Is Depollution Fault an MOT Failure?

Post by hamster99 »

Just about to get C5 MOT'd but have a depollution fault which I can't clear. I have narrowed it down to a sticky EGR valve but won't have time to do anything about it before the MOT.

Will it fail the MOT with this fault as it means the engine symbol is lit up on dash and I had heard that any illuminated warning lights would fail MOT.

Unfortunately rob yes.. It will. I think the lights are now in force. If not its later this year.

no warning lights to be on display for mot.. next thing all egr valves will need to be in place. Any missing will be an instant fail.

that's gonna be fun then..

No what? Won't fail or no it won't pass?

That's GREAT stuff if it will pass... but it can't be for much longer can it Wayne?

I thought it was in, but a search of the manual and net confirms that it isn't (currently - although no plans to introduce at present) :)

Think its a case of suck it and see. If the car goes through the emissions test but is displaying Emission Fault on info display then its considered an electrical gremlin but still a pass. Failing the emissions test is still obviously a fail overall.
