C5 ride height adjustment ??

Post by deano1970 »

hi,
I have a C5 hdi 52 plate estate exclusive.... I have noticed the rear suspension is too high when driving.....suspension is set at normal height but it's too high at the back, it returns to where it should be within ten seconds or so of stopping the engine....I rang a garage that deals with french cars and I told him that I had the rear radius arms done and he asked who did it because garages are not keen at tackling changing them?? anyway, he said to take it back to where it was done and ask them to adjust the height,he said it can be adjusted to whatever height required?? Is this a difficult job?? guy I spoke to at westreon, who do citroen spheres said it was all different on a C5 comapred to the old height corrector on the xantia,so,is it a big job to alter the height setting on the back? or front for that matter, though in this case,it's the back that needs dropping down?? cheers....

I heard Roger Bradford discussing this with one of his mates and it appears to be quite simple and a similar procedure to that on a Xantia.
It can also be done with a Lexia for more accurate results.

cheers steve,
but what is the procedure? is it something a numpty as clueless as me could do? don't want it on a lexia, because, although this car came with a mountain of service history, it didn't come with key card with the code on it for some reason.....just need to get the back end down a bit cos it's far too high...... :)

You can get the code from Citroen. It cost me £10 for the last Xantia I had.

It is only necessary to loosen the height corrector clamp on the anti-roll bar and rotate it fractionally - very small adjustments make a significant difference in the ride height.
Observe the usual precautions when working under an hydraulic Citroen - it will kill you if it sees the opportunity.

Yep, that's normal. Security concerns. I didn't need take in my licence as the staff in the dealership knew me.

You only need the code if you want to code new keys - normal diagnostic work doesn't require it.
