you the disks I have if they are a later release.

I have to say however that a TomTom Go offers a better solution (more up-todate maps/postcode search/Speed Flashers ect) and fits down to the left side of the dash top display rather neatly ....got mine from FleeBay for £40-00.

It's all a bit confusing really. For starters my software is spelt NAVTECH and this new VDO disc has the spelling NAVTEQ. Looking at the VDO Dayton site
http://citroen.navigation.com/C5-2002-V ... en_GB/GBP/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
they ask for your make model and year and show current 2012/13 maps for a 2002 C5, however they are more expensive than a top of the range TomTom, which as you say is a far far better system. The much cheaper disc on ebay is shown for BMW and 'others' but are the discs manufacturer specific?

I've read some conflicting info on the web that the software is specific to Citroen and can't be updated beyond that which Citroen themselves supply as newer version may actually interfere with the BIS system software causing other problems. Or that could just be dealer speak for don't want to get involved. I'm led to understand that that there is at least a version 7.0 where mine is on version 5.0. But also, are the map discs also manufacturer specific?

It's not a big deal really and it works kind of ok as it is if you bear in mind its limitations and out of date mapping. I just like to fiddle with things :roll:

If you have later versions that you don't want I'd happily take them from you in exchange for a beer voucher :-D

As said.....the unit in that car is (most likly) an RT2 unit....RT3 and above has some compatibility, but RT2 is a stop sign and u cannot edit maps /search postcodes and there was a "last update"
Also u cannot upgrade it as I understand

Will check the map Vrs next time I m at the car (its still in the unit :))

Still cant do a postcode search as it only takes 6 digits.....which funnily enough, is the amount of digits on a French postcode.

Well I found this and downloaded it

https://rapidshare.com/#!download|814p5 ... 8F09AA80A3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I've tried using WinRAR and 7-zip but I get the error message that it is not a valid disc image when I try to burn it.

Any ideas anyone?

yep.... I tried those, never did get them working which is why I got the pucka disks from NavTech.

If I recall correctly (old), I do not think there is any updatability of the Firmware with the RT2....

Well I managed to burn the V.8.0 image to disc using ImgBurn and have just fed it into the CD ROM unit in the C5. The display came up with two updates, one for the display and one for the navigation which it seems to have installed. Must have done something as when it came back on it was all in French and the colour defaulted back to grey. Switched it back to English and put the map CD back in and all seems fine, so fingers crossed.

Will report back anything notable when I've been for a drive.
