Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I have read around the forum but have not found an answer.

Just going through my shed and found a can of Total Fluide T CMatic transmission oil, a 2 litre can with probably about 1.5 litres left.

Well finally got the front struts off the Xantia I was breaking, but not sure if they are any good?

Also I learned the hard way regarding removing the drive shaft nut, so that's still attached to the first one I removed :oops:.

Was planning on selling them, but if they are both poor, dont want the hassle of striping them down

my C5 has a faulty temperature sensor, its reading ~10 degrees under actual temperature and car is telling me risk of ICE.

I have just bought P bushes for both sides. On one (see pic), the bolt mounting holes look severely misaligned by perhaps 4mm. The other is much better, maybe 1mm out of line.

Opinions please on whether assembly is feasible, or should one or both be returned?

I have, in fact, decided to go with the parts I have, and see in the first instance (without the wishbone) whether the bush looks like pulling in. If it doesn’t, there is ample metal to enlarge the single hole and still allow the bolt head to clamp down solid all round.

Am I correct in assuming that the only way to program a keyfob/plip is with a Lexia. Not the key just the plip. I have two keys one with the plip, which came with the car (2.0 Hdi LX) but would like to purchase either a used or a new fob as a spare. If so does anyone know of someone near Bridgend, South Wales who could do it? Many thanks.

Clogzz, I apologise for invading what is very much your territory here. I hope you will not mind if I add the following to the blower fan issue.

Lately, I've been sent two blower speed regulators for repair as the fan was spinning at top speed uncontrollably. On test, both these modules were found to be perfect.

just replaced the lucas pump on my 99 1.9td xsara sx, now when i turn the ignition on the immobiliser light flashes and there is a beeping sound ! is there a transponder thingy or some thing ?

also, if i remove the stop solenoid and put 12v to it nothing happens, is this correct ? does the stop solenoid only operate when cranking the...

Indeed it is :-D Is that with the stop solenoid 'manually' energised? What about the immobiliser light and the constant whining from it? On some cars with a CPH (S2 Xantia say,) the noise and light will cease after a while. I trust this is the case with yours...

Have you lost one of the 'props' on the sides Mike?

When tilted up you should see the two props holding up the glass part... If you only see one then you have a problem.

To do anything sensible on the sunroof you'll need to drop the whole headlining as a start :twisted:

Just a quickie guys ,
i am driving an M reg xantia petrol COURTESEY car automatic whilst my own gets a steering rack leak fixed.

have never had an auto and have driven along the motorway in D (drive) , but what are the 1,2,3 positions for ??
silly question perhaps but last time i was in an auto was in new york driving to niagra falls 6 yrs ago in...

Let's hope this is NOT the beginning of dozens of potential faults I have...

The aircon on the C5.

How do I know it's working? Just the fact that the blower blows? Should there be noticeably cold air coming from the vents?

At the moment it's hard to tell. Even on 14 I can't honestly say it feels cool in there. Am I running the engine long...

I've only done about 100 miles in the car. There was NO gas in the system whatsoever.

Yebbut - before you go in with all guns blazing... how long do you think the gas takes to leak out of a ballon if it gets a puncture...? But in any case,

I'd ask nicely if I were you - there's no doubt a tick for 'a/c working' amound the other 799,999,999...

I have contrived to fuse the sidelights on the Synergie and I can't find the fuses - its not helped by the fact that I have not got a handbook, or any sort of manual with it. I found the fusebox under the bonnet, and there appear to be fuses for dipped and full beam in there, but no pictogram for sidelights.

Finally got aorund to putting the Series 2 (with the slipping clutch) on the road yesterday which I bought for £200 from James at Duxford Service Station.

The drive back in April went well and the clutch only slipped if in a high gear and...

. Also, the clutch on my S1 slipped back in 2009 and I only got that changed last year. It went worse then got better. I basically revved it high a few times with clutch dipped on a long straight road doing about 50mph and literally slid my foot sideways off the clutch.

Does anybody know if its possible to connect an android based phone to a Picasso and read fault codes or any other information?

I have a HTC Desire and have seen some apps for reading codes and other information but they say you need a cable to connect from car to phone, any ideas?

and i cnt conect with any of them, i must have got 1 of those cheap chinese 1's :oops:

Well sick of oil leaks from the gearbox so finally got round to getting some new seals from my local Citroen dealer :)

Going to be replacing them at some point in the near future. Anybody got any tips? :lol:

I can't be 100% , but don't think any Picasso has dpf, just a passive filter.
There are far worse things to go wrong than that anyway .
You need to check clutch and dual mass flywheel, for ANY noise or slippage, at least £750 to repair.
A/c must work, lots of possible leaks.
Check for leaks from the injectors, can be tricky to remove injectors....

I had the most annoying squeak in the drivers seatback every thime I took a breath, but only noticed it when I had everything switched off whilst sitting in the car. Hi All

Pre-MOT paranoia is starting to kick in, and something has occurred to me - I replaced a track rod end and the plastic spacer/cup on the ball joint nut was in pretty bad shape, and because the end of the nut was rounded off with rust I ended up having to dig out what was left of the plastic spacer so I could get a socket fully onto the nut...

Hi, does anyone know whether there is a software upgrade for the early C3 power steering. It seems to steer well enough but does not inspire confidence like the old fashioned hydraulic systems we all got used to.
I've heard all electric steering systems are like this. Can anyone comment?

Hi , as I said, it steers very well. It's light enough and quite nimble. The problem is feel , especially when pressing on. Just not as good somehow as hydraulic assistance and nowhere near as good as unassisted steering. (I've been driving quite a while!) There is no obvious fault, no play and the tyres are not showing signs of misalignment....

Clutch was making a strange noise last week, sort of click/clunk as you push the pedal down... :evil: Well this morning, stopped at a set of lights and I couldn't get into 1st gear, had to drive back home without clutch :evil: , good job it was only around the corner.

Does anyone have a spare plastic cover/tray to go in place of the oddement tray? I have bought a set of leather seats for my Xantia HDi and have found the plugs for the heated seats switches under the oddment tray. However, I don't have the correct holder for the switches.

well my 58 plate C5 has passed its 2nd MOT. only issue was blocked washer jets which required the hoses being cleaned out with compressed air, probably the result of using s**t screenwash !

got them to repair both window regulators when the car was in so all set for hopefully trouble free motoring now... :roll:

Only done about 20 miles in it, but what can I say?

I have the biggest smile from east to west!

This after nearly five years of Xantia ownership, so time for a change to something thoroughly modern, to me. I know there are those who are detractors, but I can only speak as I find, can't I? I'm no techno-guru.
