xantia ignition switch repacement with switches

Hey, it looks like I'll have to replace ignition switch with 2 x toggle and 1 x push button switches.
Just wanted to run this by anyone who might have done the same thing :/

Design:
Toggle switch on Grey and Brown connectors.
Push button switch on Black connector.

Operation to start and run car:
First: Short and hold shorted the two Grey...

I recently replaced the crank pulley on our Picasso as it decided to disintegrate. All was well after the new pulley was fitted.
A week later, I experienced a loss of power and a slightly rattling engine accompanied by clouds of black smoke from the exhaust.

A superficial look at the pipework - all appears to be fine.

One thing of note: there is a faint hissing sound coming from the turbo charger side of the engine after switching off. It lasts for about a minute - sounds a bit like the sound of a coolant header tank cap being removed gradually.

Any thoughts?

Just found out that the coil suppressor capacitor is broken. I can switch on the engine and drive and actually didn't feel any change. I had a post in which I told that there is a smell of petrol coming from the muffler and an HC of 130. I remember that in the old ignitions systems it was connected across the platinum contacts of the contact...

The capacitor comes with a built in 100mm fly lead, and the other half of the lead (to the left of the red joiner) is half of the original capacitors wire which is moulded into the plug. I don't see any deterioration of the wire in the time it has been fitted.

Hi Kenny,

As you know removing he connector puts the fans onto top speed with the key turned ready to start, as a safety feature should the sensor etc., fail.

On our 2.0L HDi 2000 Estate it is a blue plug connected to a blue sensor on the passenger side of the engine adjacent to the throttle control.

Need to fit new front pads, had the caliper off earlier but couldnt get the piston back, then i googled and searched and found they dont just push back but wind back ? am i the only one thinking newer and newer cars just get over complicated ?

Just to add, the spanner for unlocking an angle grinder is a perfect fit for the C5's front callipers. With the bottom slide pin removed and the calliper fully rotated upwards, there's juuuust enough room to get a full 180° turn with the spanner. Is Depollution Fault an MOT Failure?

Just about to get C5 MOT'd but have a depollution fault which I can't clear. I have narrowed it down to a sticky EGR valve but won't have time to do anything about it before the MOT.

Will it fail the MOT with this fault as it means the engine symbol is lit up on dash and I had heard that any illuminated warning lights would fail MOT.

Some of you Prehaps most of you know I do work on engines personally. Bought up on Petrol my fourth car was a bx 1.9 d.

Helpful neighbour left his big black bin lying down in the access to parking! Now my bumper has dislodged itself from my car and stubbornly refuses to go back on.

Its the passenger side, from the light towards the tire, its sticking out just a little bit, it seems to slot into the wing somehow, but couldnt see how to do it in the wind and rain...

I have a depollution system fault when I start the car. Garage said that the DFP was probably cracked and would cost €1200 to replace. I have since found out about getting it removed. There are garages in Dublin looking for €550 to do this but as far as I can see, they are just cracking the filter out and remapping the ECU.

I've developed a leak from the front rigidity regulator on my 1999 Xantia 110 Hdi exclusive. It does not appear to be coming from the sphere seal or running down pipework from other areas and also does not leak when stationary - only when its driven - so its difficult to see where its coming from as the whole regulator and underside of the car...

Even before today The xantia takes 3-4 seconds before it fires up, but its always a bit slow in cranking once fired up if I try again after 30 mins or so it starts first time and cranks over alot quicker. Tracker seems to go off when it wants and its loud, usually when I start the car first thing it sets off giving me the serial number then the number to call because its expired, how do I switch it off without causing another problem.

on my C5, I think you just press the Trafficmaster button,next to your right leg twice (if thats what you are referring to) that goes between Manual or Automatic. Manual would turn it off completely, which is how I have mine,however if you get a problematic battery the darn thing turns itself back on again. You can press the stalk end button twice...

Lexia'd my sister's 2.0 HDi 90 (Siemens) this afternoon, as it went into limp mode a few times a couple of weeks ago. Fault recorded is Fuel pressure regulator flow. I discovered that the N/S/R door speaker was not working.
Therefore I looked into it, and removed the speaker from the door, checking the connections, and swopping it with the other side proved the speaker still worked.

So, it turned out diagnosing the problem further, that the reason why it was not working was because of a break in the wire...

Following on from my last post about a rough ride, I decided to tackle the low level rear end. The top of the rear tyre was at least 1.5 cm inside the rim of the wing before. Stuck the back wheels on pallets so that gave an extra 6-7 height to make adjustments.

Don't think so Malcolm. It always reacts to weight in the back and readjusts to the same height. I have always kept the whole area soaked in oil and spray grease. It always seems to move as it should. It certainly feels a lot more fluid. Now I fancy the comfort spheres so some old Citroen floaty waft. If such a thing is possible from a xant.

Hi. Can someone please tell me how to find the ABS fuse on a Wreg 2litre Xantia HDI please? I need to disable the ABS system as it is faulty and dangerous. tbh abs playing up is MORE dangerous then none atall...i totally agree that it should be repaired properly but when time and money are an issue(normally my problem lol) then the next safest way is nearly always the option thats taken..tricky one this really but we can only advice :)

Have refilled my eoyls tank and think I now need to reset the system via Lexia. I have found the section to do it but confused as to whether I should reset it to Zero or if it asking me for how much is now in the tank.

Any thoughts?

Read somewhere that the system must be reset to zero, as it is a measure of how much has been used, not what's left.

Fired up the lexia yesterday, stuck in a zero and error has now gone away.......yay. Still have a depollution error but have narrowed that down to a sticky EGR valve so will sort that on the weekend.

That's further interesting.. as the 16v engine mounted pump was a lift pump aswell as a rail pressure pump but they are pinned.

excellent discovery for future work

incidentally the original Xantia 2.0 hdi engine fuel pump was not pinned but these had a lift pump in the fuel tank.

The hard part is if there is no clearance, then it's impossible to tell how far out the shim is without taking the cam out and putting it back with no shim, then a known shim....

If the car is otherwise OK, you can check the clearances and if they are tight, then just leave them, as a long as you can put up with the rough starts. It may get worse...

You can add your car information to the signature part. User Control Panel --> Signature :)

As in C5 hydraulic pump electric motor is behind a 40A fuse and I assume that you have a C5,
